Four of us went on a Saturday night, we were hungry. Waiter was very friendly, helpful and had a great sense of humor. Restaurant was not particularly busy. Menu looked great, nice assortment of food. I ordered assorted naan basket to come with meal, my...friend ordered the appetizer assortment. It was average. The onion pakora was crispy and tasty, the samosa was good, there was some sort of fried chicken strip, not spiced or anything, that was puzzling. My friends ordered lamb saag and saag paneer. I tasted the lamb, that was good in terms of the spinach, spice, flavor and texture. I don't know about her lamb. I ordered the lamb korma and will say I was disappointed. It had lamb cubes, small and not the most tender, in a sauce that looked and tasted like cream of tomato soup. Unfortunately, this is the type of dish a person new to Indian cooking gets and is turned off forever. The sauce was heavy but not flavorful, so I picked out the lamb and ate that. Lamb was chewy. The fourth person played it safe with the Nepali fried rice. It looked interesting, she's never had this sort of food but liked it. Finally, the naan was a little disappointing as well. It was not a nice texture, very thin, no nice big "burned" spots from tandoor that give is such nice flavor. The sweet one was good - flavor wise they were tasty, but not the soft and wonderful naan one usually receives.More
I was delighted to discover this new Indian/Nepalese restaurant on a recent business trip to Salt Lake City. The new location at 214 West 600 South in SLC is ideally situated for business travelers and close to major attractions. I enjoyed a house special item:...lamb jalfrezi and was impressed with the generous portions and savory stew. I paired this dish with the house lentil soup and freshly made naan. Everything was fantastic! Highly recommended.More
Gura’s is quite a scrumptious option if looking for Indian food. Their butter chicken is tender and delicious. Of course I opt for only white meat(chicken breast), this isn’t offered but I request it and pay any additional charge. They are so wonderful they never...have an issue making the substitution for us. We visit and revisit Gura’s frequently! We highly recommend whether you want it delivered, pick it up and go or sit inside this is one of the best restaurants for this type of cuisine!More
There are a few better buffets, but this one is the best deal around. The Nepali and Indian cuisines have been modified for typical Americans to love. As the buffet is ready I can go and be back to work in about the same time...as those that choose fast food and I eat so much better here, health-wise, taste, and quantity.More
My son worked here, so we were able to eat there often. The chicken tikka Masala is the most popular. You really can't go wrong with any dish. The price is a bit on the high side compared to other nearby Indian/Nepali restaurants.
Very good Indian cuisine. Flavorful with a nice balance of spices. Family owned and attentive to your needs. Lunch buffet is a great bang for the buck. Good selection of adult beverages to compliment the extensive menu choices. Best Indian in the south valley.
