We love What a pizza!
It’s great for both family meals and for date night.
Today we visited with our 8 year old. They had the kids pizza with tuna and sweetcorn, I enjoyed a ham and pineapple and my Hubby had the meat feast with onion!
We also shared two portions of the garlic bread with cheese.
Hubby and small also shared a chocolate calzone. Perfect for sharing!
The candle holders are adorable (recycled wine bottles with a sketch of the store printed on,) even the take home boxes are branded with adorable rustic details.
The staff are lovely.
The atmosphere is chilled and not stuck up but intimate enough to feel cozy.
Small just declared “I love this place!”
All I can say is, we are leaving very happy!

This place is welcoming and charming, staff are friendly and the food is delicious.
We visited it for a family meal out and all members of our family enjoyed it. The food was fresh, very tasty and well prepared and we could choose among many menu options. The price was also reasonable, considering the great quality of the food.
The staff know what they're doing and we could tell making customers happy is their priority.
We love this place and will definitely visit it again soon.

We did an impromptu visit this Saturday evening and were pleased to be given a table without delay. The restaurant was very busy but nothing was too much trouble. We had our pizzas customised to our taste and they followed a delicious starter which we capped off with an equally lovely desert. The bill was very reasonable and we will definitely be dining there again.

As a family we used to buy pizza from these guys when they served from a pizza truck on Shirley high street. Their expansion into the restaurant provides a high quality pizza restaurant in Shirley, which is great. Fantastic pizza and a lovely atmosphere. Definitely worth a visit!

Decided to visit here on a recent visit to Southampton as it was recommended by another friend.
The prices were decent, it had a great atmosphere and the food was good too. We got 2 pizzas, a mocktail, a soft drink, 2 pints of peroni, 2 pizzas and 2 tiramisu’s for less than £60.
Everything was thoroughly enjoyable but not the best I’ve ever had. Still I would happily recommend this place and I’d love to visit again the next time I’m down there. And if anyone would like a recommendation, the hot honey pizza was out of this world!

I’m big pizza fan and honestly for me this is the best pizza in town without doubt- . Dough for me it’s just perfect . All ingredients looks very fresh. We N ever had problem and we are there at least once a month. If you fancy really good pizza and nice atmosphere with very friendly staff just go to “What a pizza” you won’t be disappointed. Don’t forget try beer with raspberry syrup. Leave space in your stomach for their delicious Tiramisu

We were staying in Southampton en route to the Isle of Wight via Portsmouth ferry and chose What a Pizza over the chain eateries near to our Premier Inn. So pleased we did. Perfect in every way. Excellent pizzas: Great service: Lovely staff. All in all a marvellous experience. Thank you.

We've been here several times. Very good quality pizzas with generous toppings, delicious salads made with care not just pre-pack leaves dumped in a bowl. The gin and tonic is beautifully presented and high quality. The service is friendly and welcoming. Way ahead of your average pizza place.

This place is second to none. The pizzas are the absolute best!
I’ve had deliveries and made visits to What a Pizza multiple times now and can confirm it never disappoints. The hot honey pizza might just be my favourite pizza of all time!
We visited last night and were served by Kamil who was so friendly and welcoming. He was very attentive to our needs and and actually made time to stop and chat to us.
Don’t think twice, just visit. Or if you’re considering ordering a Dominoes, give it a miss and order a pizza from here instead. You won’t regret it.

Three of us came here at 6pm on a Saturday prior to going to a show, following a recommendation, and were more than pleasantly surprised. Lovely cosy atmosphere, and friendly and efficient staff/service. Plenty of choice on the menu (though a very minor gripe, I would have liked just a bit more seafood options) and excellent value. I had the spicy meat tomato base 12" followed by tiramisu for dessert, and a chilled wheat beer. We all thoroughly enjoyed our visit, I can't believe we've only just found out about this place! Will definitely be coming back for more!

we have been five or six times and love the place. Not this time the normal four of us went midweek . Kamil,s night off all was going fine great food the finished plates were left on the table. 9.30pm we asked for a last drink we then got the look it seemed all he wanted was to lock up. Two lemoncello shots and a gin and tonic please. We got two lemoncello spriziters and a gin and tonic. £8.00 each for the lemoncello and £8.50 for the gin made no attempt to sort it. So pizzas wine and drinks £200 included £19 service charge. Tried to contact kamil all ways no reply so sadly this will be our last visit

I already spoke with Christine about it and we found agreement but since your review is still here I need to share our point of view.
£200 for party of 4 with 3 starters, 3x12”pizzas, 1 salad, 2 bottles of wine, 3 pints of beer, 2 glasses of prosecco, 5 cocktails, service charge included, staying in a restaurant for over 3 hours (and leaving 20 minutes after our closing time): I’d say it’s quite a bargain!
On the drinks menu it is clearly described that we are serving Limoncello Spritz Medium or Large and Limoncello shots are served as Single or Double. You ordered medium so Peter brought to table 2 Spritzers. When your lovely wife said they were expecting Limoncello shots, Peter offered swapping Spritzers for shots at no cost and with no problems at all but ladies agreed to keep Spritzers. I don’t know why you are bringing Gin & Tonic here as on the menu there is only 1 option of this drink with price clearly displayed too.
About ordering times there is a misinformation from you: you ordered your drinks at 9:43 (verified by cctv), not 9:30 as you said in review. Even though it was just about our closing time and after our usual serving time (last drinks are served max at 9:40) Peter didn’t do any trouble with that and prepared your drinks knowing that him and rest of the staff will have to do overtimes that Wednesday evening.
I believe that 1 star review for this visit is way too low and unfair. Especially where “all was going fine great food” as you mentioned in your review.
By reviewing us here you forgot and ignored all your previous visits with both friends and family where every single time you left our restaurant very happy as we always provided top food and customer service.

Poor service, staff too busy talking to take away our plates or bring kids desserts. We were never asked if we needed more drinks. Vegan pizza was revolting and tasted like sick.

Wow, that’s a harsh review! Especially when your kids and partner cleared all their plates completely.
We don’t tend to interrupt our customers too much (so they can enjoy their company). We always offer more drinks when previous ones are finished (not 1/3 empty) and take away plates when dining is finished too.
We discussed with staff and reviewed your entire visit and it seems that you made your mind about this review before your food was even served.
Btw. stating that food served to you “tasted like sick” is just inappropriate even if you were so dissapointed.
Anyway, summer is coming so we hope you’ll get bit of sunshine in your life ❤️

Karolina always delivers a high standard of authentic pizza.
If you know your pizzas, this is “seriously as good as any” in Southampton.
It’s a modest neighbourhood restaurant in appearance BUT don’t be fooled as Kamil offers a warm welcome and the food never disappoints.
A terrific find that we visit as often as possible.
A Xmas menu will be our next visit for sure.

Great food with the family and the restaurant didnt dissapoint with their service. Felt welcome, served and treated like a real customer unlike some big chains where you have to chase the waiter for everything and rush to eat because you didnt booked a table. The pizzas were freshly baked from the oven and the quality of the food is there to be seen and eaten. It was a bit of a wait, nevermind it was worth the wait. Would definitely recommend

I've had a great experience here, the staff is very friendly, welcoming and helpful. All the food I've had, meat platter as a starter, a hot honey pizza and a chocolate calzone for a dessert was delicious. The pizza was perfectly crispy with fresh and tasty toppings. Would definetely recommend and I'm sure I'll visit again!
