Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Relatively small room but with pleasant decor. It's a place where we feel good. Reserved table properly prepared when we entered. Good service, good starters and shad with roe stew on point. Those who ate seafood bread also appreciated the quality. Prices are a little high but it is understood and accepted given the treatment and service. It's worth repeating.

This is a very typical Portuguese restaurant.
The food is outstandingly good.
Really excellent taste.
I had some Portuguese ham as entry course and it was delicious, very similar to Spanish ham.
Then, I had Arroz de Tamboril e Gambas, which is Rice with Monkfish and shrimps: this was definitely the best rice with fish that I have ever tasted in my life.
Supergood.

I went with a group of highly competitive athletes! I am aware that the type of service we needed was not the easiest for the restaurant (nor the most profitable)!
They were exceptional! Attentive, careful and flexible! The food excellent!
I will never tire of recommending them!
And as there are no coincidences, the next day we were national club champions!
Well done to all collaborators!

17 people 677 EUR (not including wine as it is separate)! Very expensive!
Homemade food but for a eating house it was extremely expensive (40 EUR/person, I repeat with wine paid separately by the birthday boy or girl who invited us). The dishes ranged from 20 to 23 EUR/person depending on the menu but the side dishes were separate, and the starters and the rest cost + 20 EUR.
An experience not to be repeated.

A classic for these sides.
We were a group of six and shared two spots of lumbo that were divine and a tamboril rice that did not stand out, knew too much the tomato mass despite the fish being good.
The follow-up of the scenes were small doses.
Prices are a bit high.
Friendly attention.

We only went to the O Forno restaurant on the last evening of our stay because it was previously closed for holidays.
I recommend booking to make sure you get a seat.
Very warm and family environment.
The best sirloin I tasted during my stay in the area.
High quality red wine.
High-end prices.
It costs a lot, but the meat second courses are really worth trying.

I went to this restaurant for the first time. A pleasant surprise in all aspects. The friendliness of the person who answered the phone for the reservation two hours before and then at the reception at the restaurant. The space is very pleasant. We ate Madeiran kebab which was very good. Friendly staff. Regarding the price... within average for the food and restaurant itself. The return of absolute certainty

This was our favorite meal during our week in Portugal, even counting the 1-star Michelin restaurant in Porto. This small family-owned restaurant/tavern had a rustic feel (beautiful dark woods), excellent, hearty food, an enthusiastic attentive staff, and although no one there spoke English, we had no trouble communicating. When we sat down, we noticed the large party at the table next to us had two huge barbecue spits - one loaded with prawns the other with hunks of beef. So we pointed and they were delivered. We also ordered a few dishes from the menu and then asked that they add anything else they were proud of that they thought we would like. Generous portions of everything came, the wine was excellent, we laughed and had a grand meal. Extremely reasonable cost. Parking was easy for us - there's a small lot in the adjacent square. Very picturesque part of town. Though Vila Franca de Xira is listed as a city of 100,000, this area had the feel of an old village. Highly recommend. -an experienced traveler

We visited the Forno Restaurant during the celebration of Colete Encarnado, the largest event in Vila Franca de Xira showcasing the bulls and the bullfighting. Colete Encarnado dates back to 1932, takes place during the first weekend in July and attracts a large crowd to the different activities, including the fado and exhibits.
After a long intercontinental flight and a quick drive from Lisbon we were ready for a late lunch and decided to join Armand in VFXira and spent the day. The restaurant was well decorated, the service excellent and the Arroz de Tamboril very good.
Let's enjoy the Colete Encarnado.

Absolute wonder. Quiet, calm environment. A little cart with pearls. Just try the Arroz de Tamboril, a rice with a lot of fish and prawns.
Wonderful.

Very well received by staff, even with 2 small kids. They went the extra mile to keep them happy.
The food was excellent! Both the meat and fish.
Highly recommended. Parking is not easy, though.

I had visited this restaurant in 2012 and returned this year. Was staying lically so made 2 trips this time. The stek kebabs (served on a hanging sword) are amazing. Superb quality beef and cooked to perfection. Reasonably price wines and interesting deserts make this a restaurant not to miss if you are in the area,.

Typical food, very well cooked, bit expensive...
You can try the bacalhau (cod fish) grilled or boiled.
The kebab of beef is fantastic and may serve 2 people.
Ask for the house wine.
Do not forget desert!

We started with a platter with presunto (kind of parma), olives (marinated black an green) and a wonderful bread with presunto baked in the bread. The bread seems to be a specialty in this area but there are not many places left which serve this bread. Then "Arroz de tamboril" - a kind of risotto but with a wonderful sauce and monkey fish. Mouthwatering really. Then "Espetada Madeiranse", grilled fillet of beef served with wonderful pommel (home made of course" and a butter which I didn't taste. The beef was splendid in all matters. For a desert we ordered some kind of surprise and they showed up with fresh fruits, ice cream and some good sauces. Wine list is better than average with a couple of not so usual wines for reasonable prices. Portuguese wines only :)
