Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

Parking at the back of Sainsbury's nearby is free for 90 minutes, so just right if dining here.
The restaurant doesn't look much from outside, but is tastefully decorated and clean and appealing once you're through the door.
Not many options available on the buffet so we chose from the main menu. Although they opened at noon the buffet wasn't ready until 1pm too, so beware!
The mixed meat starter for 2 was perfect. Nice meat and Pakoras, the Chicken Tikka was the best we have ever had (and we've both tried dozens of different ones at restaurants over the years). Juicy chicken, lovely flavour, it melted in the mouth. Bit light on mint sauce, could do with the little pots being three times the size. Nice fresh salad with it.
Unfortunately no check back so no opportunity to ask for more drinks when we wanted them, or more sauce (so we took a couple of spoonfuls from the big pot for the buffet). Helpful waiter did kindly turn the heating off while we were eating when I flagged him down and asked, it was so hot I had to fan myself, was only wearing a skimpy t-shirt too. Even the lady on the table next to us commented, and thanked me for asking for the heating to go off.
Tandoori king prawn starter was lovely, nice side salad and really good flavour to the prawns. Keema rice was ok, not much meat in it though. Chicken Jalfrezi wasn't great, very tart, the only flavour to it was strong peppers and tomatoes unfortunately.
It seems some dishes are excellent, others not great. Overall I loved my lunch but hubby wasn't impressed with his main course.
Drinks are reasonably priced, unfortunately not much choice if you just want a glass of wine not a bottle.
Looking forward to eating here again. Hubby will try a different main course, definitely not Vindaloo (bland and not hot) or Jalfrezi though.

As always a great night with Madan and Anil and the boys. The food here is always great and they always make me feel welcome especially with my little girl who loves the Korma source and rice. Thanks all for the great feed.

Visited here for a meal whilst visiting our daughter at uni. Booked in advance as it was a Saturday night and glad we did as it was pretty busy.
The staff were very friendly and attentive and the restaurant had a lovely atmosphere with people chatting, laughing and enjoying their food.
We ordered lots of food and it was all freshly prepared and delicious.
We had a great evening and would recommend a visit.

Parking behind Sainsbury's nearby is handy, just a short walk. Not particularly appealing from the outside, but once inside the restaurant it's clean, nicely decorated and now has very well spaced tables.
We were given hand sanitiser when we arrived, and when we left as well. The waiter wore a visor and was friendly but maintained social distancing too. Very reassuring to eat here in comfort now.
The mixed meat starter was delicious, really good flavour and cooked perfectly, just the right size for two to share. Chicken vindaloo wasn't particularly hot, more like Madras level but tasted good anyway. My prawn dish was excellent. The keema naan was very good, meat spread evenly throughout the naan.
We will definitely be returning here whenever in the area, the standard of food is excellent and the service is just as good.

First time here and I'm really impressed. We collected a takeaway this time but will most definitely be visiting the restaurant in the near future. Portions was generous and fair value. The meat in every dish succulent and perfectly cooked. All off the dishes was full of flavour, fresh and tasted beautiful. The naan breads was amazing, couldn't have been better. Best Indian I've had in a long while. Will recommend and return

Beautiful upscale setti g with white linen tablecloths and napkins, extensive menu, reasonably priced. Some main dishes had a starter size as an option. We had the paneer tikka which came sizzling on a platter with onions and bell peppers. We also ordered a dal, chickpea curry, and vegetable curry masala. Everything was excellent.. Highly recommend if you are staying in the Shirley area. We stayed at.a nearby guest house the night before a cruise.

I've eaten here 4 times now, had something different every time and loved it for the most part. Try the Bullet Chilli Lamb if you want a challenge starter - this will blow the head off even a hardened curry veteran! The only main dish I didn't enjoy, was the the duck masala as the meat had a very strange texture and despite supposedly having the same spice level as the starter, had no kick to it at all. Everything else has been perfect.
Only negative expereince so far was a Saturday evening. The restarurant was quiet when we arrived at 6pm, but after a catchup and hour of chatting over poppdoms and a couple of beers it was very busy and the staff struggled to cope and were unapologetic about it. We waited a long time in between courses and far too long for our plates to be cleared. We had to wave and stick our arms in the air for more drinks. Not ideal!
We did not tip on this occassion sadly.
Food - 8/10
Service - 6/10

None of our regular Indian takeaways were open for Sunday lunch and a friend recommended here.
I ordered online late on Saturday evening for collection the following day. Half an hour before collection I had a call from them to confirm the order.
Food was ready on time, collection was easy and the staff were courteous.
And what a beautiful surprise to find the food absolutely delicious. Chicken and lamb both tender and the dishes well spiced, the pilau rice flavoured with cumin, the soft and crispy naan bread.
Was a bit pricey, but worth it. Highly recommended.

I ordered a takeaway from Kali Mirchi online. When it was unpacked, the sauces for the poppadoms were missing. On phoning the restaurant, I was told by a very rude person that everything had been packed, nothing could be done and the phone was slammed down. The food was quite good but I will not be ordering from there again.

Went as a family and had a range of really tasty curries. The boys had a korma which was as sickly sweet as they always are but they wolfed it down. The biryani was delicious, meat fell off the bone and the rice was cooked to perfection. Husband had a chick pea side that was smoky and a dhansak that was nicely spiced.

The shared starter was lovely and gave us real hope for tha main course. This is the only reason two stars were given.
I had chicken bhoona.....(bhuna).... this was really salty and little chicken
Hubby had Kache Gosht Ki Biryani but it was clearly tinned veg and quite watery.
Chapati was burnt on the bottom and brittle.
First and last time I'd get any food from there

I visited with a colleague for lunch. All the seating on the RH-side of the restaurant features a banquette against the wall. We preferred a table with four normal seats on the LH-side. The tandoori oven was operational, despite it being a lunchtime. We took advantage of this by ordering Shahlik Chicken and Duck Tikka. Both tasted delicious, with quite strong spicing. For the main course I had tiger prawn Jalfrezi, with pilau rice. Again the spicing was very authentic indeed, on a tomato base. My colleague enjoyed his tandoori chicken massala. We were very happy with all aspects of our visit. The draught Indian beer was well chilled.
