Our first port of call on numerous visits to York for a late breakfast treat. Fabulous handmade bread and local bacon and sausage. Lovely tea and coffee ! Always consistent in terms of service and quality.

Join the queue outside, the food and coffee are excellent so you won’t be disappointed. The portion sizes are generous and the quality is very good.

A great little cafe which is sometimes full so you may need to queue. It's worth the wait the crayfish open sandwich with mango chutney and slightly curried mayo is devine. They make excellent bread but always have gluten free available. Good coffee to and...happy friendly staff.More

We have been going to here since they opened in York. I think we are probably one of the original regulars to Mannion and always pop in when we are in York. We are always happy with the food and staff and the overall experience....Unfortunately this visit was very different. When we arrived, we were asked to wait outside and it was about 10 minutes before someone came to see us. The manager then asked us how many, and then told us the wait would be very long. We waited another 10-15 minutes before anyone came back. We were the only people in the queue. We could see from outside that the restaurant was half empty and people were leaving continuously. The overall feeling that we received was very unwelcoming and not like the usual happy greeting we usually receive. We actually felt like we were intruding and picked an inconvenient time to visit. When we were finally seated and got our coffees we asked the manager if we could please shut the front door because the wind was blowing in so badly we had to keep our coats on and it was very cold. He said no and told us the owner watches the cameras to make sure the door is left open. It was very uncomfortable finishing our meals and we left quickly. This may not seem like the worst thing to ever happen at a restaurant and the food was still very good but the atmosphere and the whole attitude from the manager made us feel uncomfortable. The kitchen staff and the floor staff didn’t look like the same happy group that made mannion a great place to visitMore

Came with family and have been multiple times before. Friendly service and great breakfasts. The whole menu is now on chalk boards which you have to get up and see. Really like the outdoor seating! Good value for money. Would recommend.

Great menu options. Busy. Had to queue to get in but worth it. Good vegetarian menu items but also for meat eaters.

Eaten here before and decided to give it another go. Attentive staff. Got seated in the rear courtyard and opted for the Thai fish cakes. Tasty but not really to our liking. Maybe should have stuck with the sandwiches.

I don't remember specifically because we were in York in October. However, I am gluten free by choice. I don't think I would have gone in the restaurant if their weren't any gluten-free options.
