Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Stopped in just for a coffee, unfortunately I didn't take a sip before leaving Wairoa, got 10mins out, took a sip and it had salt instead of sugar. Honest mistake I'm sure. That's the only reason for the poor review. Other than that the staff...were lovelyMore

Stopped for a coffee - which was very good. Then brought some sandwiches & cake for on the road. Friendly staff. Large seating area.

We made an unplanned stop in Wairoa to look at the lighthouse, and then noticed almost everyone in town walking in and out of this bakery, so we had to sample their baking! An absolute gem, I will never eat a better pie again!

called in to pick up some lunch - visiting for first time from outside the province - heard it was good - so spoilt for choice! Staff were friendly - food was great - thanks Also - loved the setting of the shopping in Wairoa...- so pretty with river across the road, main road away from shopping street, wide pavement and verandahs - lovely vibeMore

My wife and I had a breakfast at the Oslers. I had a full breakfast and my wife had the scrambled eggs with toast. The food was great and at a excellent price. It was a substantial amount and we were extremely happy so much...so we went back the next day. The English breakfast tea and hot chocolate again were excellent. We thoroughly recommend to anyone one who wants real kiwi food at a good price.More

18th Feb we stopped at wairoa for lunch. We got pies and a piece of Carrot cake. We wanted coffee but we're told the coffee area was closed, I then asked for a thick shake but they did not make these either. carrot cake tasted...discusting. pies were nice. Won't be back ever.More

Wasn’t open New Year’s Day. Given all the adds I’ve seen indicated open 7 days and public holidays was surprised to find was closed on New Year’s Day. I was looking forward to trying one of their pies. The Mahia Beach store has some of...their pies/sausage rolls in warmer so managed to have one of the Oslers sausage rolls a couple of days later. It was very nice.More

Gross. Ill kept and not up to date at all. Used to be an attraction for Wairoa. Don’t come here. Staff had no idea what was in the pies or tarts or cakes. That’s ok..we all forget, as a hospitality worker I understand that. but...what shocked me is that the lady working made no effort to go and ask for my mum. Just stood there looking dumbfounded by the question. Are you trying to sell food or not??More

Word of mouth brought us here but sadly we were disappointed with the quality of savouries that we purchased on our visit. Our pastry was that stiff and solid you could build a brick house with it other than that the fillings were tasty and...the staff were friendly.More

Stopped for a tea and cake for morning tea. One of our party was tempted by the pork ribs and had a couple - verdict tasty but a bit dry (presumably due to sitting in the warmer - he still enjoyed them though). We had...tea and a slice - tea was good and was two cups in each pot. My wife prefers green tea and was pleased to see they provided plain green tea (too many places have green tea adulterated by additions like lemon or mint etc). The place has been around for a long time (I used to get my lunches there when I was relieving at one of the Banks about thirty years ago and it had been going forever even then). I still remember the ostrich pies back then! Overall we'd return when back in Wairoa. RecommendedMore

Good for morning tea. There was a good range of food available and plenty of seating available when we visited. Only thing that was disappointing was they forgot my coffee. Admittedly they hadn’t charged me for it but they did remember me ordering it. I...did then pay for it and got it eventually.More

Read many quite negative reviews about this bakery but today we could not fault it. The ladies behind the counter were young and most helpful and pleasant. The selection of food was unreal and the range of slices, tarts etc was enough to make you...put on weight just looking at them. We are not really pie eaters but we did try a steak and mushroom pie each and they were full of pieces of steak, not fatty and most tasty. We think Wairoa has perhaps had bad reviews but we found during our short stopover that the locals were friendly, approachable and we were glad to have had a stop there.More
