About
bekko - (Japanese) Translation: Different, separate; type of koi fish teppanyaki - a style of Japanese cuisine that uses an iron griddle to cook. The word teppanyaki is derived from teppan, which means iron plate, and yaki , which means grilled, broiled, or pan-fried. Teppanyaki is also the style of cooking where skillful chefs perform elaborate tricks on the teppan plate in front of you while they cook your meal. Welcome to Bekko Teppanyaki. Named so as our aim is to provide you a wonderfully different dining experience. We source our produce from local suppliers to guarantee fresh and seasonal ingredients with an ever-changing menu to keep you coming back for more. Our chefs are highly skilled and trained to provide you with an entertaining night of tricks and interactive fun while cooking your meals fresh right in front of you. We are fully licensed and also have a wide range of Japanese liquor for you to taste, try and learn.

Be prepared to have your food thrown at you, really. Very entertaining and clever as the chef cooks on the hot plate in front of you and signals when to hold up your plate to catch your food as he flicks it from the hot plate to your plate.
Something different, you sit in groups around the Hot Plate, the chef in the centre. Not for a quite intimate dinner for two as it is audience participation. As much entertainment as it is dinning.

Had tea last Saturday, meal was delicious however the chef (Max) was very disappointing.
Ate here a year earlier and Eric was our chef then and we had a fantastic night with lots of laughs.
We went this year for a birthday and Max barely tried to entertain us. There was no onion volcano stack. he only encouraged four out of eleven people to try to catch food, and those four didn't catch it as he wasn't experienced enough to direct it properly.
Max then just cooked the food and three people then tried to catch the rice.
All in all, it was very disappointing and embarrassing as we had friends up from NSW and had told them how much fun the night would be.
I was annoyed because I had requested Eric and was told he wasn't there, led to believe that he didn't work there anymore however on the night, Max advised that he did.
I had asked what Max was like when I booked and was told that he was very good and funny - he was the complete opposite.
I doubt that we will be going back again.

For a meal with a difference Bekko Teppanyaki is worth a visit, even if for the entertaining chefs alone.. We were in a party of about 20 seated around two grills, so were treated to two shows as each chef cooked the meal. The quality of the meal is sound with each diner able to select two proteins which are cooked with a lot of theatre along with special friend rice and vegetable is front of you. The result is the equivalent of a fresh stir fry with the right sized potions served up straight from the chef to you.

This place is a joke . The worst food ever. If you like
Big portions don’t go here. I fell sick paying $140 for something noddle box could of made and waiting over a hour to eat

Max was our grill host. Very cheerful and appropriately fast with the grill tools and flavour shakers! We chose the set menu with choice of 3 mains.$65 pp. Prawn, Scallop and duck (that tasted like beef!) for me. We got to watch Max with an adjoining table of 9 people. Again very engaging with the group and his grill plate.
Very uplifting date night for hubby and I.

We went to Bekko for my daughter’s 11th birthday and we are so pleased we did!
So much fun, watching Max make fried rice and us trying to catch it!
He was very entertaining and had us all in stitches.
The grandparents who came along, who live in the area, had never had Teppanyaki before so it was a real treat for them.
It was a little on the expensive side but well-worth it just for the good food and laughs. Many thanks Max! We will be back!

The amount you pay, the food really isn’t adequate or at the standard it should be. It’s a fun night but don’t expect anything more than that. Expensive but as I said, the value is in the entertainment. Go for that and not the food.

I'm so pleased we visited this restaurant. Our daughter who lives at the sunshine coast suggested it as an early evening meal . Its not classy, but then neither is the price, its extremely well priced and the entertainment whilst cooking our meal was first rate. And have to say so was the meal, it was excellent. If you want luxury then its not for you, but luxury comes with a price tag, this was a great evening of great food, great entertainment and excellent staff. We will be back.

Food was absolutely stunning. Between my partner and I we had the calamari, duck, scallops and chicken. I don't usually like seafood, but the calamari and scallops were divine.

One of the best teppanyaki cooking experiences we have ever seen. The chef had exemplary knives skills and showmanship. His interaction with customers had us in stitches.
The food is by set menu, starting at about $50 per person. Vegetarian was a little cheaper. Good range of sake.
Would like to return, but a little pricey for us.
