My wife and I attended a dinner party at Dicky's restaurant and had a fabulous 3 course evening meal for £15.00 per head off their Set Menu. Whitebait and Potato & Leek Soup, followed by butterfly chicken breast with a mushroom sauce and potato mash and then chocolate torte and sticky toffee pudding. All three courses were delicious and the quality of service and presentation was absolutely first class. Great atmosphere and will definitely be back. Thank You.

We booked for 7pm and were amazed how full the restaurant was. We ordered off the set menu and both had the pate (mine with GF bread) which was delicious. For the mains we both had the salmon and chorizo with saute potatoes - a very good combination, and were so pleased the salmon was steaming hot! We also had a bottle of house wine. The staff were efficient and very pleasant.

Dicky’s is a relatively new restaurant in Southbourne. It will appeal to anyone who wants a more sedate dining experience than the average. It has an elegant and stylish ambience which is certainly conducive to a pleasant, civilised evening out. There is no loud music. It isn’t noisy. You can actually enjoy your meal while talking to your partner. We will certainly go there again. The staff are extremely attentive, friendly, and professional. I started with a glass of refreshing Spaten beer and my wife had a Bellini, a cocktail she enjoyed so much that she copied it at home the very next day. Looking about I could see that the food was of a high standard, although, in all fairness, my wife’s Tarte Tatin was a disappointment. It had been partially cremated. We shared the mackerel starter, and a good job we did share. It was huge and it was excellent. I had a simple plate of haddock and chips for a main course. They were perfectly cooked, both the fresh fish and the chips. The waitress deducted the cost of the mackerel starter when I mentioned that the Tarte Tatin had ventured a little too near the crematorium, and she apologised for the error. Cost: one beer, one Bellini, and bottle of sparkling water and a bottle of Picpoul white wine, mackerel starter, fish and chips and Tarte Tatin = £77.10 (plus tip). Quite reasonable, we thought.

We have been there twice now and both times it was extreemly noisy, full of young women wh think they are something special and talk very loudly to get attention. I had the treacle tart for dessert and it was more like a lemon tart,no hint of treacle at all, the sauvginon blanc was expensive and tasteless. The main problem was the staff keep putting their hands on you all of the time not something I am happy with

Went for a family meal on Saturday lunch to celebrate a couple of birthdays and Dicky's was booked for us. Seemed to be quite busy so would say you probably need to book ahead but we were seated and served quickly. As well as a bistro style menu there's a range of 'craft' beers (no expert but did allow husband to try before ordering which was a nice touch). I had checked menu beforehand and had a good idea of what I wanted - fillet steak with salad no chips - however arrived with chips ... Didn't make a fuss as mine was last of six dishes brought out but will make a point should there be a next time. Food was well cooked (apart from the steak which was rare!) and portion sizes weren't bad - if being super picky the three fish and chips were all different sizes. Staff were friendly and as mentioned above helpful with beer choices. Would go back but a bit out of the way for us to become regulars 😀 .

Not impressed with attitude of staff..no ambience whatsoever. Full of what looked like day care or nursing home clients!. Fish dishes far from fresh - tasted like cheap frozen food!. Would not recommend this dreadful eaterie to anybody!. So bad in So many ways!.

We have visited this restaurant twice before 1 lunch ,1 dinner this time it was a birthday celebration for 2 birthday’s.we booked a table for 1.30 pm ,the service was excellent with very pleasant staff. Food was hot when it arrived and very tasty.we sat talking after we had finished eating and were not pushed to leave and we still had to ask for the bill. This place is a little find for Southbourne.

Visited this restaurant last night and had the Thai green curry which was very disappointing. The vegetables in it were lovely but the sauce was thickened, bland and unappetising. I only actually managed a few mouthfuls. As I was with a group of friends I didn’t want to complain at the time, so phoned the restaurant once home to give feedback. The owner/manager had no reasonable compromise, and repeatedly said he would want costumers to have a good meal. He did promise to check with the chef, check the recipe and phone me back at lunchtime today which he has failed to do. Would not recommend. Would not go back. Customer service not good enough.

We booked for a Thursday night and it was packed which was good to see when somewhere is new. We enjoyed a drink in the bar area first. We were shown to a perfect table, love the decor. Only negative for me is give me a linen napkin and not a paper one with each course. The menu is perfect with a nice variety of dishes and a set menu for set price - bargain ! All the dishes were delicious and catered for me being GF I did not know about the not taking young kids but how brilliant is that, nice to have a place like this as not everyone wants kids in a restaurant. Not all kids are well behaved so if they advertise that good on them ! More reason to go back. Great service great meal we will return.

We live in the local area and was pleased to see a new restaurant open up in Southbourne so we decided to pop in one Saturday evening. The restuarant has a nice atmosphere and is lovely decorated, however, we felt that the food was very bland...I ordered fish in batter and chunky chips and I have to say the fish was pretty much tasteless. I have to say that we were very disappointed as from the outside and first impressions it looks a lovely place but it isn't cheap and I am afraid I would have to say it is style of substance and we won't be returning.

Apleasant place, fully booked on Friday night, so we had to eat very early (5.30pm). Staff friendly. I had a truly horrible so called Toulouse cassoulet, a complete rip off at £18, consisting of a quite nice, but not Toulouse, sausage, sitting on top of completely dry canellini beans, with a few dry bacon lardons and some dry brown stands of what must have been duck, as that's what the menu said, topped with breadcrumbs to make it dryer and with a dry piece of bread. The menu said it was a bean stew, which promised some sort of sauce. There was none. Dry, dry, dry. I mentioned this to the waitress, who promised to tell the chef, but how did this help me? Apart from the sausage, inedible. The place gets 2 stars from me because my companions' food seemed OK, if pricey. I won't be back

the moment you walk in the venue exudes warmth and comfort. the staff were courteous and efficient. the dishes far exceeded my expectations. the spicy parsnip soup was delicious and plentiful and my main dish of guinea fowl and dauphinoise potato was a show stopper for me. Glorious food served in a comfortable setting.

I went for lunch with my partner and her daughter and were wowed by the quality of the food which also was very good value. I saw on another review that they don’t accept children under the age of 10 which someone had bitterly complained about. I think this is a great policy as there are plenty of other restaurants where children can run around as they often do to the annoyance of other diners. We have rebooked for early September for a birthday dinner for yours truly.

The interior wasn’t as exclusive as I was expecting, it looked very eye catching and classy as I passed by in my car. It feels more like a bar with tables around the edges. Nonetheless it seems a very popular place and I had to wait a week to book my table. My husband and I chose the set 3 course dinner - Pea and Mint soup which came with bread that was dry and going stale. Pan fried salmon with crushed caper and whole grain mustard potatoes with green beans and a butter and chive sauce. This was delicious, it was a huge portion of succulent salmon, very enjoyable followed by a Lemon Summerberry Posset. This was lovely and a perfect end to the meal. I also enjoyed a lovely Firefly soft drink and husband had a glass of wine. It’s quite noisy and the music is loud, so it’s not the intimate fine dining venue I was expecting.

Finally managed to get to Dicky's after a few false starts on our part. It was a Saturday evening and they were very busy, but the staff were all very attentive and friendly. The pork belly starter was delicious and very large for a starter. I had the seafood linguine, which was presented beautifully, piping hot and super tasty. Wife had chicken caesar burger from specials which again was delicious. Tiramisu and coconut and lime cheesecake were great desserts and the bill was very reasonable. Definitely coming back next chance we get.
