Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Worst lunch we have experienced. Definitely give this place a wide berth. Food less than average, some inedible. This used to be an amazing cafe but is less than a takeaway bar

This place is clearly only surviving because of being the only place in town. Keep driving. Crispy chicken sandwich was nothing but fried breading. We asked for ketchup to go with our fries and were told it was $1 per packet. Nothing in the store...has prices on it. Staff is not very friendly. Overall just not a good place to stop.More

Great little corner shop and cafe conveniently located on the corner of Kingston's Kent St or main road, and only a 30–40-minute drive to Queenstown.

This is the only place in Kingston and as a venue for a meal it might be wise to avoid unless it is a matter of starvation. The offering was basic pies, sausage rolls and fired stuff that had been heated via lamps for an...unknown time. All self-serve which was not that great.More

Bought a salad sandwich on the way through Kingston and when I went to eat it the sandwich felt quite light so I opened it and was shocked to find a 1/3rd slice of a very small tomato, 1 slice of cucumber, 1 small slice...of an egg, a piece of cheese, slice of ham, 1 leaf of lettuce & a small bit of dressing. But no butter or margarine. It was $5 so I was completely ripped off.More

I know this is a new business since the old cafe closed so I'm hoping the improvements are ongoing. I've stopped twice but see no need (as a local) to stop in again. The previous review was right about staff etiquette, but I'll pass on...the food as i didn't buy from the cabinets. First impressions though... Curtains are for houses not corner shops. They make the shop look damp and mouldy, just how it is from my perspective looking in. I can't look at that and feel happy buying food. A better solution, and i hope you will, is cover the windows with pinhole graphics, let light in, hide the rubbish view. First impressions count and they're not great. If you reply with excuses then i hold no hope for what was is Kingston's first impression, just annoying to drive by it every day looking so drab. Here's hoping i can edit my review soon!More

Excellent date scones and tea here at a well-situated little café on a corner of the lake. Super little suntrap out the back was a lovely place to relax. Earl Grey tea was a nice bonus!

So pleased we found Kingston Corner near the start of a long drive down to Manapouri. Lovely coffee, delicious cheese scone and great selection of cakes. Gessica was very friendly and we would stop again if our travels bring us this way.

In transit and nothing on the street - so you take what you get and it was great. Hot strong coffee to go in massive rain.

What a ray of hope on this day. We had been driving for hours in the rain and were in a bad mood. We had imagined a different kind of holiday. Then we found this oasis and were suddenly satisfied with ourselves and the world....The attentive staff served us routinely and very friendly. The food was tasty and so we left the restaurant strengthened in direction to Queenstown.More
