We visited this restaurant based on previous reviews, the service was quite slow, waited quite a while for our drinks. We ordered the food which was a selection of dim-sum. They were very nice, but not as good as I have eaten in other restaurants. The restaurant do a lot of different dim sum so you can taste different ones than what you would normally. We then ordered some prawns which came in 3 skewers, these were nice but quite expensive. Overall the food was good but I don’t think I would return.

Booked to dine here whilst on a short staycation city break to London. First of all, booking online via the Baozilnn website using OpenTable was very easy. Upon arrival the now familiar need to ‘check-in’ with a scan code and use hand sanitiser. It’s a compact restaurant, but we didn’t feel crowded. Service was friendly & attentive but not intrusive, using a call device on the table to indicate we were ready to order with staff promptly arriving.
We ordered the mixed skewer platter (chicken, pork, lamb, beef) plus Dan Dan noodles and special fried rice. Our food arrived quickly, each dish separately but close together, and was nicely hot. Very impressed with the quality, everything was flavoursome and the noodles had a spicy edge but not over powering. The skewers were all very tasty indeed. We were both hungry but the three dishes proved to be a perfect quantity of food.
At the end of the meal the call device quickly had our bill delivered, with the bonus of a £10 per head discount. I had not been aware of it when booking, but it transpires they have extended a version of the ‘eat out to help out’ scheme which applies on Tues/Wed/Thurs in September (I guess they’re possibly closed on Mondays).
Overall we were very happy with our experience and will make a point of visiting again on any future trips irrespective of any discount offer. Definitely recommend.

Walked in early on Sunday evening and were seated by the window which we like. We are mainly vegetarian and had delicious tofu burgers and deep fried tofu to start. Perfect,! Our main ride and noodle dishes were also very tasty and good portion size. Our bill was £40 without service charge and included a glass of wine and a beer.

Food was really disappointing. Vegetarian dumplings were like soggy, tasteless pasta parcels. Portions were measily. A signature noodle dish appeared in about 15 seconds - bland mince pork on a bed of overcooked noodles with a sickly sauce. Green tea served with tea bags in a mug. Chicken skewers were dry, overcooked, tasteless. Avoid.

My husband and I visited for our anniversary. We booked via open table cause you had good reviews and you were on time out. We couldn't have been more disappointed.
When ordering from the menu it wasn't clear what all the ingredients were in the items on your menu. I asked the person serving us what was in all of the colourful dumpling sets as I only ate seafood and vegetables (no meat). He pointed out the ones that had prawn and we ordered that and the turnip cakes.
I had assumed that we would have been told there was meat inside as I told the server I don't eat meat.
When the meal came, I ate a turnip cake and felt I could taste someathing strange. I started to feel a bit sick and ill so I asked the waiter if there was meat inside the turnip cakes. He said no I don't think so but I will check just incase. When he came back he confirmed there was.
I had told the lady to approached our table what happened. She was nice and offered something to help or change the food but at that stage it was too late. She also said she thought the menu was clear but its doesn't show ingredients. I was sick in the theatre after our meal and again at home and have been left ill all weekend. This totally ruined my weekend, our anniversary night and the theatre booking we had made that evening. The restaurant also didn't appear to care too much as they said I should have known better!

These guys ripped us off under “eat out to help out”. We paid for a platter, they gave us the bare minimum and over charged us. A £17 platter included four items and a dish I paid £16 for did’t come with rice s advertised. A Total rip off. Do not go there. A complete rip off,

We visited tne Baoziin in Romilly St for lunch today. We were kept waiting by the door for at least five minutes as staff walked past us.
We were eventually led to a table which was near to the door and had to sit in a draught as people entered and left the restaurant.
We ordered our food - 3 dim sum, 3 mains, some rice and pak Choi. The food arrived hap hazzardly and was bland and tasteless - not at all hot and spicy as Szechuan food should be. We were still waiting for two of the dim sum and one main to arrive when we had finished what we had already been given. After waiting around 15 mins we asked the waiter to check when the rest of our order might arrive. He came back and told us that the remaining order had never made it to the kitchen. We decided to cut our losses and asked for the bill. When it arrived we asked to have the ‘discretionary’ service charge to be removed. They seemed surprised!
A disappointing experience - poor service with overpriced mediocre food.

Terrible service. Overpriced.
If you want to have good Chinese food, in a nice environment, surrounded by courtesy and politeness choose another restaurant, which is what I will do. I have been a few times and I was always disappointed, gave it a last chance and it confirmed my first impressions. Awful awful. Hospitality doesn’t live on the same planet.
And what about 12,5% service charge added to your bill? They barely acknowledge you and throw your dishes in your table… I think this has made the service in London - which was pretty bad to begin with - plunge into disaster.
Go somewhere else.

