Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

One of few coffee places, the baking was delicious. Coffee was so, so but a welcome place to stop in.

This little eatery is in with the gas station in Port Clements. It is where the locals gather to eat too.
The menu is simple and offers things I remember from childhood like a BLT and potato salad. The food was tasty and the coffee was good.
I think what I loved about Angela's Place was firstly Angela who is friendly. It is a place that also made me think of how life is simple when you live in a place that is harder to get to. It means letting the simple and basic things of life be valued and respected.
I think this little place has heart and that came through in the short visit and the BLT that tasted so good.

This is a tiny village. The choice was a van serving food outside of town, or Angela's Place. We decided on the latter, and we were not disappointed. First, the owner, Angela, is a charming, friendly person. Secondly, the menu is limited, but hits the right spots. I enjoyed my beef soup and chicken burger, and my wife enjoyed her burger with macaroni salad on the side. We shared a generous slice of Angela's famous carrot cake. Coffee is self-serve. You can even pick up a used paperback at the bookshelves in the corner.

When I wrote my last review of Angela’s, I remarked upon the “cozy” space and “great” carrot cake. What’s more, I concluded by saying if you were in need of a quick bite while in Port Clements, Angela’s was “probably your best bet” because, while the menu was simple, the comfort food on offer generally hit all the right notes. Well, what a difference a few years makes! Angela’s, it seems, has declined quite significantly since my last review.
THE MENU: Once upon a time, Angela’s featured a decent menu for such a small establishment. You could order BLTs, Clubhouse sandwiches, basic burgers, chicken burgers, soups, and breakfast. Now, as of this writing, the menu is limited to a few soups and sandwiches only – and those sandwiches are pre-packaged and sit in a cooler.
SERVICE: Far from being friendly this time, I found the service borderline rude and very transactional. When I ordered my chicken corn chowder, not a word was uttered. Even a fake smile would go a long way here.
FOOD: As noted, the sandwiches are pre-packaged and of the same type you’d find in Chevron or any gas bar. Thus, I won’t rate them; however, I can comment upon the soup. In short, it was probably the biggest faux pas. When it was handed to me, I noticed that the Styrofoam container wasn’t even warm. When I tried some a few minutes later, I couldn’t help but laugh. The chicken corn chowder was ICE COLD. Yum. So much for warming comfort foods.
If it’s any consolation, the carrot cake remains decent.
FOOD: 2/5
SERVICE: 2/5
VALUE: 2/5
RECOMMENDATION: When I wrote my initial review, options were indeed limited in Port Clements; however, that is no longer the case (thank goodness). Now, if you want a quick bite, I’d recommend the Buck Snort Café or Fork in Port. The Bayview Market also sells some delicious pastries and other snack items. In short, I just can’t recommend Angela’s. Why settle for gas station food when there are better options nearby?

This was the only place open for food in Port Clements. Was told once we had sat down and looked at the menus (which were on the table) that they had run out of food since the day before. The staff were friendly. The pastries available were stale but the coffee was good.

If your old enough to remember diners in the 1950's you will feel right at home here. If you're not that old, this is what you missed. Read the walls while waiting for your food. Lots of pithy advice and humorous sayings.
The food is simple and hearty but tastes great. Everything is cooked fresh. The split pea and ham soup was just like Mother used to make (actually better than any MY mother ever made ;). We thoroughly enjoyed this little spot with the local flavor.
Good place to stop about half way from Skidegate to Masset. Also has a gas station if you need to fill your car as well as your tummy.

Angela's Place, located in the community of Port Clements, is attached to the town gas bar. The space is fairly small (some would say "cozy"), and is clearly a hangout for the locals. Maybe it's because of the small space, but when I visited I kind of felt out of place -- like an outsider. Granted, most who visit small communities tend to feel a little out of place because everybody tends to know everybody, but it just seemed more pronounced here. When I dined at the Yakoun River Inn I didn't feel nearly as awkward. . . but then, the space is larger, so maybe it's a spatial thing.
Anyway, that said, the service was friendly and the food was fine -- typical fare, nothing to write home about. A clubhouse is a clubhouse, after all; however, I will give them this: the carrot cake was great! It was fluffy and not too sweet (often a fine balance when dealing with this type of cake). Would I return? Probably not, but that's not a knock on the place by any means.
FOOD: 2.5/5
SERVICE: 3/5
VALUE: 2.75/5
RECOMMENDATION: If you're looking for a quick bite to eat in Port Clements before continuing on with an adventure, this place is probably your best bet. . .not that you have much in the way of options in Port ;)

We got off the Ferry very early in the morning 5:30am nowhere was open couldn't go to our hotel till 3 so we drove round and found Angela's place around 9am wish we'd gone sooner we were met with smiles and a very good hot breakfast as I'm a fuss pot and carry my own tea bags was allowed to make my own tea and use their cups milk and sugar we left Angela's much better off with knowledge of the surrounding area and the Golden Spruce would return happily recommend to anyone visiting the area

I don't know what they did as bacon and eggs are super common - but the bacon was sensational, the eggs cooked to perfection, the toast with fresh bread, the hospitality top notch! YUM
