Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We dropped in on our way to Arthur’s Pass. The hostess was very welcoming and before we knew it we had ordered lunch and coffee. The steak sandwich and burger was chosen both were excellent choices and the were delicious. It has great views and...the staff were outstanding even asked when we would like our coffee.More

Best mince and cheese pie in Nz*, promise. Lovely food and delightful, friendly service. They do a lot more than pies! * by NZ, I mean the world, of course.

Opened before other cafe in area and served nice coffee and food options. We also ordered an off menu without any problems.

Visited for breakfast - great if you're a meat eater but a bit limited if not. Kiwis seem to want to put bacon in everything? The soup of the day was tomato, basil and bacon and I've never seen that combination anywhere else! Prices are...pretty steep compared to other places we ate. We had the table in the big window which has great views out to the mountains. Food was tasty but probably wouldn't return.More

A cafe without much character and the food and tea was nothing special. The two cafes down the road looked more interesting.

Excellent cafe! We dropped in for lunch after hiking all morning, I had a yummy veggie soup and it was served with a toasted homemade cheese scone.. genius! My husband had the pulled pork burger and it was also very good. Every cafe in town...promotes “best coffee in town”, we didn’t go the the other cafes but I can’t fault the long blacks we had here. Very happy hikers!More

Stopped here because it boasts as having the best coffee in town and they lived up to that! We had the ‘wild west pancakes’ which were totally superb. This is a great spot to stop - very highly recommended.

There was a really good selection of breakfast offerings to choose from. We both had the omelettes and they were tasty and filling. They also came with a decent amount of toast! Coffees were also good. Quick service, and a lovely outlook to the mountains....Options available to sit in or outside. Would recommend as a good stop for a nice bite to eat !More

Very friendly staff with welcoming smiles. Pie and coffee were delicious, takeaway sandwiches were tasty on our hike. Plenty of seats, easy parking and beautiful views of the mountains. Would definitely stop there again.

Stopped in for coffee (flat whites) and bakery (cheese scone and caramel slice). Very pleasant service, a nice cup of coffee and decent homemade fare. The scone was a little bland (not enough cheese) but otherwise fine, the slice was tasty.

We stopped here with some friends on the way home after a day tramp in the Porters Pass area. The service was friendly, menu extensive and the coffee excellent! I highly recommend stopping here, we will certainly be stopping again.

Stopped here for lunch and would never go back. 2 of us had cheese and pineapple toasted sandwich for $5 each and it was 2 very thin slices of white couplands bread with very little filling and an absolute rip off. Once toasted there was...little left of it and it was totally tasteless. 2 of us had laminators and they were frozen in the middle and not real cream. Not a country feel.More

Stopped for a coffee, and ended up buying a sausage roll. They are simply the best. Home made - and you can certainly tell. Friendly owner. Good coffee as well, and reasonably priced.
