Wait…are we in Tulum?? We had to do a double take when we walked into the most recent brainchild of Juan Pablo Loza - a sexy new bar/restaurant called Zapote at the Rosewood Mayakoba. Between the guest DJ spinning amazing music, celebrity bartenders crafting unique cocktails, all while eating amazing mezze style plates preserving the Yucatan heritage with Mediterranean flavors…we truly felt transported. All of the restaurants on the property are amazing and adding this gem just sealed the deal for us and solidified why The Rosewood Mayakoba is our favorite destination. Bar none.

Finding Zapote was like finding a treasure!

My husband and I stayed at Rosewood Mayakoba for our anniversary recently. We made a reservation through our butler so we really didn’t know what to expect. Man, were we in for a pleasant surprise! We had no idea that this place had been recently transformed in to this Mediterranean, super fun, wildly delicious place to spend our first evening. We started with an amazing bottle of wine. Their wine selection was crazy! Wines from all over the world in every price range! There’s something for everyone. We ordered the Zapote Sampler with the Guacahini, the Hummus de La Casa and the Tzatziki with naan. All were flavorful and delicious. Plenty to share. Then we ordered the beef carpaccio; so tender and delectable. Finally the bison steak with whipped potatoes. Loaded with flavor and comfort! They had a live band playing that evening that was super cool and as the night went along they really had us coming to life. By 9:30 we had a real party going! Lots of people dancing and cutting loose. Fun time to relax and enjoy the show. If you want to be in the middle of the action, sit near the band, if you’re more of a spectator just ask for a table a little further back. Either way, you will have fun, relax and enjoy good food, good wines and fabulous service at Zapote! It was so popular we saw people from many of the other nearby hotels that had heard about the good things going on at Zapote. Snag a reservation now!

Great atmosphere, food and drinks

Zapote Bar has it all. Live entertainment, great food, drinks and wine selection. We sat outside on a beautiful evening. My wife and I had the hummus and Zapote sampler with naan to start which were flavorful had a nice combination of local flavors along with traditional presentations. The special was buffalo steak prepared perfectly and seasoned just right. I love my red wines, but always need help with wines from Mexico. Alexandro Bru is the Somm and presented a full bodied red wine created by a local winemaker and unique to Zapote. It was delicious and he did a wonderful job picking the perfect paring. I highly recommend trying Zapote for the food, atmosphere and entertainment.

Beautiful new addition to Rosewood Mayakoba

Zapote is a beautiful new addition to Rosewood Mayakoba. We were so fortunate to have this place on property when stayed at the hotel, but if you’re in the area, do not hesitate to make the journey over and try it. You will not be disappointed! The atmosphere and design of the space are both stunning! Cocktails are a show stopper and taste delicious too! The mixologists entertain while making the amazing drinks. I won’t give it away...please go and see for yourself. The food is delicious, fresh and beautiful. Last but not least, the service is excellent and friendly. The perfect place to relax over food and drinks while visiting this little slice of paradise.

Delicious Food & Fun Vibe

I could eat here every night I just love this place so much. The dishes are inventive and so delicious. Every single thing on the menu is perfection. Michael Jordan (the goat) dined at a table next to ours during our most recent visit and claimed a certain dish was in his top 2 favorite meals ever. I dream about this food and the yummy cocktails. The place comes alive in the evenings with live music and guest bartenders creating a vibe unlike anywhere else in the Riviera Maya. Hats off to Juan Pablo Loza, the creative genius behind it all.

Fun Vibes and Great Food!

This was my 14th time at RW Mayakoba and the Zapote bar made my favorite hotel even better!! The vibes were fun, the food was great, and the staff was very accommodating. My boyfriend has allergies and they were extra careful and diligent to ensure there was no cross contamination. I would highly recommend eating here and trying their awesome drinks, dips, and cauliflower!

We absolutely loved spending the afternoon at Zapote Bar. Edward and all the staff treated us like family, told stories about all the drinks, and we ate the most amazing food. We had the eggplant spread and it was delicious, highly recommend if you like eggplant. We had multiple drinks, and they were all fantastic, well balanced, and served perfectly. If you are anywhere near Myakoba, this bar is worth an expedition!!

Best meal and Ambiance in Mayakoba

Zapote is one of the most fun nights we’ve had anywhere in the world. The band on Saturday is not to be missed. The chicken with black garlic is my absolute favorite chicken dish ever. The cocktails were great and the service was “fabuloso”. Worth a visit even if you are not staying at one of the hotels.

Incredible experience!

Zapote Bar was the highlight of our recent trip. The food and drinks are stunning - innovative, unique, out of this world delicious. The decor and overall vibe are amazing and the people who work there are so lovely. Nights when there were guest bartenders and music were beyond...we had some of the best nights of all time in that bar and we can't wait to go back. Thank you team Zapote, we adore you!

Cool atmosphere, Unbelievable cocktails

I was at Rosewood around Christmas time and went to Zapote for drinks every night! Drinks are to die for, the vibrations are magnificent, and Juan Pablo who runs the show is simply a legend. “The best bars are bars you go to die. Not somewhere you grab a quick drink, but somewhere you go to forget the time and stay all night.” That’s the goal for Zapote and I certainly couldn’t leave until I tried at least 3 of their amazing cocktails every night. I’ve been trying to recreate their mezcal stock at home but it doesn’t hit the same the way it does at Zapote!

Had the best dinner and cocktails at Zapote. Mixed with live music and friendly wait staff you won’t be disappointed. We came back a second night for a cocktail and were greeted by name from our amazing server Carlos. Definitely recommend checking out, great for couples!

Fun place with terrific staff. Good energy, fun to watch the bartenders make some cool looking drinks. Only negative is the size (tiny) of the drinks relative to their cost. it also gets very crowded so would recommend reservations.
