There isn't a big choice of places for a meal in the area and I didn't want to cook. We called into another place first but the carpark was full and there weren't any tables so we made our way to Surf and Turf which is part of this tavern. We started as the only people in the restaurant but some others did turn up while we were there. We had a large cheese pizza for starters at a cost of $10 and then Steak and chips with a mushroom sauce for me and Steak and chips with a garlic butter for him. The meals were huge (should have left some on the plate), they were reasonably priced and we will come again. Hopefully have some room for some dessert next time.

Popped in for a meal over Queen's birthday. Most of us ordered a steak and chips and we were happy. The deserts are huge and only $6. Once again not very busy. Not sure why as good pub food and will bring the whole family next time.

Enjoyed our meal tonight, good food with great flavour. Excellent value. Asian fusion style menu lots of options to choose from. Child friendly sat in restaurant area.

Waiter / service was friendly.
We got the pork belly and the pork was tough & no crackle. Small portion for price.
Chicken & Bacon pizza was pretty tasteless , hardly any chicken & it didn't have bacon it had ham. Base was hard.
Wouldn't recommend.

The food was excellent as was the service. The menu prices were reasonable and the portion sizes were substantial, enough so that we couldn’t fit in dessert.

While the decor is pretty average gotta say the food is way above average

Crap food .. steak not cooked how we requested .. shrimps were chewy in the shrimp cocktail .. everything is cooked from frozen like what you can buy in a box from supermarket .. prices are ridiculous for what you get .. my chicken snitzel was very small with a few chips and a soggy salad literally saturated in dressing, mushroom sauce was tasteless ... surf & turf is a rip off, one scallop that has obviously been frozen, crap cut of meat and once again soggy salad ..
Triple check your bill if you do go as they tried to overcharge us.
Won’t be going back and would NOT recommend

Having not heard great thjngs decided to give it a go.....had a good time, bar staff polite , Hameed excellent, booked formth restairant and ate the meals in the pub, husband miffed as he only got one scallop,in his surf and turf and is advertised as scallops, he did,tell,them an s means more than one, my fish was delicious, pub had plenty of friendly locals and yes we will go back

This is a nice and friendly bar. Close to the town. There is ample parking. We had a nice afternoon with the locals.

3 drinks, 2 house reds and a crona...$25!! Am I out of touch with pub prices? We went there, 3 of us for lunch. Having been fleeced $25 for just 3 drinks, we sat there (TAB playing in the background) finished our $8 drinks and left!! We were not about to find out what Ruakaka Tavern thought their fish'n'chips was worth!
