This new place (it is sited in the old Subway site) is all fun with bright colours crazy plates, glasses and plastic furniture. But the fun is not in the food its seriously good, we came for lunch and had to queue its really busy but the girls were helpful and we waited as everyone looked like they were having great food both on the sidewalk and inside. Once we were given our table a brief on the menu was given water placed and we were ready to go. Great options and lots of drinks so perfect, once ordered the food was fast to appear and really well presented and all tasted great, spicy but not too hot, and plenty of side sauces if you wanted really hot and spicy. A great place to come as a group as it was really fun and a fun environment, We walked past both during the day and evening and every time it was busy so dont come here in a rush, even though you can have takeaways its busy, come to enjoy and have plenty of time

My wife and I heard through a friend that this Vietnamese restaurant was not to be missed when holidaying at the Mount.
Everything went like clockwork, right from start to finish.
When I went to book a table for two, I stood in line and once I got to the front of the queue I was told it would be 40 minutes before a table would be free.
I was expecting this as our friend gave us the heads up.
Because we knew that there would be a wait, my wife was waiting at a bar down the road while I gave the reception staff my cell phone number and name.
The 40 minutes went quickly and a table was free.
We received a text and was also followed up with a phone call.
The service we received was exceptional.
Beth our waitress was extremely helpful.
Beth was brilliant she sat down along side of us rather than standing up over us and guided us with the best food choices available.
My wife is a vegetarian and Beth slowly walked us through the vegitian options.
Beth was genuinely concerned that we had an awesome dining experience.
The food was exceptional but the service we received was off the scale.
Well done team.

We had a lovely meal everything we had off the Menu we enjoyed.
The Cocktails were nice and a good price.
It was very busy and we still got good service, you can also get Takeaways so a good Idea if you want to eat good food and sit on the Beach.

Terrible service and rude staff. Took an hour for the food to arrive with no help from the staff when after 45 mins they told us they had no ingredients for 2 of the dishes. Food was alright but not worth an hours wait.

Following a recommendation from our adult children we recently visited Rice Rice Baby for an evening meal. There was a warm welcome from the waitress and a very good outline of how the menu could best be used. We chode some main dishes and some sides and shared everything. The food was superb. It came quickly, was well presented and had all (and more) of the anticipated flavours and taste. The waitress checked with us regularly in case anything else was needed. This unpretentious little restaurant provided us with a very pleasant dining experience. We will return!

Super tasty and reasonably priced food. Everything was steaming hot when it came to the table, proving how fresh it was.
We ordered lots of the small plates which were a decent meal size. Particular favourites of ours were the summer rolls, vegetarian wontons and the salt and pepper squid.
Leaving with happy, full bellies is always a good sign... we will be back!

Visited this small but vibrant restaurant in My Maunganui and were all delighted by its cuisine, atmosphere and staff !! Wonderful flavours of their food and great cocktails ... we have already suggested friends and family to go and enjoy this experience too and we’ll go again on our next trip to The Mount. Well done Rice Rice Baby 👍

Rice Rice Baby has been recommended to us plenty of times since we moved to Tauranga. They were all right. So right, that I'm a little disappointed that we haven't tried them until now.
Even after a 20 drive back home from picking the meal up, the food was still warm, tasty and everything we hoped for. The spring rolls were good, the chicken noodle soup a hit with picky kids, the spare ribs were very more-ish, that banh mi was easily the best I've had in years, and apparently the duck was full of flavour too.
Trust me, everything you hear about Rice Rice Baby is true.

Food was amazing! We will be back to try the rest 👌 between me and my partner we ordered 5 different small plates and there was more than enough for both of us everything was delish and it was good value also. Staff were friendly and we loved the vibe of the place. Thanks Rice Rice baby

We have often walked by this and thought the atmosphere was fantastic and authentic.
We were met by a super friendly waitress and she told is about the menu. We chose a seat and our waitress came and took our order.
The food was fantastic and very authentic. Highly recommend the prawn and coconut dish.
My wife is from Asia and an ex restaurant owner herself so she is very fussy.
Service from all staff was very friendly and professional.
We will diffinatly return. Good selection of DF and GF food.

This place lives up to its rating and the recommendation we were given to go there. The food was sooo good. So warm and nurturing and the staff absolutely lovely. I have a mushroom allergy and this is the first place that brought our food, all of which never normally has mushrooms anyway, and said noted mushroom allergy as they announced the dish and set it on the table. Such a small thing but it made me feel safe in knowing I didn't have to worry about anything. It was such a small simple thing to do that made me feel really taken care of.
We went on a busy Saturday night and the staff still regularly checked in on us to make sure we had everything we needed and when I had trouble reading the menu before I knew it a magnifying sheet was brought over to me without me even asking or saying anything.
As for the food, it was delicious. We tried a few dishes and everything was great. It all tasted good but also felt clean, fresh, healthy and nurturing. We left feeling so good and with happy bellies.
Highly recommend, even worth waiting if they are busy.

We have regrettably only had take outs from this restaurant which appears to be really well patronised based on the fact that on my regular drives past it appears full.
Known from the past, it is a small restaurant and I believe they don't take bookings. We are often spur of the moment diners and don't like waiting so to date have not enjoyed a meal there. However I can only but rave about the ake outs we have had .. a real taste sensation on some of them.

We had lunch here at a quiet time of the day and were surprised at how long the food took. However, it was very fresh on arrival and the duck salad was delicious. It’s more of a young-crowd place with quite loud music and not so comfortable stools. Great table service. Friendly staff. Good food but just not that relaxing.

Our friend recommended this place to us as a must try since we were visiting from Auckland over the weekend. The food is so delicious and divine. The flavours in the dishes were complex and it blended well together. The spare ribs and chicken wings are a must try. Also enjoyed the "I know how to make a mango banana's" cocktail 😍 The cue to get a table in the restaurant is well justified. Could you please open a branch in Auckland? 😉

Rice Rice Baby is my favourite place to eat on my own or with my husband or for takeaways. The menu has so many options for someone like me with dietary restrictions, it is all insanely delicious, it comes out super fast and is great value for money. I often order takeaway for lunch if I am nearby because it is ready so quickly, I can order online and by the time I drive down the road to get it it’s done. The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is because it can be quite loud so it’s not ideal for catching up with friends or having decent conversation over dinner. Otherwise it would be my choice for every occasion 😊
