I wanted to support local businesses after the difficult shutdown that I know was hard on bars and restaurants. My friend and I chose this pub because it has one of the nicer patios in this area, with an awning and plants so that you can be in the shade rather than the hot sun. The food is nothing to write home about, but we were just looking forward to being on a patio again and having a cool drink. Given what businesses went through to re-open and the fact that wearing a mask is one of the easiest ways to reduce spread of the virus, I was very surprised to see only one staff member here, a hostess, wearing a mask. Our own server and other servers who went past us were not wearing masks. I had walked past several other patios on the way to this one, and had noted that all of the servers were wearing masks, so I assumed this would be the case everywhere. Apparently not. Yes, the server did her best to keep a distance from us, but why would any business not take this most basic step to assure customers? I work in retail, and our managers require the staff are to wear masks. Very puzzling. Our main dishes were ok, if not exciting. Was surprised that in the peak of summer they didn't have anything cold and refreshing for dessert, such as sorbet or gelato. So instead of getting something here, we went to an ice cream place up the street.

This place is really special. Very nice staff noticed that that I wasn't doing so well, and I let them know I just had a bad experience trying to be seated at another restaurant. They realized that I had some sight issues and showed me to my table, gave me a regular menu rather than just telling me to use a QR code, and made very good food and drink suggestions. Thank you!

I was staying at the Courtyard Marriott down the street and this place was recommended. I could not get my CC to be added for pick-up, but called to ask if I could place an order and pay when I got there. when I told them what I wanted, the hard cider was a few dollars less than the site, but they honored the price. Getting the fish & chips back, it was still warm. Very tasty with a good amount of tarter sauce.

The Hair of the Dog has a typical pub feel and a well stocked bar. I enjoyed a tap cider and my husband enjoyed two of the bourbons. We started with the chicken liver pate and toast, the split an order of the fish and chips for dinner. The fish was a little heavily battered & somewhat greasy, but tender on the inside. Plenty of delicious food ... we both left full.

Great local eats if living near the Village. This place has been around for a while now and the menus have evolved since it first opened. If you're looking for slightly glorified comfort food, this place has some pretty interesting twists like the butter chicken grilled cheese sandwich (not my cuppa—but if you're really into butter chicken this dish is for you) Nice patio during warmer season. My all-time favs are their nachos and sangria

Fantastic burger. Meaty flavour proves use of quality ground meat not too tightly packed into a very large patty. Good bun and super great fries. Also had the fried chicken sandwich which was deliciously crispy and great sauce. Will definitely order again and hopefully soon visit the patio. Well done guys.

Our first night in Toronto following a long day travelling from the UK. The Hair of the Dog looked local, comfortable and welcoming. We were sat at a table near the bar and given menus that were not overwhelming with choices. James the bar tender recommended a local IPA, and it certainly hit the spot. We ate generous portions of fish and chips which rate really high on my quality scale, and I'm British so I know!! Thank you James you provided us with good food, excellent beer, a comfortable atmosphere and a warm reception to our first night in Toronto.

We enjoyed our dinners (chicken sandwich and a burger, both with garden salads) very much. The food was fresh and nicely presented. There was a reasonable selection of draught beer, and lots of bottled options as well. The service was fast, friendly, and accurate. All in all, a good choice for a pub-grub dinner.

My “go-to” when staying at Courtyard. Not the largest menu, but good portion of nachos and the kid thinks best chicken liver pate she’s found in TO (so far). Sat on upstairs patio. Didn’t know it even existed…a BEAUTIFUL space so request it when you can!

I'm not one to complain about restaurants, but we called ahead to see if the restaurant could accomodate our two pups. They said yes and we headed over. At the entrance, we were told that our dogs were not welcome and that we could hold them with a leash through the fence on the street. Please be more specific to save any disappointment, we love your food and were excited to have a beer on the patio...

If you're looking for a unique restaurant, don't miss visiting Hair of the Dog. I had a group of 20 visiting, they were so easy to work with, took such excellent care of the group and the food was delicious, creative and very well priced. The restaurant has a lovely ambiance decorated with spoons, forks, knives and assorted photos of dog. The wait staff was excellent - courteous, efficient and so very friendly.

Where did Hair of the Dog go? Last night they had few customers. Portions were small. Gin drinks weak with very tired olives. Food scarce on the burger plate and inferior under-seasoned patty. Have gone there for years and did not recognize the food as anything like their normal fare. Have to ask, are there new owners or have they lost their purchaser or cooks? Sadly, the dog has gone missing. I don’t plan to return. A loss to the neighborhood.

We were in Toronto for three days and had identified several restaurants we wanted to try. We went here the first night because it was closest to our hotel, but we liked it so much we went there for dinner all three nights! Great patio space, good drinks, tasty food, friendly servers ... highly recommend.

This is a great place for lunch or dinner. We had dinner there recently and the food was delicious. It's warm and cozy inside and the decor is cute with pictures of dogs. Our waiter was excellent and the drinks were yummy. This is our second time here and we'll definitely be back whenever we're in Toronto.