I would give this restaurant 0 stars if it was possible due to the poor service and the quality of the food. My friends and I ordered salt & pepper squid, tofu, vegetable dumplings, x2 noodles and crispy shredded beef. The food overall lacked flavour and at best, it was mediocre and the descriptions on the menu did not match the reality of it. My friends’ noodles were bland and mainly salty more than anything hence why we sent one of it back. Whilst politely asking the server with the glasses to take it back, he rudely responded, « Why » as if he doubted us. We also requested to send the tofu back as we barely touched it, since it was over cooked and way too salty. The same waiter rudely responded, « Why what’s wrong with it ? You’re the only table complaining about the food, everyone else is happy. This is not a taster taster meal » and we said yes we understand that is not the concept of the restaurant however we are not happy with the quality of the food that we have been served. The waiter returned to our table and asked if everything else was okay. Before we could even respond, this waiter turned away and started speaking to another table.
It’s so disappointing as my friends and I have heard good things about this restaurant from others. Overall, I would not recommend this restaurant nor would I return.

Firstly, the prices are way overpriced for the quality and portion size you get. Secondly, they wouldn't offer any soy sauce or chilli oil with the dumplings when we asked, which I've never encountered in a Chinese restaurant before. But the biggest nail in the coffin was one of the waiters SHOUTING at us when we were paying the bill. The rudest waiter I've ever encountered, which is a shame as the other waiter was perfectly polite. The food was ok, but it's safe to say we won't be coming back.

The service was awful. Was automatically charged £9 service charge for just pressing a bell for someone to pick up some paper that you tick off your own food, and was told it was because we asked for a doggy bag.
£16 for a small dish of shredded beef is outrageous!

Problems began from the start, simple questions about the menu (e.g. if there was egg in the noodles) resulted in long and confusing answers, to having disclaimers to sign thrust at me.
My friend asked for a side of chilli oil for dipping, we were told no, why? It's on the menu to go with the same type of dumpling we ordered, not sure what the issue was?
The food was okay, but not for the price or the portion size.
The final nail in the coffin was being shouted at for simply asking for a clarification regarding the transaction when paying.
Safe to say we will never be back.

Ate here a couple of weekends ago and had a very negative experience. I've eaten here previously and enjoyed it but that was 2 years ago when this location opened so it must have gone downhill.
The service was shocking, I had to beg to be served while the staff chatted in the corner. Food was not flavoursome. You need to focus on your customer service and train the staff to take orders properly. I was served by a young boy who repeated his order to me 3 times or so. My food arrived way before my drink. No water ever turned up.
Would not recommend as there are so many fantastic restaurants in that area to chose from.

Having had some dodgy experiences with Chinese food in Soho, I decided to trust Tripadvisor's recommendations, however if this is No. 2 of multitude of Chinese restaurants in Soho, it doesn't say much for Soho's culinary standing.
Initial impressions were good with the cheery and welcoming maitre d (owner?) quickly making accommodation to seat us at an alternative table, having arrived 30 minutes early at 6:30pm. However we were reassured that we would still have our 1.5 hours slot.
We were seated upstairs which was calmer and quieter, and got down to writing our order on the tick-box list provided, which I rather liked. I'm not a dim sum expert so I wasn't sure what to expect so equated portion sizes to the prices. Dim sum / dumpling starters were fine - although not very hot. The 'sizzling lamb skewers', priced at £12.00 were much smaller than expected and also luke warm, though tasty.
There is a limited 'mains' order, so I had presumed that the Fried Rice dishes, at £12.50 would be a main meal, so ordered 2 of those and a main chicken dish for 3 of us.
The food turned up in completely random order (one fried rice, then the main chicken dish, then a starter), but that wasn't a problem, except that the fried rice was more a small portion of egg fried rice with a couple of chicken-shreds. Desperately needing a soya sauce pep, this has to be requested, and we received a small shallow bowl with a dash of sauce, of which we needed to request 2 refills.
As usual in Soho restaurants, table service was perfunctory with a clear objective for quick turnarounds, however I was disappointed that we were told our table was needed 15 minutes before time as we were enjoying a final drink having polished the limited amount of food pretty quickly. When I remonstrated, there was no quibble with us staying, however we subsequently left anyway as I felt a bit unwelcome.
I was prepared to spend money, and the final bill wasn't cheap (and we only had 3 alcoholic drinks), and left disappointingly hungry.

I went to Baozilnn for a pre-theatre meal with my family and elderly aunt and I told the waiting staff I was onion and garlic intolerant. Initially, they appeared to take it seriously and came and spoke to me about what I could eat, but then they bought out a disclaimer for me to sign, which made me suspicious. When my meal arrived I could see that no effort had been made to remove the garlic, as there were chunks of it in my meal. They had told me that the filling of the dumplings (that the rest of the family were eating) couldn't be guaranteed as they were made off-site. So I barely ate a thing. I didn't say anything at the time because I didn't want to make a fuss and spoil the very rare family treat. I'm really disappointed and hungry. The food I ate however, was delicious!
