Enjoyed a lovely evening with our daughter and her husband .
The restaurant was busy which was lovely to see on a mid week .
The decor is basic , and the high ceiling and lack of soft furnishings
make for a noisy but characterful experience .
Our selection of tapas dishes were served at nicely spaced intervals ,
and the waiting staff were friendly and efficient .
Draft beer not available ( only bottles) which was disappointing .
Would recommend to others - good value , and we hope to return .

We visited this restaurant before the Covid lark, and have just re-visited it. I am delighted to say it was as good as ever, and unlike so very many restaurants, the price seems to be the same as 4 years ago.
4 of us had the Fiesta menu, which was incredible value at £25 a head, the platters just kept coming and coming. Our only issue was we had a time deadline (trains), and we didn't have time to eat the desert that was included in the price. They offered to box it up for us, but 5 minutes later there was no sign of it, and we had to go.
I would say you seriously have to like garlic to eat here, but we do, so not a problem.

What a lovely restaurant, from the moment you walk in you are immersed in a full on Spanish experience .
The decor, the music, the head of house, the drinks, the aromas and the wonderful food.
We couldn't have asked more. There was a select menu, mostly tapas style but ranging in size along with a small specials board. There was sherry to choose from and jugs of sangria.
Everything we had was delicious, freshly prepared, lovingly presented, generous and excellent value. You can't go wrong if you choose this restaurant. We are just sad we live 300 miles away, I'd be there every week!

I had 4 tapas here which was all lovely and a blackcurrant and water cordial.
When I got the bill it was £44!!
There was a chicken livers tapas on it which a person from another table had bought my dog to eat and the waitress was notified about this as she asked me weather it was ok. The blackcurrant cordial was charged at a ludicrous price and some other surplus dish was added ….
I raised the issue and the bill came back for £29!!!
Food was lovely and would come again but I will be checking my bill for sure

After visiting here multiple times over the past 12 months it had somewhat become a go to for an end of month treat. However my visit earlier this month left me bitterly disappointed. Now I am aware every restaurant can have an off day however this was booked by a friend on my recommendation. The excellent service I had become accustomed to was heavily dulled down even though the restaurant was no where near as busy as I have seen it. Yet I put it down to us being in group hoping it would get better.
Unfortunately the fact we were only very being served out of obligation was very noticeable and this was apparent to the other 5 members I was with.
The food was the biggest pet down this evening I personally had the seafood paella something me and my partner order regularly. Alas I was left disappointed again the same high expectations were no where to be found and the food was dull and lacked any excitement. And this was the general consensus amongst our group.
We quickly paid for the bill and lest. Myself rather red faced. Maybe I will return as a couple but never again as a group.

Booked for dinner to celebrate my partner’s birthday. Neither of us had been here for a few years.
They accommodated allergy requests very well, and adapted the calamari by making it with gluten free batter.
Great flavours, great service and won’t be leaving it so long before we go back.
Thank you!

I must say I am yet to come across a meal as good as this in Shrewsbury. The restaurant itself is beautiful with a great atmosphere; small tables nicely packaged together makes for a buzzing environment. The staff are also very hospitable and understanding; we had to wait around 15 minutes after our booking but were provided with bread, olives and jamon serrano on the house.
The food was so unbelievably fresh and tasty, offering great value for money and good portion sizes with a lot of variety on the menu. The house red is moderately priced (£14.95) and the service was timely, with different plates coming at different times.
I still think about the whitebait, which you absolutely must try.

This place is brilliant! Traditional style tapas restaurant hidden away in Shrewsbury. Only a small amount of tables so I would recommend you book, we booked on a Friday at 5.30pm and it was full. The plates are more than enough for 2 people to share, we had 6 different plates and a bottle of rioja for just over £60, absolute bargain. The service was superb and staff very friendly. We will definitely be visiting again.

Visited January 2025 for evening meal. First of all, I phoned on a weekday when they were closed to try and book for the Saturday, I didn’t leave a message and they called me back - I was impressed to receive a call back. The man who phoned was very friendly and fitted us in for the Sat. The service was spot on - efficient, relaxed and friendly without being overbearing. The food was excellent, as was the general atmosphere of the restaurant. The pricing provided very fair value for money and experience, which seems to be the case less and less elsewhere with restaurants nowadays. It really was excellent here and we throughly enjoyed our meal. We’ll be back!

Lovely lunch at Casa Naranjo on Sunday. First ever visit and made to feel very welcome by the owner (who is VERY passionate and knowledgeable about the food that he serves). All tapas dishes fantastic… but especially the chorizo in red wine. Utterly faultless meal and cannot wait to find an excuse to visit Shrewsbury in future so we can go back!!

Came here for lunch for my boyfriend and I’s anniversary - service was really quick and food was amazing. Very big portion size: which I loved and everything was cooked perfectly! Great pricing too we had 6 tapas dishes and a few drinks each for under £70 and struggled to finish the food as there was so much. Would highly recommend. Waiter was lovely too - must go to if you’re in the area!

Spoilt for choice in Shrewsbury for tapas and perhaps we don't eat here as much as we should.
I was going vegetarian for the evening and I must admit to feeling a little underwhelmed compared to our friends. There didn't appear to be very much choice with one dish off for the evening. Tomatoes in olive oil wasn't very exciting. Patatas Bravas was good but a menu standard. The Aubergine and Goat's cheese were the best dishes.
Service and ambience were excellent.
We had two bottles of the very good house wine for £35. When you've just paid £8.50 for a 175ml at Glou Glou, this was extremely reasonable.

This is a fairly small restaurant down a quiet alley just off the Wyle Kop, so you'll need to seek it out but it's well worth it. There's nothing spectacular about the decor or set up but it's got an interesting and welcoming feel. Ramon, the owner and waiter is very friendly without being over-familiar and made several recommendations including the well priced wine.
As it's tapas you get quite a wide choice of small dishes so you can choose plenty as tasters and share them with your friends and family.
Great food, great atmosphere and a great place.

Firstly, the staff at this restaurant are helpful and very pleasant. However, the food by and large left something to be desired in my view. It is undoubtedly Spanish tapas, but it was very average. The best bits were the giant prawns and the gambas pil pil which were very good. The fritters were decidedly disappointing. Portion sizes are also rather large: tapas is about small dishes from which to share, not large mains-style portions. I have had better, both in Spain and in this country. I am used to dishes like seared scallops, crab salad, tortilla, piperade, roast duck breast but in small portions. Anyway, the food was ok, but I will not be going back there.

We visited yesterday as a table of 7 with 2 small children and felt very welcomed . We booked in advance with us being a large group and knowing how busy they are and it’s safe to say we we’re not disappoint. We were given a choice between two menus, the tapas menu and the set ‘fiesta’ menu which worked well for us as the kids were able to enjoy the tapas menu and the adults the ‘fiesta’ menu.
We were pleasantly surprised with the size of the dishes on the fiesta menu which were full of flavour and overall delicious and allowed us to try dishes which we wouldn’t have ordinarily ordered like the croquettes which became a fan favourite in the group. We enjoyed our tapas with an equally amazing jug of sangria packed with lots of fruit and flavour as well as excellent service from the two waiters where nothing was too much trouble.
A very traditional Spanish theme ran throughout the restaurant with a relaxed atmosphere. Thoroughly enjoyed the evening and would 100% recommend and will be returning!
Muchas gracias casa naranja. ¡Hasta pronto!
