This was our first year eating at the Gong. First evening was very good but was very slow service. Our second evening not so good. Two dinners were served and at least 25 minutes the second two dinners were served for our party of four. Not acceptable service. Food is very tasty but waiters weren't very attentive.

Always happy to reserve a table at this Asian/Fusion restaurant each and every trip to the Vidanta Resort at Mayan Riviera. We are always pleasantly surprised at the menu selections as it changes regularly but still retain the favourites and most popular items we’ve come to love. The choices provide something for everyone...vegetarian, vegan and full menu for traditional Asian Foodies. Sufficient items for the small plate approach or hungry guest to enjoy. Wine selection is varied to meet the needs of the guest menu choices.
The servers have always been pleasant , helpful on all visits over the past 10 years. The grouper curry is my husband’s all time favourite as mine being the seaweed salad, tempura shrimp appetiser and lobster rolls.
We will definitely be returning to Gong on our visit next year!

The black cod lettuce wraps and seaweed salad for staters were excellent. The special lobster fresh rolls were well prepared also. The stir fry noodles with pork was a tantalizing dish. The sashimi platter was your usual sushi but probably not worth the price. Our waiter was very fun and attentive while providing excellent service. Very nice atmosphere but pricey.

While this restaurant is an asian themed restaurant, and us dining there as an asian presenting family, my father politely, in Spanish, asked how to say chopsticks in Spanish. The waiter then made direct eye contact with my Asian mom, and towards her, pulled back his eyes with his hands and started mumbling things like “Ching Chong” towards her. We were all in absolute shock. While the food was delicious, the disgust and utter embarrassment we felt completely ruined the entire experience. I would never recommend going to this place solely due to that waiter. As a restaurant, specializing in Asian food, to have experienced this intense racism directed towards Asians was an utter disgrace and I am appalled by this hotel. If you like racism, come to this restaurant. Never again will we be eating here and I strongly recommend if you are Asian that you do not as well.

The room itself was lovely with high ceilings, big windows opening towards the water, and a layout that included many places to sit on various levels, without feeling crowded. The food was very good; sushi, a catch of the day, tempura, and more. A man named Angel was our waiter, and he was fun, helpful, and always showed up at the right moment for a question or refill. I recommend it!

Great high level Asian-Excellent Chilean Sea Bass with garlic confit and coconut rice. Stir fry asparagus and combination stir fried rice (side dishes) but great along with the dragon roll sushi, at the Wine Bar for appetizers were both excellent. Lots of choices, including whole Peking Duck, carved and served table side.Enjoy!

My husband and I were able to enjoy an evening out dining at Gong, after the rest of our group returned home. Everything was point on; the greeter with her Kimono, waiters, chefs, kitchen staff, etc. We ordered the shrimp tempura, mixed rice, filet, and mixed veggies. The shrimp tempura was so delicious and so were the onion rings that were included. I took a moment to walk around and take photos. All the guests were enjoying their dining experiences, especially sushi lovers. A special thank you to- Chef Walberto. Jaime, Jenner, Chef Antonio, Chef Ester, and Chef Frederico. You all know how to prepare delicious food.

We love this restaurant and have been several times but it can be quite expensive due to the portion size. If you order the dim sum or sushi the portion sizes are extremely small and an average adult (never mind a teenager) will need to order 2-3 items to get a full meal. The service and the atmosphere are amazing though

Meal was great, not too hungry, so we ordered appetizers. They were delicious. Aaron was very attentive, checked on us often and always had a smile on his face.
Such great service from Aaron and his crew! We ate at Gong Teppanyaki a few days ago, and we had Arron and his crew again! Arron made all the guest comfortable, made sure we were satisfied with our food, always asked if he could do more or get us something else! Really nice to be treated so special! Aaron deserves 10 STARS!

Excellent dinner! Some of our guests tried the sushi, my wife had pork with rice noodles (gluten-free) and I had the sukiyaki. The sushi was fresh with perfect texture. The sukiyaki was the best I have had outside of Japan. My wife was very impressed with her gluten free pork dish. Each of three couples tried different wines. The wine steward was knowledgeable and attentive. Service was non-hurried and quite good. Overall, we had a very enjoyable evening on a beautiful venue overlooking the resort swimming pools.

We ordered avocado sushi at Salum which is the outdoor food court area between the pools, where 4 restaurants serve their lighter fare. It tasted like they put a little scoop of guacamole on top. I love guacamole, and I love sushi, but the two do not taste good together. I can't speak for other dishes since we are vegan and that was all we saw that was vegan. Disappointing.

Gong is an excellent dining experience at the resort! It is even better when you have the team of Erick, Jose, Angel, and Angela taking care of you! We had the Peking Duck carved and served table side and it was mouth-watering. The service is spot on and everyone is so friendly and helpful! We went another night as well for the food and the service. It's a special treat!!

Last year, I ate quite a few of my dinners at the Gong Restaurant. I am happy to say that the food is just as good this year as last summer. Chef Gualberto is as skilled as ever, and he was able to make a delicious dish with grouper and vegetables that met my dietary needs. He had remembered me from last summer, and he understood what he needed to prepare so that I didn't have any adverse reactions to the food. Everything was so tasty and beautifully prepared.

So many dishes to choose from, I tend to go for Dim Sum, Singapore noodles with Shrimp and vegetables and Fried Rice with Pork and Chicken. So many more dishes. The Wok Asparagus is great, also the Vegetable Tempura. Desserts are yummy.

This Asian fusion restaurant offers something for everybody. The Petit filet is outstanding and melts in the mouth. My favorite dish, but I also like Dim Sum, Fried Rice and so many of the dishes. Servers are attentive, polite and treat all guests with friendliness and professionalism. Main server this time was Jaime and his assistant, and we enjoyed being papmpered. Visited this restaurant 3 times during our 2 week stay.
