Superb Service, Superb Food. Recommended. We dropped in to order takeaways, and felt so welcomed we had a glass of Vino while we waited. We were even served water and treated like special evening diners while we waited. The food was delicious, which was a...bonus, as the overall experience was above and beyond. Thanks Indian Hut!More

Thank you for the wonderful meals my husband and I enjoyed tonight. The butter chicken and beef rogan josh were plentiful and full of flavour. The restaurant is beautifully presented with friendly and efficient staff. We will call again when we next pass through

We were passing through Oxford on route to Christchurch recently and as we were needing something to eat decided to stop of at the Indian hut resturant . This was unusual for us as we don’t often eat Indian food .Very glad we did as...we were delighted with the service from the owner and the young waitress who served us . But above all the food was first class . My wife wasn’t sure what dishes would suit her as she is vegetarian but the owner took time to explain what might be best and with this advice she chose a vegan mowgli . She was very happy she did and thoroughly enjoyed it . I had a chicken dish which was excellent also. With an ample bowl of rice to complement dishes our appetites were satisfied . Unfortunately for us we can’t return to Oxford as we are heading back home after our holiday but for anyone who is in the Oxford area through travel or otherwise this resturant is well worth a visitMore

My Indian wife and I have dined at Indian Hut several times as an important part of a day away from Christchurch hiking/walking in the great bush walks of the area. The small town of Oxford is indeed fortunate to have this restaurant. I concur...with other reviewers and their spot on comments. The food is faultless every time. Service is friendly and pleasant environment inside with choice of seating and views. We are lunch diners. The value for money is fantastic and the lunch menu offers many options. We have tried chicken tikka masala, korma, madras, vindaloo, and mango chicken, all were memorable. The mango lassi is a must and is heavenly. An amazing gem in the heart of a country town where the curries are just so consistently good. Well done. We hope many more diners will give Indian Hut a try. The waiter told us they had a full house on a recent Saturday evening. Great news. You deserve it. Over the coming summer we will head that way more often and lunch visits at Indian Hut are definite. We sincerely recommend this restaurant.More

A welcome change to the average cuisine Oxford has to offer. We have eaten here a few times and it never disappoints. The portions are generous, price is reasonable, the people are so friendly and welcoming and we can't fault it. Hopefully other locals like...us will continue to support this wonderful small business and visitors will find it rather than heading to the very average pie shop next door.More

I have started increasingly finding that the better restaurants in terms of ambience, food, and presentations are found outside of Christchurch, for most cuisines. These places offer reasonably priced food, a more relaxed ambience of eating out, nice and courteous staff, nice seating, decent parking...facilities, and most importantly (for me), good food! Indian hut is a relatively new place in Oxford on the main street. Easy to find and stays open for longer hours than the previous Indian place it replaced. We went for a short lunch on an afternoon. The owner was super nice behaved person who guided us to a table. They have outdoor seating arrangements (plus inside seating, the heating was good). The menu card had a generous range of delectable choices, and one item that drew our attention was the 'roll', that we have not spotted in other Indian eating places around the country. The roll, as it says, consists of meat/paneer/chicken cooked in sauces and (some vegetables) wrapped in a tandoori roti. In streets of Calcutta where it started, it is also often called 'hot kati roll' (hot food on bamboo skewers). We ordered a couple of lamb rolls for the two of us. The meat was fresh, the sauce was well prepared, just had the zing we wanted (tip: ordering a 'medium' hot is generally a good idea with most Indian places), a combination of heat, and sweetness in the korma sauce was really pleasant. I wished they served the famous 'Indian spiced chai', considering that it is a Punjabi restaurant (I wish they had this!) Verdict: great place for hearty robust great 'Indian' food, portion sizes for the price is _really_ worth it, they do not skimp on food, seating is reasonable sized, good seating, nice, quiet decor. Hey, five on five. We will definitely be back and then report more on this place. Go there, great place, it's worth the drive from Christchurch.More
