I ate here with friends for the last lunch of our trip to Banff and we were all so glad we did! It’s a small place and we had to put our name in and wait 20 minutes for seats, but they offered to text us when they had a spot so that we could shop while we waited. It was well worth the wait - the food choices were so creative and all wonderfully delicious! We sat at the bar and watched the bar tender make many beautiful and creative drinks for the patrons - I personally had the Razzmatazz which was delicious!
All of the food ordered and enjoyed by our group was amazing, including the carrot ginger soup, the Naan veggie burger, the fries (not your everyday fries), the curry bowl and the list goes on. The menu features creative Asian fusion options and the food comes nicely presented and deliciously flavourful. Highly recommended!

Good food and drink in a small hamlet of a space. Expect to hear your neighbor's conversation and they, your's. The tapas style food is good and some dishes are entree size. Cocktails were also good but bar was bogged with orders so they were slow in delivery.

After having a quick google search this place popped up, thought we would walk past and try our luck. Our hostess was so pleasant, great wine (got a nice bottle of Pinot ) small plates was enough to satisfy us hungry skiers! 2 only needed + great fries with truffle oil and olives.
Thought so much of the food brought a gift card for family that are doing a working holiday here, I know they will love it!!

We came as a large group and we knew it was a tiny place and would have to wait. The staff were so accomodating! The food and drinks were unreal. I cannot say enough good things i think i told every person i saw in banff the rest of the week that they had to go there. I will be back!
Also whoever the Chef was Monday Feb 24, the steak and the shrimp tapas (cannot remember the real names) were perfect. Not one bad thing about them. Everyone in our group loved the food. This place is a must!

We had a fabulous dinner here tonight. The food was fresh, unique, and so delicious. We had a combo of a cheeseboard, one main, and a couple of small plates and were stuffed! There are a few solid vegetarian options, and the server ensured everything that arrived at our table was vegetarian-safe which I really appreciated. The restaurant was full and there was a 45 minute wait when we walked by at 4:45 and put our names on the list, so I’d recommend going early. We had a bottle of wine, but we were envious of all the incredible cocktails coming out from the bar. Staff thoroughly cleaned all tables/chairs etc after each guest left and there were large plexiglass barriers between every table which made us feel COVID-safe. Overall, great food & service, and a really cozy/eclectic atmosphere which we loved.

We enjoyed an Asian-inspired tapas style meal on the patio. Thanks to the server for his great suggestions and advice on the number of dishes to order. The Tokyo fries were our absolute favourite! Each dish was served piping hot and was made with the freshest ingredients.

Amazing. I have no words. I was actually sad when the meal ended as it was amazing. Our entree was the TAKO Yaki (octopus and rice fried balls, much more delicious than it sounds) and I had the Curry Ramen and my boyfriend the duck poutine. The server couldn’t decide what to advise us to pick because he was convinced everything on the menu was delicious. I have no doubt he’s right.

If you are after something little different this is place to go.
The at atmosphere is fantastic quite funky and modern inside, the female bartender and server were great from start to finish, very knowable. I had the 6 course tasting menu with paired alcohol as i couldn't decide on menu, it was a hit and miss for food, i also had a main course from regular menu tuna ahi which was fantasic melt in your mouth tuna. I would love to go back and just taste the regular menu :).

We have had lunch here before but tonight was the first time we had dinner here and we were impressed.
The restaurant is very small but they do have an outdoor patio, which has a lot more seating. This is a very popular place and you might have to wait a bit. We only waited for about 10min and got seated.
We tried several of their cocktails and they were fantastic!! Very refreshing, esp after a day of hiking.
We shared a variety of small and large plates and all of them were really, really tasty. Prices seem to have gone up a bit but were still on par with other restaurants in Banff. We were happy to dine local and give them business after the pandemic lockdown.
Everything we tried were tasty - duck spring rolls, gyoza, shoestring fries, naan and 3 dips, Asian lettuce wrap, PEI mussels in red Thai curry, duck drummettes.
The menu is very inventive and always changing. I would highly recommend this place for lunch or dinner and you must try their cocktails.

The menu is varied and all choices we had were delicious. The kitchen unfortunately, doesn't know how to manage the flow of the orders. We had spicy apps, followed by subtle pork rillettes when our tongues were still burning. The cold noodle salad dish came at the end, just as the hot Thai curry arrived. This would be a tasting menu disaster. Small dining space and limited tables. Reasonable service.

We stopped recently for a late lunch/early dinner.
We (4 people) shared the calamari a (highly recommended) nd then mostly shared 4 or 5 small plates. The beef tataki, Tako Maki (Octopus) and gyoza were all execellent, as was the house kimchi... they were all of similar quality to what I have had in Japan and Korea.
We just had beer and no specialty cocktails, but the ones that were delivered to other tables looked good. Would have been nice to have an asian beer (ie Asahi or Sapporo eg) on tap.
There is a smallish deck outside and several tables inside (we sat inside) . It is small and intimate inside but comfortable. It definite has the vibe of a small japanese restaurant, which I liked.
If you are in Banff, its definitely worth a visit.

Block offers multiple small dishes (Japanese tapas-style), which are all delicious. I would recommend the tataki rolls, the chicken skewers, pork gyozas and any of their noodles/ramen were great. They do have a lot of daily specials worth a try. It is a small place, but definitely adapted for covid. They don't take reservations so you have to go, give your name and phone number to get call back when they have a table available. They do have some great cocktails and sake options too.
Well worth the wait, whether for lunch or dinner, although there might be less people during lunch!

We are not used to eating in our hotel room and feel the ambiance of the restaurant adds to the experience. Covid restrictions required us to order take out and were not disappointed. I we had the miso pork soup and duck drumsticks. So delicious. My daughter had the Udon soup and she said it was the best she ever had. This is saying something. The chicken yakisoba was 7 out of 10 and the yunagi bbq bowl was tasty with an 8 out of 10. I am gluten intolerant so I did have choices here.

We had this restaurant recommended to us by friends and we are so glad we took their advice.
We popped in on Saturday at 12pm and stayed a couple of hours enjoying the wine and little plates and just basking in the relaxing environment.
We enjoyed a bottle of sauvignon blanc, Maya. But also had a couple of glasses of house white , which was great too.
For food we shared dry ribs, chicken skewers and Hummous and NĂ an. The skewers were incredible. They are quite chunky with, what looks like a lot of batter, but its light and full of fresh flavors and was white lean chicken with such a different flavor. The dips that came with the naan were also really fresh, wonderful mouth watering tastes and went perfectly with white wine and soft warm naan bread.
Our server, male, was friendly and efficient and looked after everyone when all the tables were full.
I feel like they could have a restaurant triple the size and would still be full, it's fantastic.
We would have stayed longer but we wanted to free up the table so others could enjoy it!!

I chose this restaurant based on the online reviews and the fact it served gluten-free food. The service was amazing, the meals arrived quickly and the food was delicious. The Kara Age chicken skewers were so good; I had to order a second helping. The Stoplight Thai curry was terrific too. I was especially impressed that the staff are knowledgeable on food allergies, and substituted items that were safe for me to eat.
Block Kitchen and Bar turned out to be our favourite restaurant in Banff, and we tried many. We'll be back to eat here next time we're in town.
