Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Just to let you all know that the opening hours are incorrect on this listing. They open at 5pm, ,not 11am as stated on weekdays. They are however open from 11am on the weekends. Such a shame it looked like a lovely place for lunch.

My new favourite spot near QT! The loveliest atmosphere with the kindest staff and the food is amazing value for money. The staff couldn't have been more helpful and kind helping arrange a vegan option for me. The view and atmosphere is so beautiful and...relaxing and watching the train come in as you eat is a real treat. 10/10 for everything- can't wait to come back!More

Coffee was okay but generally the place was pretty average. Loud music, slow service and no scones or snacks. Disappointing.

We visited this cafe which is in the converted railway station. We only stopped for coffee, so can't comment in the food. The staff were friendly and helpful and it was a nice warm environment in which to sit on a cold wet day. There...is alot of steam train memorabilia around and great views across the lake and mountains.More

A cafe in a historic Railway station. Staff were very pleasant and accomodating. The Station has a historic steam train running 1.5 hour trips 2 a day at limited days that adds to the experience. Coffee and food was great. Recommend the stop.

Service was fantastic, beer was cold, and the food was absolutely awesome. I would rate the burger right up there with the best I've ever had, although at $36 (bacon & cheese were an extra $6) for the burger and fries, it's pretty pricey. Overall...though, I'd definitely recommend this place.More

We stopped here for a quick drink and to feed and change our little one on a long drive and it was great. The guy behind the bar was lovely, the coffee was good and the facilities for changing a baby were much better than...a lot of places we have been. This is definitely on our list of stops for next time we are driving through.More

If you are going to do the hour or so drive to Kingston from QT and look for a meal / drink when arriving you only have one option so Kingston Flyer enjoys a domination. Everything was ok with nothing special on offer - the...menu was plain and simple and prices ok. There’s not much more to say – if you need a meal / drink then you have to go there so take it for what it is and enjoy the walks / views.More

Yummy food, Gorgeous ambiance, friendly and helpful staff - everything you could ask of a restaurant. Our (shared) dumpling entree was superb, my caesar salad was delicious. My husband enjoyed the battered blue cod and chips, and the salad that accompanied it was very generous.

Hidden gem, stumbled across it by chance and had a couple of fabulous plates. Spring rolls and aranchini balls. All dishes home prepared and it shows. Well done and I hope lots of people come and visit!!

The Kingston Flyer is a cafe and bar and the day we visited it was busy with what seemed locals and visitors. Plenty of history too the place. Cosy and welcoming. Worth a visit.

We stopped here for a break on route to Te Anua. We really enjoyed the food, it was excellent, particularly the vegetarian option. The restaurant has plenty of old photos and interesting articles on its origins and the area. The staff were very welcoming. We...would highly recommend.More
