Family day out and we wanted to kick it off with a decent brekkie. On the strength of the reviews we chose The Place and we were not disappointed. This is not your standard greasy spoon fry-up. Their full English was generous and reasonably priced for the quality, it was all cooked to perfection and delicious. I was pleased to see a couple of different options on the menu and went for the spicy Portuguese sandwich which I would order again without hesitation. My daughter thoroughly enjoyed her big stack of French toast with apricots and maple syrup. Couldn’t fault anything if I tried and we will make time to visit again when we are next in the area so we can try more of their fantastic food.

My friend & I had dinner in this lovely restaurant this evening. Do go there for the amazing ambience, beautiful decor, soft lighting & great service.
We were made feel special with an attentive professional waitress, had a lovely table, the music was sublime & the food delicious.
A very appealing perk being currently diners can bring their own alcohol until the business is provided with a licence.
Most pleased that a restaurant of this calibre exists locally, desperately needed.
Tell your friends & family.
Honestly, the best dining experience I have had in a very long time.

It was noticeable that the other tables in the restaurant were all enthusing about how good their food was but we were still surprised by how delicious our own 3 courses were made when it arrived.
Everything about the restaurant - the service, food, decor - is reflective of it being run by family that really cares about its food and customers.
We went for a special occasion and they went above and beyond

7 of us ate here last night and I have to say that it was the best meal out I've had in ages. The seafood soup was delicious and loaded with cod, squid and mussels. The Rib eye steak was full of flavour in a delicious sauce. It felt like really good home cooked food at a very fair price. The service was excellent and the owners lovely. Would really recommend

A wonderful place for a date or meeting with friends, very stylish décor and atmospheric background jazz music. Dishes are breathtaking,
everything seasoned perfectly and beautifully presented on a plate. I recommend it with all my heart.

Been coming to Bournemouth to our 3 Timeshare weeks for over 45 years! Had some disappointing meals and seeing this new restaurant and it's reviews, had to try it. Wow! It's amazing. Family run, wonderful fresh food, friendly, attentive service and great ambience. Delicious prawns and mussels to start and main of succulent chicken for me. Husband's steak was cooked to perfection and overall we enjoyed it so much we've booked to return in the week. Wines were great too and reasonably priced. A lovely find.

We found the ambience and background music outstanding and were greeted with a warm welcome
The menu was short but we each remarked that everything sounded good and we could have tried all the menu.
In the end two of us had scallops, one mussels and the other that beef wrap. Each was delicious and very acceptable. The main courses were two of the days special, red fish and the others lamb shanks. Beautifully presented and very tasty, we finished off with Elton ness and a banoffee pie all washed down with an excellent red wine.
Thank you. We will be back.

I’m back in here yet again, can’t stay away! I’ve had my eye on their prawns for a while now and although I came in during the breakfast service, as usual they went out of their way to cater for what I desired. It certainly didn’t disappoint either, so much so that I’m sitting here now and waiting on my second round of it! They made it into a main dish for me also when I think it was originally a started dish. The best prawns of my life! All the food is amazing in here though. One of my very favourite places to come and sit and feast run by a lovely family.

My partner and I enjoyed an exceptional meal in this charming family run restaurant.
Beautifully crafted cocktails at the bar to start, a delicious, reasonably priced bottle of wine, two outstanding starters, mains, and a shared dessert, at £60 per person.
Personalised, attentive service from the two friendly front of house ladies. A perfect evening.
If we’re ever back in Bournemouth we’ll be back for sure!

We visited for brunch, I had the wild mushrooms with kale and poached eggs on a bagel and my husband had the Turkish Eggs. Both dishes were packed with flavour and we left feeling full. The service was excellent and the atmosphere was relaxed. We will definitely return.

Absolute top class quality food and excellent atmosphere! This is certainly the place to go in Bournemouth. Although visiting as a family, I normally eat out on restaurants several times every week on business across the country and therefore I am always critically selective about my selection of restaurants. Always trying to find where you have people striving to deliver top quality culinary experiences.
The Place in Bournemouth is exactly that! The food we had last night was delicate and with a brilliant fusion based mix of tasty ingredients based on only fresh produce. My wife and myself had the best pan fried scallops on a delicious pea purée as starters and my wife said her lamb curry mains was probably the best she ever had. I chose the King Prawn salad as mains and the prawns were so fresh with that delicious crunchy-yet-tender feeling on a bed of crispy various salad leaves and the garlic-spiced butter based and elegantly balanced sauce they were grilled in was to die for!
Lastly, the atmosphere that Simon and his family has created in the restaurant is really cosy, informal yet comfortable and they are probably delivering the best food experience in Bournemouth at the moment!
We cannot recommend it enough and will certainly return.

I had the fish of the day and it was wonderful. A large sea bass cooked to perfection with flavours that complemented the fish well. The waitress was friendly and good, it's not the best location but worth seeking out as the chef is clearly very talented.

Went with a group of friends for the Christmas dinner and WOW! The family running the restaurant went above and beyond to make sure we had the best experience.
Food was absoloutly amazing, we all had a 3 course meal and we all loved what we got! (I specially recommend the Turkey for the main)!
The location of The Place is also very good! it is really close to the town center but not too close that it´s loud or interrupting your meal.
I Definetly recommend The Place, you won´t be disappounted!

Amazing experience! My mum and me came here by chance as she was visiting me, and we were so impressed, wondering why there wasnt more people in!! The oysters were presented beautifully, and were so tasty, and harvested in Poole; they were HUGE as well! My mum got parmesan balls on a DELICIOUS romesco-style sauce that was one of the best sauces ever, with little anchovies on top.
Our mains were also delicious, and the staff was so able to talk to us and tell us about his wife who invents the menus. The only issue is too MUCH food, but for others it’s the perfect amount, so more of a personal problem haha. So incredible, and will definitely recommend to others and hopefully be back again.
The wine was also tasty!
Such a mix of fushiony dishes :)

Love visiting The Place when we are in town. Great family-run restaurant in a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere, with low key, smooth jazz music. Food cooked with love and passion. We chose delish seafood soup, fab skate, and a perfectly cooked ribeye. Generous portions and superb wines. It's worth every penny. No frills. Just fresh, homecooked food at its best.
