Well worth tasting

Outstanding evening, unexpected because of one friend saying a friend had warned her off, but we all ( 7 of us) agreed the food was terrific, interesting, tasty and great value, we would go back, we enjoyed debating which was our favorite taste, generous serves, although we did order fries as well, they came highly recommended! We sat outside which was snuggly with outdoor heaters and we think for size of our group best place, inside was jammed and we thought loud... wine is also very well priced. Service was fast and efficient, would return and tell friends to make sure they went too.

A great place to eat, drink and be merry!

We recently moved to Havelock North after many years living in Wellington. We consider our standards to be pretty high after being spoilt by the range of great places to eat out in our old home town. After reading about Mary’s we were excited to try it out. Our experience was positive from start to finish. Our family of four arrived in the early evening without a booking, but this wasn’t a problem to the friendly staff member who found us a table. Although the the menu had many enticing options, we all chose a burger. We had even arrived in time for happy hour, so enjoyed cocktails, wine and beer at a great price! Service was great, food and drinks were delicious and we were out in plenty of time for whoever had booked our table without feeling rushed. We will definitely be back, in fact Mary’s might just become our go-to place when friends and family come to visit. Thanks Mary’s.

Buzzy and modern.

It seems this is the new place to be in Havelock North and with good reason. It's got the semi-industrial look with a compact open kitchen that is required these days. We were there a on a week day and it looked like bookings would be required if you wanted to eat. Ths menu is small but well formed and we enjoyed our meals. The wine list reflects its origins and is basically Craggy Range, but there isn't much wrong with that . I really liked the eponymous chardonnay. The service was pretty good given how full the place was. We had a good time.

Mary’s is magnificent!

If you love delicious, well considered food combinations - do not miss Mary’s when your in the Hawkes Bay. We were blown away by the food, just amazing! You can’t go wrong when there’s really friendly, attentive staff - serving outstanding food and wine, within a comfortable space. We had a great evening, and would love to dine again next time we’re down this way.

Extremely Disappointed

It promised well with friendly staff, but they were busy and couldn’t cope. Our drinks came after we had finished our starter and my fish managed to be both overcooked and greasy. The wine list is pretty much limited to the Craggy Range offering. We went elsewhere for dessert and drinks.

A great spot for dinner, delicious food and top service

We went for a family dinner and everything from arrival to departure was very good. The staff were brilliant, knowledgeable and friendly and ready to ask questions of the kitchen if they didn't know the answer. My prawn entree was superb but very filling which meant I struggled to finish my main of fish so possibly share some entrees if you want to eat more than one course. We had the Craggy Range Mary Chardonnay which worked splendidly with the fish and was reasonably priced. The lamb was also adjudged well cooked and delicious.

A perfect exierience

What a wonderful experience we had at Mary’s when celebrating our wedding anniversary recently. The team at Mary’s are so friendly and professional. We choose the banquet option from the dinner menu and it was one of the best meals we’d ever had. The wine list is superb, which is expected due to the connection with Craggy Range winery. Thank you to everyone at Mary’s. You know how to look after your customers and do so with smiles on your faces.

We came on a Tuesday for a bite and, loving craggy range, were interested in what Marys offered. An uncomplicated menu with a separate small vegetarian menu- uncommon in New Zealand.We loved the ambience, service and food. The only downside was the French fries - I expected something less “ commercial” and the aioli was mayonnaisie....we would definitely come again though.

Great service and delicious food

Stumbled on Mary’s while looking for a Monday night quick dinner. Will definitely be back. Friendly, professional service added to a great evening out. Delicious food beautifully presented. Prawns cooked perfectly and smoked fish croquettes really yummy. Glad we stopped by.

My great addition to Havelock North

I’ve been to Mary’s a number of times and have always thoroughly enjoyed my experience. The food is delicious, my favourites are the cheese-y burger, the fried chicken and the gnocchi. The staff are also lovely and the place has a great atmosphere.

A few misses, but mainly hits

Can’t decide if it is a wine bar, mid priced bistro, high end restaurant. Probably is something in the middle. In the end the food does the talking and this is very good. Caramel and chilli pork fillet (was belly the night we were there in a menu change) was outstanding. Fried chicken was overcooked but tasty. Beef tartare was average. Too many condiments with it and the bread was stale. Wine list - mainly CraggyRange as you’d expect when the place is owned by them - pretty good. Very popular with locals. So book ahead.

Brunch , worth it !

Went to marys incidentally on the first day they served brunch. Seated near the kitchen which was enjoyable to observe. Some expected hiccups with waiting times but was compensated with a complimentary coffee and sincere apology and was still out within an hour. Food most certainly worth the wait, vey tasty and colorful

A wonderful restaurant

We just had a fabulous meal at Mary’s. We chose the shared Banquet Menu. It was amazing! Great tastes and flavours and excellent portions. All courses were fantastic. The staff are very attentive and are very capable at multi tasking. We will definitely be back here on our next visit to Havelock North. Thank you all for a great evening. We wish we had visited on our last few visits to Havelock North!

Perfect

We had a wonderful meal and experience. A fabulous waitress who really impressed us with her energy and service. We had an entree, main and side to share and the food was mouthwatering. Will definitely be recommending to friends who visit the Hawkes Bay.

Divine food, brilliant service

Absolutely delicious food, beautifully presented. We called in to have an impromptu meal, an excellent choice. Service was impeccable as the staff went out of their way to accommodate us. Once again we were well looked after by Aries and I tried a new dish, on the menu for the first time, salmon tartare, divine a must for everyone to try. Thanks for fitting us in and giving us a wonderful meal.
