A lovely takeaway meal

We got takeaway butter chicken from here during a recent stay in Havelock North. The restaurant is literally right across the road from our motel. We also got a cheese naan each, and were upsold onion bhajis. We were offered a seat while we waited, and given a poppadum to munch on. Very friendly service. The bhajis were nice but a little dry, though after we’d finished them we found a little container of sauce that would have made them perfect. The butter chicken was very nice, we got mild-to-medium hotness. The naans were extremely nice, we love dipping them into the butter chicken sauce and eating them. We were given a complementary poppadum each which was nice, plus a menu was stapled to the bag as well, a very nice touch. Next time we're staying in Havelock North we would definitely go back here, either for a takeaway or an eat in meal.

Great food and service

Four of us dined at this restaurant this week and universally greatly enjoyed our dinner. We shared four mains (bhindi, dal tarka, palak paneer and aloo ghobi) all of which were delicious and distinct. We had a variety of homemade breads (I personally really enjoyed the missi roti) and to cap it all off we finished with homemade gulab jamun which were lovely, soft and syrupy. Yum!! The service was welcoming, the surroundings comfortable and the price affordable. All in all, a lovely evening out for all of us. PS just by chance, we had been at a friend’s for predinner drinks when their son-in-law arrived with takeaways from the same restaurant. Our friends said that Great Chilli is their favourite Indian restaurant as well…

Yet another great meal from this fine establishment

We stay in Havelock North several times a year and at least one evening of each stay we get takeaways from here. The restaurant is literally right across the road from our motel, so we always get takeaway meals. I ordered online, and it was ready in 20 minutes. We got a butter chicken (comes with rice in a separate container) to share, and a garlic/cheese naan each. I spotted chocolate naan on the order form so added one of those too. As always, it was a beautiful meal. We get the curry at mild level, and really like that level of heat. The cheese/garlic naans were extremely nice, we love dipping them into the butter chicken sauce and eating them. We were given a complementary poppadum each which was nice. The chocolate naan was heavenly, I really really enjoyed it. Hubby didn’t have any (though I did offer him some). I’m the one with the sweet tooth! We will definitely be eating dinner from here next time we’re in Havelock North.

A very nice meal

We stay in Havelock North for a few days two or three times per year, and our motel is directly across the road from this fine establishment. We normally get takeaway for our dinner, and this time was no exception – we prefer to eat “at home” as we can feel more relaxed. I ordered online, a very easy process. We chose our favourite, Butter Chicken, which comes with rice. We also had a cheese and garlic naan each. As always the meal was really delicious. We go for the “mild” hotness but you can choose several different heat levels as you wish. We highly recommend this restaurant for either eat-in or take away. We will be back next time we’re in Havelock North. I was too busy eating to remember to take photos...doh!

We normally get takeaway for our dinner, and this time was no exception – we prefer to eat “at home” as we can feel more relaxed. I ordered online, a very easy process. We chose our favourite, Butter Chicken, which comes with rice. We also had a cheese and garlic naan each. As always the meal was really delicious. We go for the “mild” hotness but you can choose several different heat levels as you wish. The cheese naan was superb. Unfortunately due to a family illness back at home we had to cut our stay in Havelock North short, or else we would have had another meal from Great Chilli later in our stay. We highly recommend this restaurant for either eat-in or take away. We will definitely be back next time we’re in Havelock North. I was too busy eating to remember to take photos...doh!

We only tried this Indian restaurant as all others were shut on the Tuesday evening. We really struck lucky. The food was very tasty and portions were reasonably sized. Would definitely revisit when we’re back in the area. Great for the veggies and the carnivores!

Good times with friends an Great curry

A group of 12 went for a byo for my birthday. The curry was very flavorful and authentic. The staff were very friendly and accomadating. We had a great night and beautiful food. Highly recommend the Great Chilli for a great night 😊

wow what an awesome meal that was. The Lamb was cooked to perfection, plenty of sauce and flavour too. Lamb Vindaloo and Lamb Korma....YUM

"Always Impressive"

I think we have taken (Takeaway) now 3 times, and each meal has been amazing. All the wonderful flavours are there. Also the Staff are lovely to deal with I totally recommend them. Thanks so much Andy

A belter of a curry -fantastic flavours and soon will be No1 in Hvelock!

Ordered takeaway from an easy to use website. On pick up [on time] very pleasant staff. Had- Mixed platter- incredibly succulent Palak Paneer - one of the best we have had Rogan Josh - again one of the best Naan breads nice and stretchy and tasty. Absolutely get out there and support this little gem of a place The only reason I think it is lowly ranked at present is that it is fairly new to town
