We looked at the outside of the bar with the stained glass and decided it was a little different, so we stepped in for dinner - a party of 4. Hosts were obliging, meals were enjoyable and wine was good. The quirky bit was the...decorated ceiling and other artifacts befitting a chapel. As we all had a sense of humour it worked for us. An enjoyable dining experience.More

First time in Chapel Bar & Bistro last night and it definitely did not disappoint. The drinks were great (thanks Matt), the food was really yum but the staff topped off our night. We had two bar ladies come and check on us to make...sure we were okay!! Best place for dinner and drinksMore

Called last week to book at table of 10(the maximum allowed during level 2 restrictions) for a birthday & was told a table would be sorted to just ask for Warren when we arrived. Upon getting to the door the bouncer told us that 10...people wouldn’t be allowed in .. hate to be that name dropper but asked for supposed manager on duty Warren .. bouncer came back with a dark haired woman who took one look at us and said “Na no chance” and then walked back in. I asked the bouncer once more if there was a Warren that I could speak to .. a short man with tight hair came out and once again just said no to the bouncer and told us to try elsewhere. Suggest the venue find managers with experience in hospitality as the people running the show on a Friday night lack a hospitable streak. Not a very accommodating bunch... bottom of the barrel customer service😁More

Hadn't been to Chapel in many years, revisited this month & was pleased to note the food was still yummy, service still good and they have retained an interesting wine list. Only issue they have always had is with the acoustics - it's very difficult...to have an audible conversation inside even when it's not at capacity.More

Went there last night with my netball team mates. Amazing staff and lovely reception. We had espresso martini’s which were delicious. Would 100% go again!

After wandering around looking for a place to eat, we spotted Chapel and decided to stop in for a beer and a quick dinner. We were greeted with the warmth we've come to expect and enjoyed a meal of fish-n-chips (wife) and a burger (me)....We sat outside and enjoyed the evening air and great people-watching along Ponsonby Road. I recommend this place.More

This became our 'local' watering hole during our recent visit to Auckland. Great mash-up of kitsch religious iconography (think open handed Jesus with neon-lit pistols). Nice spot to while away the time while watching the Ponsonby parade pass by. Didn't try the food but looked...tasty.More
