Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Went here for a casual breakie by myself. The place has a nice feel and gets great morning sun outside. I reckon you can tell a lot about a cafe by their scrambled eggs and how well they produce this kiwi staple. They were fluffy and just right. ( maybe could have had some micro herbs? ) The smoothie was also very nice and the coffee. It would be my pick in havelock village for cafes.

Was delicious. Very generous meals and super tasty. Bao buns were homemade and the best bao bun our Bao bun connoisseur had ever had. Accommodating with childrens drinks. Will definitely be back when we visit again

Staying in Havelock North we found Wright & Co an excellent choice for Breakfast & Coffee. First meal was so good we returned the 2nd morning to share a breakfast. We found the serve to be ample to share, it did not disappoint. A very busy well run cafe. Support Local NZ.

Recently visited this establishment for breakfast, as is normal we have to check what menu options are gluten free as my wife is coeliac. When we questioned a member of staff she called over what I assume was the duty manager. This person was extremely rude and stated anything with GF next to it is gluten free in a very patronising manner, however the entire breakfast menu did not have GF and it was only the lunch menu. When I then asked if nothing on the breakfast menu was gluten free then she replied well ye we can used GF bread. We left and went to Maina down the street and had a amazing breakfast served by respectful and pleasant staff.

Not small child friendly. Went for an early lunch with my mum and 10month old. Found a highchair with no tray, which is fine but the table was at my sons chin level so not thought through when they purchased them. My son was playing with the table number and I was rudely told to 'put it back in the table holder it's not a chew toy'. It was a plastic number, there was no way he was going to damage it. Our food was bought out which was not cheap I must add, and when I chopped up some bits of pumpkin for my son and put it on the table in front of him a plastic plate was quickly bought over - anyone that's ever had a child would know that that would end up on the floor in 10split seconds but the waitresses seemed annoyed when I said not to worry. My son then sneezed and banged his head on the table because of the height of the highchair which caused him to cry from a fright and the looks we received from behind the counter were disgusting. No guests around us seemed bothered at all but the staff were horrid. I left so quickly because I was nearly in tears over the experience leaving my poor mum to clean up because we felt we would get told off if we didnt. Was ashame because the food was actually quite nice. Babies are just little people and are still learning and if we don't give them the chance then they never will so I'm just one person but I know me and my wider family will not be returning after such an experience and such a wide selection of baby friendly cafes in Havelock. I would have spoken to you about your attitudes upon my departure but was pretty upset by your treatment- we felt like the entire time we were being watched to be told off about something.

I was treated like utter garbage. The day after my father's funeral I had brunch with some old school friends of my father. As soon as they left to go to the airport, the owner immediately ordered me to move tables because he was "running a business" and one individual occupying a six person table was "costing [him] money". Now, it was quite clear that I'd consumed 95% of my meal and I was leaving soon anyway. But this guy couldn't wait a few minutes even though no new customers were needing my table then. When I pointed out that this was a super d*ck move, the owner kicked me out. Complete and utter sociopath! The food wasn't bad and the serving staff treated me well, but the bearded owner's attitude was totally unacceptable and no paying customers should have to deal with such impatience and rudeness.

My wife ordered porridge. It was served, and I tasted as well, cold. She politely asked the friendly waiter if it could be warmed up, The manager/chef, a bearded man, came over to our table, and told my wife that the porridge was indeed warm, he had measured it, and in his 20 years of being a chef, has never had a complaint about cold food. We were shocked at this poor individual's paranoid behaviour. I walked over to the waitress at the till, to inform her that we are leaving. The bearded man accosted me, told me to F*+#k off out of his cafe, and that he is the owner of the business. He stood so close that it was either his beard, or breath that smelt really old and off. We left, and really felt sorry for this man, paranoia is not an easy one to deal with in the cafe business. Much harder than popping a bowl of porridge in the microwave for a minute.

Wright & Co are now open for dinner and what a great place to eat. The 4 of us had an absolutely divine meal, we were well looked after by Gladys, she was professional, attentive and very helpful. The food was so delicious and beautifully presented, I especially enjoyed the entrees, so good we have to return for more....

Outrageously expensive cabinet food, and to be honest by Hawke's Bay standards it was ordinary. $8.80 for a scone. In fact by any modern NZ standards it wasn't worthy of the price. Hawthorn Cafe round the corner leaves it for dead on food, service and especially the coffee.

The food in this place is quite nice but eye wateringly expensive for what you get. A side of spinach was $6.50 and then I was really unimpressed when they wanted to charge me for HOT WATER 😳 really?! A bridge too far. When I brought it up to the owner she fired up immediately instead of explaining her policy calmly. Thanks but no thanks can't recommend this Havelock north eatery with so many other options around.

Please don't go to Wright and Co if you're thinking about opening up your laptop!!! The extremely rude owner/manager made me move to a different table because I was taking up a valuable table for paying customers, and "i'd only ordered a coffee" (his words), I reluctantly moved and then proceeded to work and order another coffee and croissant. A few hours later in front of people, he came over and said "You need to leave now, this is a restaurant not a work station, he unplugged my laptop and wouldn't leave me alone until I packed up my belongings and left. Disgusting behaviour for what is otherwise a nice cafe! I won't be giving my business to this man every again!

Amazing! This place was buzzing with people and looked incredibly busy but as we (three of us) walked in we were instantly acknowledged. We got a table and before we even sat down we were greeted again with friendly service and water. The service throughout our e Ostiense was awesome. The cabinet food and menus were full of delicious food… the only challenge was what too chose! We ordered at the counter and within 5 -10 minutes of sitting down our food arrived… I’m a harsh critic and love trying new eateries. This place was probably one of the best cafes I’ve ever been too. Couldn’t fault it!!

This is a very relaxed and nice cafe in Havelock North. The food offerings are good quality, with a pleasing range. You can have morning tea, lunch or afternoon snacks with a drink. There is indoor and outdoor seating, great for a sunny day - but outside the seating is kerbside, so you will notice some traffic and passers by. Coffee is good here.

Spent an hour browsing in Havelock North and noticed plenty of people eating outside here, and the food looked good! Decided to call in for lunch and certainly weren’t disappointed - delicious. Open Greek sandwich for me and pumpkin and feta pie for my husband and both had excellent flavours and the coffee was good too. Recommend :-)

Great assortment of fresh delicious made food. Cabinet chooses looked great too. They were able to adjust a regular dish to gluten & diary free without any fuss.
