Stopped by here for a coffee while en route from Te Anau to Queenstown
The coffee was good, and the service was friendly. The gentleman who made our coffee gave us some good tips on thing to do on our trip.
This was on the left hand side as we drove the stretch from Te Anau to Queenstown in Garston. Not many places to stop so it was a welcome find and had a good honey shop opposite. The coffee was good and there was a...small choice of biscuits and muffins.
The assistant was on his own so the service was very slow despite there being only a few people to be served! He needed help. There was only one muffin left... looked sad and the biscuits we chose were rock hard.More
We stopped for a coffee as too early for lunch was nice and clean . The man who served us was friendly . We came away with a coffee and a Muffin as it was $8.Muffin was fresh coffee was ok but not quite hot...enoughMore
We stopped here on route to Queenstown, the food was overpriced, but did actually taste pretty good. The men who served us were nice enough, but it just was not great for the price we paid. No kids meals. Curry of the day was butter...chicken and was really nice.More
We were greeted at the Garston Hotel & Cafe by two over enthusiastic and under qualified cooks.
We were seated in the garden bar that looked like Uncle Terry’s overgrown backyard.
Before we received our stale buns and rotten avocado, we were given a jug...of cutlery that consists of 1 fork, 3 knives and 8 spoons.
I’ve added 1 star for the quick service - the waiter/cook literally was sprinting to deliver our 4 orders.
Plenty of parking space though.More
We stopped here en route to Te Anau. It was about 2pm and we were the only people in the cafe. We were served by a somewhat distant young man quite quickly, and ordered 2 soups.
After 25 minutes they finally brought out our soup....It was one of the worst soups I have had. It tasted like it had a whole jar of dried herbs in it. I ate none and my husband managed to eat nearly half (we were hungry!). The slightly toasted bread was ok...The member of staff who served us didn’t even ask how the food was.
At $15 each it was very disappointingMore
We were passing through Garston on our way to Queenstown, and discovered this friendly cosy little gem
They have a new Indian chef, called Dil, he makes a mean vindaloo plus much more. Highly recommended!!! If you are passing through, please stop in and have...a feed and a beer with the friendly bar staffMore
