Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

1 Jan 2025, stopped for a pie on our way to Kaikoura and boy, were we surprised. 'Family' sized steak and cheese pie heated and dined in for 12 dollars. Great friendly service. Highly recommended.

This cafe offers a range of wholesome and tasty pies, and was a welcome stop in the iconic former gold mining town of Reefton. We had been driving through the Lewis Pass on our way to the West Coast, and chose Nana Ni's simply because it seemed so busy. I'm told that the pies are all home made, and very good they were too. Contrary to some other reviews our fresh brewed tea and flat white coffee were just the job.

We read some of the reviews on Trip advisor and had heard good things about nannani’s.
Well, we were not disappointed!
I am always in search of a decent pie and could probably give you the “list of my top 10 pies in NZ( yes Fairlie Bakery is on the list, as well as Pats in Rotorua) both amazingly good pie shops but, ladies and gentlemen ( drum roll please!) NanaNi’s is now NUMBER ONE!!
I had a bacon and egg pie. The pastry was superb. Flakey and melt- in-the mouth, but also not greasy.
The filling was chokka with creamy egg mixture ( like scrambled w) and dotted with chunks of ham/ bacon. Absolutely delicious.
Hubby had steak and cheese. The pastry was rolled very thinly so it was light. He described it more like a short than a flakey pastry.( quite different to Fairlie Bakery which uses a more flakey pastry- both are very good but different.
The filling had just the right combination of cheese, decent sized chinks of steak and very tasty gravy. He gave it a 9/10.
The pies in the cabinet have an unassuming look but they certainly over deliver on taste!
The lovely girl behind the counter was charming, and was pleased to hear we had come all the way from Hamilton for a Nan Ni’s pie!!

Nana Ni's wasn't opened when we stood staring in the window at the full pie cabinet on New Years Day. The person in the shop saw us and opened up and sold us delicious pies - even though we were an hour or two before opening. Now that's service - and was much appreciated.

Stopped for diner on a long drive. Classic kiwi burgers and fish and chips. Ingredients were fresh and high quality. Execution was spot on. A high quality example of the genre.
Cheers guys.

Working hard at providing meals for travellors. I had fish and a salad and hubby had a berger and chips. I had some of his chips. The salad was good but the fish was disappointing. A bit overcooked. Chips tasted good.

The worst flat white coffee we have ever had. It tasted like instant, extremely strong and extremely hot. Not creamy in any way. Avoid this place!

Of the various eating places on Reefton’s Broadway, this cafe seemed to have the biggest selection of food. Quality was also very good.

Unusual for much of the character of the town, this establishment did not appear to be too interested in making a visit welcoming.
Small array of options available.
