Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We went in for breakfast on our way south from Auckland. It was not too busy. It was clean, so were the toilets, The tea was excellent (strong) and coffee was good. My wife hard ordered "Chicken, Bacon & Camembert Flat Grill". It arrived with...chips which she didnt want and returned. My wife enjoyed the flatbread. I had ordered "Potato Rosti with Smashed Avo & Whipped Feta". It came with a choice between Salmon, Bacon and Mushrooms. I had selected Mushrooms. I didn't get asked how I wanted my egg. Mine arrived with Salmon, I told the waitress that I had ordered Mushrooms. She was the one who had taken the order in the first place. She took it away and came a few minutes later with the meal with bacon. I decided to not bicker and started eating it. The bacon was dripping in oil, why cant they dry it with a paper towel ? From the shape the egg was supposed to be poached but was hard boiled. The avo was okay, the rosti was excellent. I couldnt taste any feta. Half way through it the waitress turned up with my meal with mushrooms, I looked at her wondering what was going to happen and she turned around and took it back to the kitchen, I get it that people make mistakes - but two mistakes !! What matters is how they handle it. In this case, she should either have replaced my meal. Or given me just the mushrooms. There was also no apology. And Coffee Club is expensive, so they should give decent service!!! We are never going back. From other experiences, Bombay is to be avoided for meals !!!More

The Tea was strong and good and the coffee was passable. My wife ordered Chicken, "Bacon & Camembert Flat Grill". It came with fries, which she didnt want. But she was happy with her meal. I had ordered "Potato Rosti with Smashed Avo & Whipped...Feta". I got asked to select between Salmon, Bacon and Mushroom. I selected Mushrooms, I didnt get asked how I wanted my egg, so it didnt occur to me to tell them. Mine arrived with Salmon, so I told the waitress that I had ordered Mushrooms. She was the one who had taken the order in the first place. 5 minutes later, I got handed a plate with bacon. I decided not to bicker and started to eat it, The bacon was drenched in fat, why cant they dab it with a paper towel ? Half way through it, she came over and said your meal with mushrooms is ready, I just stared at her. And she took the one with mushrooms back into the kitchen. Everyone makes mistakes and its hard to get good staff. What defines a place is how they deal with it. They should have either replaced my plate or given me the mushrooms on the side. From its shape, the egg was supposed to be poached, but it was hard boiled. I couldnt taste any feta. The avo was fine. The rosti was excellent. Will we go back, never ever... It is weird that the last restaurant we went to at Bombay was also atrocious !!! The food is always overpriced at the Coffee Club.More

No masks used by any of the staff, no gloves, no tongs removing items from the cabinet. When asked why they didn’t need to use masks, manager responded “up to staff. They can if they want to.”
