My husband and I have visited Black Beech before, back before it had new owners and didn't have the best experience. The pizzas were not very nice and the owner seemed like she was annoyed she had customers and didn't make us feel very welcome....Anyway, this review is about our recent experience. After learning Black Beech had new owners we decided to give it another try as we wanted to eat somewhere with some family who were visiting and he hoped the place had improved. The service was absolutely amazing. We were warmly greeted and the server/owner was very friendly and attentive. The tapas was very nice but unfortunately, the pizzas were still the same. We had hoped new owners meant new recipes but that was not the case. The bases were dry(and not in a crispy wood-fired way) and tasted like they might be bought frozen bases and the pizzas as a whole were tasteless. It was like no salt at all had been used in the dough or sauce. We had 5 pizzas between us and the only one with some flavour was Mt Grey and that's only because of the blue cheese. We were all very disappointed and while we'd happily come back for drinks and tapas, none of us has any interest in ordering pizzas again.More

My son had a garden wedding in Oxford and Black Beech did the catering. Tapas type nibbles were laid out for afternoon tea and the most glorious array of gormet pizzas. The pizzas were beautifully tasty and significantly better than 'takeaway' type pizzas. The staff...organised the presentation of the food which was done in a friendly, professional manner. Superb food and service.More

It's very very popular with the locals. A Bar with good choice of craft beer, wine and gourmet pizza. It's more than just the ordinary bar food, there was a new tapas menu, we were delighted to have such a good selection. We ordered a...few tapas dishes and a pizza. They were all very yummy, particularly the squid and mushroom dishes. Highly recommended ! The service (by the owner's daughter) was friendly and attentive and we had an enjoyable dinner.More

Even if called '.......Wine Bar' there is far more to it than just vino. Pizza, snacks, etc. and if you prefer a cold drink but wine, have a beer or juice w/ your delicious food.
