So, my partner and I came to the Copper Clam for our anniversary. We are both employed in hospitality (I am a chef, my partner is a pub manager). We are both big seafood lovers, so it seemed like a nice place for somewhere to...celebrate. I would like to add that we’ve both got high expectations when it comes to food. Also for some context, I am allergic to the preservative commonly used in frozen seafood. When we arrived at the Copper Clam, we were very warmly welcomed by Fernando, one of the front of house staff.. he guided us to our table and politely made us aware of the dishes that were no longer available since it’s all fresh and they had ran out. We placed an order with Tigi, she was very helpful and made us feel very relaxed. She suggested good dishes and also brought our drinks over in a well thought out way.. didn’t open our white wine until we finished our espresso martini’s. She is a very valuable member of staff - she went above and beyond. We had 2 Espresso Martini’s, a Bottle of Sauvignon Blanc, Crab Platter, Serrano Ham and Clam Pasta and Crab fries.. great selection if I do say so myself. A wide variety of seafood plus some extra carbs just incase. The crab platter consisted of 6 oysters, 6 Scallops, a large handful of prawns, large handful of king prawns, bowl of mussels and clams, plus the big crab itself. The dishes were cooked brilliantly, even the pasta was traditionally and correctly, Al Dente. Nat came over to do a check back on us, he was very friendly and was happy to answer any questions. He also called out one of the chefs, Ash. I discussed my allergy to frozen seafood preservatives and he advised me accordingly, with plenty of confidence in what we ordered. We spoke to the staff afterwards, whilst discussing our Affogato dessert and they were all brilliant. The Manager, Kay was a pleasure to chat too and was very inviting unlike many other restaurants we’ve been to. We discussed usual hospitality jargon and had a brilliant evening. My partner and I, both agree this is the best meal out we’ve had since we can remember. Service was great, food was incredible and overall this experience is great. We will consider this venue more often, whether it’s lunch, special occasions or just a quick bite whilst passing by. Thank you Copper Clam and the team, for a wonderful evening.More

Whilst in Brighton for the weekend with friends, we found this restaurant along the beach front & decided to give it a go as the menu looked extremely promising. The restaurant itself is quite quirky given the building and arches it is tucked within. The...chairs though were super uncomfortable - flat wooden seat and slightly too small to be comfortable enough! There was music playing in the restaurant but due to sitting at one of the window seats at the top of the stairs, all we could hear was the loud pop type music coming from the kitchen downstairs and all the staff chatting & shouting across to each other - not particularly professional. We all ordered starters & mains and all of us were disappointed with the food. The scallops on the starter were over caramelised (aka burnt) and although the creamy kohlrabi & the white peaches were nice, they just didn't really go well together. The dish was also under seasoned and bland. The mains, again, were under seasoned and really disappointing. The plates were stone cold so by the time we all got our food, 2 of us had cold vegetables and the fish was luke warm - the only thing still piping hot on the plate was the fondant potato. The sides were also very average - overcooked grey-coloured fine beans...not appetising! The service was very hit & miss too - the staff were very friendly and attentive to ask how your meal was etc but the dishes came out at different times. Two starters were served together and then there was a good wait for the other 2, then 2 mains came out together & a third main came with the sides but the 4th main took ages to arrive. Overall, we were very dissapointed and wouldn't ever choose to return.More

The restaurant is very popular and I am a regular customer. Food up is very good. Service excellent. Occasionally there are problems as you would expect from time to time in any job or busy restaurant but the owners and staff are very attentive.

Whilst walking along the Brighton beach front earlier this month we came across this restaurant. They had tables outside overlooking the beach in a heated area given it was in the middle of October. I had a fresh sea bass and my wife who is...vegetarian had salmon with clams and curry sauce. Both dishes were absolutely delicious, so much so that my wife, who was a bit nervous about the shellfish which she normally avoids, absolutely loved it and was cock a hoop that she had eaten a clam! Sad I know. The service was excellent as was the wine we chose. Reasonably priced as well given the current climate/inflation rate. Overall a thoroughly enjoyable experience and a restaurant I would highly recommend.More

We really wanted to like this restaurant. Having read mixed reviews on tripadvisor we still wanted to give it a try, as the seafood platters sounded amazing- and being so close to the sea we thought we couldn’t go wrong. Unfortunately, we should have listened...to the prior poor reviews. The service on our visit was very good, and we could not fault front of house, but the food didn’t meet expectations at all. When asked what we thought about the food the best we could say was “it was ok”. 3 separate staff members asked for feedback, none of which resulted in any actual discussion - and they were really quite shocked that we thought the oysters were full of grit and the langoustines were hugely overcooked (and filled with water, so much so we thought they were frozen!). We would not come back, nor would we recommend unfortunately.More

We chose to eat at the copper clam, while walking along the sea front. We were tempted by the menu, in particular the choice of fish and seafood. We wasn’t disappointed. The mussels, oysters, lobster and steak were phenomenal. We sat outside and were given...blankets and the heaters were on, so we could take in the sea view and atmosphere. Sergio the manager and staff were friendly and attentive. A brilliant place to eat, will definitely be returning.More

The good thing about The Copper Clam is its location on the seafront. Unfortunately the food is of a low standard but priced relatively high - most likely surviving on tourist trade as opposed to repeat custom. The manager asks how food is but laughs...off any concerns or problems instead of solving them. We’d never go back.More

We booked a table for the relatively early time ( for Friday) of 7 pm. We arrived at 6.55 and asked for a table inside but were told we couldn’t have one due to a wedding party in part of the indoor section. However subsequently...others turned up and got tables inside. Anyway we waited 20 minutes before we got a menu and a further 10 minutes before being asked whether we wanted a drink. People turning up after us had orders taken. It was clear that the staff were under huge pressure and everything looked completely disorganised. We decided to bail out around 7.30 despite it being Friday and finished up finding a really good Indian restaurant ( Nooris ). Overall not a good experience!!More

I'm not sure. The restaurant is on the beach which is along the Front. The road that runs above the beach doesn't have any obvious places for a taxi to stop - and as we didn't use a taxi to get there, we simply walked along... More
