Really friendly and helpful staff, great views over the harbour and a very tasty roast dinner for the girlfriend and I. We had prawn cocktails to start and roast pork for the main. Holly the spaniel took her share too. Perfect, thanks. GilesMore

Booked a table as I was staying at the hotel for my birthday. Was shown to a table with a dog right next to it sprawled on a blanket. I asked for a different table without specifying why so as not to cause embarrassment but...as the member of staff wasn’t budging I had to say why. Another member of staff came and said that I could be moved but then they couldn’t stop another dog being seated next to me. I was made to feel embarrassed and so I left. I’m not going to specify why I wanted to be moved, I might have a fear of dogs or I might be allergic it shouldn’t matter. I’m also not going to debate whether dogs should be allowed inside or whether there should be separate areas. The point is there were other tables I could have been moved to and I shouldn’t have been made to feel awkward. Ruined my night, had to have room service instead.More

IT was early evening when we walked down the slope and into the Working Boat for a special meal. The skies of broken cloud with a little sunshine threw the yachts in the estuary into relief and our table inside had good sea views once...we'd used Covid sanitising and taken our seats. We chose grilled fish and two portions of jambalaya which arrived in cast iron bowls full of taste and flavour. It was as much as we could do to eat it all. Service was friendly and attentive, toilets were clean, the setting was great and we had plenty of space around us so we could enjoy our meal without feeling hemmed in by other diners. The beer was well kept and desert was a triumph of treacle tart with lashings of clotted cream. The whole bill with a decent tip came to £80 with drinks which we felt was very reasonable. The combination of the setting, the service and the food means we have no hesitation in recommending anyone to give the Working Boat a try. You won't be disappointed.More

Not very busy when we arrived, we were seated quickly and offered drinks. The food was fantastic. Shared a platter of starters which was delicious - garlic prawns, mini chorizo, focaccia and olives. I chose the jambalaya for main which was nicely spicy. Others chose...the special which was locally caught fish (can’t remember which, sorry!) - judging by the clean plates this was a hit!More

Given that this is attached to the Greenbanks Hotel, we had high hopes. But the service is hit & miss (though charming when it happens), the marquee has a strong car park vibe, & the food ranges from the underwhelming to, in the case of...the lentil & bean burger, the inedible. Great view, (though less so from the tent) so one for an outside drink only.More
