This restaurant is a jewel in the crown for Fielding. It is a cosmopolitan quality venue in provincial NZ. The service was super efficient, relaxed, warm and friendly. Courses were served with just the right space between. The food was amazing, immaculately prepared, cooked to...perfection and beautifully presented. Succulent chicken, butter tender steak, and eye candy deserts were all scrumptious. Just couldn't say more about how great this restaurant is. Yes it is city priced but the experience is absolute value for money.More

We were walk ins but no problem as they weren’t busy. Lovely service and very quick to get our meals. Food was good and as a fine dining restaurant I did not feel over priced. Would recommend

3rd time here over several years. They focused on super special intricate chef quality food. Now they are more expensive and quality is very average. A garlic bread to share was bland not crispy and basically yuck. 2 mains for 78 dollars of 300grm steak...both ordered rare came out medium rare and actually medium medium rare. These mains had deep fried onion rings and four large chips. Oh and 1 piece of brocolli. Could have cooked them better myself. Desert was nice but the whole meal was way too expensive for the mediocre result we got. I think they have really lowered their standards and are trading on their old reputation and have increased their prices.More

A birthday present voucher was a lovely way to spend a Saturday night at this local fine dining restaurant. We started with the chef’s homemade chicken liver parfait with sourdough and chutney and homemade garlic bread and cheese. Both were very good but a little...too much and one would have been enough for us albeit pay for double the crunchy Sourdough. Our mains: Angus Pure 200g eye fillet steak cooked to perfection (medium) and Beer Battered fish of the day. I definitely had food envy as the steak looked amazing and got high praise. My fish was fresh gurnard but was very simply a fillet of battered fish and homemade chunky agria chips with a dry smear of pea purée. No salad or tartare sauce which I could/should have ordered the salad as a side. We shared a special, not on the menu a cold coconut tapioca - it was superb, light delicious, mouthwatering flavours. It was a perfect end to our birthday gift celebration outing. The wine list is extensive for a local restaurant. Service is friendly but on point. It was great to see the restaurant was virtually fully booked - we are very lucky to have such a gem as our local fine dining option.More

We found the menu to be too limited, and with the average main being well over $40, we also found it to be very, very expensive. Extra mashed potatoes was $9.50! A shame, because the food was good, but we'll not be going there again.More

Been here a couple of times, both times disappointing. Even the website is bad. I think they are trying too hard. The menu is pretentious, confused and over priced for what it is. I had pork belly, the crackle was good but the meat was...really salty. My husband had chicken which was dry and over cooked. Dessert was boring and again overpriced for what it was. Service was slow and offhand, they weren't hugely busy. Fair to say we won't be going back.More

I booked this restaurant the day before to celebrate Father's Day with my husband and for my birthday - requested with Jen the Manager to sit one of the booths, which she stated was available.. On arrival we were seated in the main restaurant not...a booth. . The cocktail that I requested was not available. We waited a long time for the complimentary dishes, which were tasteless and frankly not worth the wait. The starter of the 5 course was pickled carrots which was laughable. However, to be fair the fish and meat dishes were delicious. I personally do not think waiting 30-35 minutes between certain courses was acceptable and value for money. We left that restaurant deflated and disappointed.More

We arrived & were very quickly asked by the co owner if we wanted water which we declined so the glasses for that were quickly removed but at that point we weren't asked what we would like to drink. After selecting our food choices we...sat and waited some time before being asked what we would like to drink. We chose a wine & it was a very small serve which was quickly finished. We sat there the remainder of the evening with empty glasses without being asked if we would like another. Yes we could have got up and gone to the bar to ask for a drink but decided to see how long our empty glasses would be ignored. After all the restaurant pride themselves on service. Well we sat there the rest of the evening, we had a waitress put a candle on the table & light it, plates were cleared, the main was brought and never were we asked if we would like a drink. They were not busy as the girls were wiping glasses & cutlery & setting tables being vacated. The food - starter of bread, garlic & spreads. Most of which you could buy at the supermarket. The main, we had steaks was more like pub food than fine dining. We were never asked if everything was OK or if we would like anything. We didn't have dessert as we just wanted to go and have a drink somewhere.More

Great starters. Service okay. The lamb main dish was too chewy. Not the level I expected. All other dishes were good.
