Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A stop off en route to Napier. We drove the length of the street and their quirky exterior caught my eye. Nice place to while away an hour, good food and great music

Visiting Wairoa for a night and arrived in afternoon - went for lunch. Normally go elsewhere but were recommended to go to Eastend instead. Worth it. Good service, nice food, decent cuppa, and plenty of nice cool water (it was a very hot day!). Went...back for breakfast the next morning - again service was good and the food was very acceptable (eggs slightly over - I prefer runny yolks). Definitely will be back next visit to WairoaMore

After the devastation caused by the cyclone it was a relief to find this café still open for business. Delicious breakfast and coffee. Lovel staff.

I usually stop here monthly while driving through for lunch. On Wednesday 23 June, ordered a toastie, a slice and a soy latte. Got the slice and soy latte, 20 mins later, one of the staff had to remind another that I was still waiting...for toastie. The maker hadnt seen the order stuck to the wall. She took her time starting the toastie and put onion on the cheese. I said, if thats my toastie, I didnt order onion. She checked the order and said yes you did. She removed the onion and put pineapple on. Cooked it very quickly then apologised. So I had a cold, partly cooked toastie that tasted of onion, which I dont like. A cold latte as it had sat in the car for 20 plus minutes and a slice that had a scraping of fruit on it. No apology or compensation from the cafe at all. Think I will look for a new cafe for lunch on this monthly trip.More

Very popular and busy cafe. When we visited it was full of locals and out of towners. Delicious coffee and delicious food. Great, friendly service.

This place is an absolute delight, friendly helpful staff, lovely homemade food, proper good coffee made with passion and a delightful friendly atmosphere with awesome el fresco dining. Don’t go there if you are in a hurry - that’s not the Wairoa vibe, but if...you value a nice laid back outing in a groovy location - this is it!More

Loved this cafe! Great location - we were sitting outside on a very hot spring day. And equally great food and friendly staff. A bonus were the jars of locally produced honey and the bottles of pure lime and lemon juice the cafe was selling....Yummy!!!More

Obviously a popular local hangout. Great homely food, lovely coffee. Nice, quirky, homely setting. Very friendly. I had the whitebait fritter which i enjoyed. I couldn't really taste the whitebait (but can you??) - it was yummy though! This cafe was recommended to us a...stop for lunch and we weren't disappointed.More

Great place for brekkie, coffee or lunch. Visited twice on my way up and down to Gisborne. Popular with locals. Great service and coffee. Eggs bene simple but solid portion and tasty. Situated on the parade overlooking the Wairoa River. Worth a stop in Wairos...to visit the lighthouse, river walk and peninsula.More

Lovely lovely lovely. This cafe is a wee treasure in the township of Wairoa, and is deservedly popular with the locals. Located in a character building, there are a few tables on the pavement outside but otherwise it’s all indoor eating. Good coffee (Havana) and...teatotal teas, great cabinet food options plus a blackboard menu (a range of brunch options available 8am - 2pm). Newspapers to read and a few gift items to purchase - Keep cups, local honeys and citrus juices. The addition of the lemon curd to the pancakes was a nice touch. As for the toast with spreads, the homemade spreads were amazing: an apple and ginger compote and a crab apple jelly. Efficient, pleasant service, clean toilet and free car parking outside or very nearby - what’s not to like?More

My husband and I came here for a flat white today. We wanted to sit down and have lunch and have our coffee served in a takeaway cup as the coffee does not cool down as fast as it does in a ceramic cup. The...woman who served me refused to serve our coffee in a takeaway cup. I even offered to pay for the cup! Not overly friendly either. Won’t be back.More
