The food we purchased was the worst food I have ever tasted. The sausage rolls were under cooked, verging on raw and the steak and cheese pie should have been advertised as a gravy pie. This so called pie had only two very small pieces of meat. When I returned to tell them about our experience the manager was dismissive and argumentative.

Dear Appalled, We note you have very recently joined just to make this review, I have asked my staff and acting mangager at our Country Bake store in Ruakaka if any incident of this type has happened in our store and they have confirmed as not, we have operating camera's and would be more than happy to go through with you. There is another independent Country Bake in Whangarei but this review is for Ruakaka and we cannot speak for them. About your allegations about our sausage rolls and steak and cheese pies Sausage rolls: We bake, which cooks them, then rest to form shape, then reheat it at 200 degrees, we can assure that our sausage rolls are never undercooked Steak & Cheese pies: our steak is placed before gravy so we can ensure consistency each and every time with every pie that leaves our kitchen, we pride ourselves on having the heaviest pies around

Quality food!

We stumbled on `Country Bake' by chance. Normally, whenever we stop at Ruakaka, we go to the main part of the shopping centre, thinking the eateries there are the only ones to choose from. However, on this particular day, we chose to park in the shade, which took us around the side of the shopping centre. We parked directly outside of Country Bake. People were coming and going, so we knew the food must be good. Inside was some of the most delicious looking baking. None of the usual cakes and slices that many cafes and bakeries choose to serve up. Lots of variety! There were plenty of savoury items to choose from too, and homemade pies, which, on this occasion was what I chose to buy. (In fact, the steak and cheese pie was so delicious I bought a second one!) On the way out, we noticed that there is an ice-cream and juice parlour attached to the business. This is part of Country Bake too. It is a large venue, with plenty of tables to sit at - inside and out. My friends all said they enjoyed their food and next time we visit Ruakaka, Country Bake is where we'll buy our lunch. Highly recommended.
