Following a matinee theater trip & a recommendation to dine at Anglo, my wife & I walked for a rather blustery 24 minutes in February from Shaftsbury Avenue up to St Cross Street, Farringdon. We tend not to dine out too often & so walked through the door with an open mind. We left quite sometime later & with no doubt in our minds, whatsoever. Mark Jarvis and his team served a stunning tasting menu with wine pairing. Every course was quite simply exceptional both in taste and presentation. Just a few of the highlights were, the Baron Bigod custard, cep salt & pink fir, this caused my eyebrows to rise slightly, all of a sudden I knew we were in for a special evening! The hand dived scallop and roasted chicken butter induced an overwhelming feeling of sheer ecstasy. The halibut, bouillabaisse sauce, pancetta & white crab were perfectly cooked and quite sensational. The Dexter sirloin, ox-cheek ragu & salt baked swede was absolutely on-point and simply delicious. In addition to these and the other wonderful courses, superb wines were served and described eloquently, passionately and by a waiter & waitress who so obviously not only knew their stuff & had a passion for the food and wine they served, but also for their job. If you get a chance, do try and visit Anglo, I’m sure you won’t be disappointed. We will certainly be back. Q&L

What an inventive, interesting and delicious tasting menu with matching wines. We at Mirazur in Menton earlier this year (which is currently considered the number 1 restaurant in the world) and I can honestly say Anglo was better. Each dish was served with style and flair and the the flavours were exquisitely executed. The restaurant is small and intimate and the service was absolutely first class - each course and wine arrived with a short explanation. The vegetarian alternatives were equally delicious. If you are a foody this is definitely not a restaurant to miss out on...... and for the quality excellent value for money.

I love this place the food is magnificent always a surprise and a delight. The menu really does not do it justice when you read it but that adds to the surprise when it's brought to the table. The food has never disappointed so imaginative , the service is always excellent. They know about the food and are as passionate about it as the chef. I always have the tasting menu and not only is the food sublime but it's great value. You can take someone as a treat and it won't break the bank and they will be suitably impressed. We had the wine pairing this time around and it just elevated the experience more. I totally recommend this gem forlunch time or evening. I will return again and again

My partner book this restaurant as a surprise for my 50th birthday as I had always wanted to try a tasting menu with wine flight. When we arrived I had no idea where we were going as the restaurant is very unassuming from the outside. The interior is simple and elegant and the host was delightful. She introduced every course describing what was in each dish and the wine that accompanied it. We were absolutely blown away with the food, we have never had anything like it and I loved not knowing what was coming next. I would definitely recommend it to anybody that loves beautiful food and would go again in a heartbeat!

Great little restaurant this. Loved everything. Great ambience, nice music, small intimate dining room. Service seems to ran by one member of staff that I believe is the chef’s partner and she was fantastically attentive, on point with everything and clearly passionate herself about the food been served. The whole menu was top quality and as good as many Michelin starred places I’ve dined at. Innovative and interesting menu, quite experimental in some areas. Loved it and would happily visit again. Tucked away on a quiet street so nice location too.

Each course was richly flavoured and an absolute joy to eat. Classic flavours with a twist that were sure to please and the range of flavours was diverse throughout the meal. Presentation of each course was on point and a palette cleanser was also thrown in which was a nice surprise. Timings between courses was perfect and service was impeccable. All in all a really beautiful meal in a really relaxed setting. Would definitely recommend.

Had the tasting menu with accompanying drinks choice which was totally divine . The kitchen was ultra accommodating with one of our pregnant diners and the service exquisite. The service was un-rushed and allowed us to have 4 hours with our wonderful friends we hadn't seen for a long while because of lockdown. The food and presentation was amazing and considering the quality of food and service the bill was very acceptable, not cheap but more than happy to pay for this exceptional quality. Definitely going back again!

Visited Anglo for lunch on a Saturday in mid December. Everything was exceptional and a fantastic value tasting menu for London. My wife is coeliac but she wouldn’t have known there, gluten free food made seemlessly including homemade gluten-free bread. We opted for the lunch tasting menu, paying extra to add the Oyster. Food was outstanding for each course. All was presented impeccably and tasted fantastic. The duck courses in particular were some of the best we have had. The location is about a 15 min walk from Oxford street but inside the restaurant it’s very relaxed and very intimate venue with not many tables. The service as perfect. Each course explained and often by the chef. They talk about low mileage sustainable food and that’s something they certainly deliver on with so many ingredients either grown by them or foraged that very morning. The care is what sets it apart. We are lucky enough to have eaten in various nice restaurants and had tasting menus and we have paid a lot more for a lot worse! Look forward to coming back to see the menu again soon!

An earlier review has already provided a detailed description of all the courses we experienced so all I can really say is this was an exceptional meal for a very reasonable price. The menu accurately lists the ingredients for each course but this cannot convey how they are presented and combine to form a series of incredible flavours. Top marks go to head chef Anthony and also to Marie in front of house who was knowledgeable and engaging. The wines we had were excellent. We look forward to returning soon.

Absolutely one of the best meals I'd experienced for a while. A tasting menu that is innovative and exciting as the menu doesn't give away what will appear before your eyes. The wine pairing matched perfectly, served along with the food by the lady running the show alone front of house! Extremely knowledgeable about the food and wine choices and served with a smile. Thoroughly recommend a visit.

One of the finest restaurants in London. I’ve been to many 2 & 3 Michelin star restaurants for tasting menus and Anglo was by far the best in London so far. Absolutely stunning food, all served in a beautiful intimate setting with only 7 tables in the restaurant for £80 per person. Stunning on every level.

This is not really a restaurant that is up to the rating. The wine pairing is excellent, but the food is a bit less so. There is no coherence to the dishes, they feel imaginative for imaginativeness' sake. It seems to have lost its lustre and needs a bit of a rethink.

After much research, we booked Anglo to celebrate my wife's birthday. This was our first fine dining experience for many years and totally worth it. Each dish was amazing with perfectly balanced flavours. There was the right amount of 'zing' throughout making this an ideal summer menu. Highlights for me were the Isle of Wight tomatoes, strawberry, apple, elderflower, black garlic and Scallop, peach, gherkin, fennel, gooseberry dishes but every dish was great with great excitement when each course was put in front of us to see what we would taste next. We are now intrigued what the food might be in winter as this was a great summer menu. Luckily, my birthday is in the winter... Also, a big shout out needs to go to our host Marie. She happily explained each dish and the wine pairings with each course. The restaurant might be small but she worked alone in front of house and was helpful and welcoming to all.

Wow! What a little find! My husband and I went to this restaurant and experienced the taster menu with wine pairing. Firstly the ambience is lovely, very simple, calm and bijou. I love the fact that their is only one menu, this takes decision making out of your hands and allows you to try different things. The whole concept of local produce that has been foraged was beautifully different and made the evening a discovery of tastes and food combinations. The food was very well balanced with the wine, and whilst some of the wines were not necessarily traditional quaffable wines they were exceptionally balanced and complimented the food perfectly! Even the plates and bowls were earthy and natural. I can’t phrase this little independent business enough. It’s a little treasure tucked away. Thank you Anglo!!
