Great spot to relax

We have visited loony beans at the Cerritos location each time we visit Mazatlan. Coffee is very good, the food for the most part is quite good this year our sandwiches were more average. We like to walk the shops and the beach and looney beans is a great place to stop and relax after. It is generally quite busy especially earlier in the day but we don’t mind

A Great Place for Coffee and Food at the End of the Street

The breakfast portions were substantial, healthy and delicious. I had the huevos rancheros, a huge bowl of oatmeal and a mocha frappe. My wife had the bacon, lettuce, avocado and tomato sandwich, as well as a frappes. The service was friendly, helpful and good natured. It appeared too, that the staff was bilingual - Spanish and English. If you are at the beaches north of Mazatlan (Cerritos) this is a great place to eat breakfast or lunch and enjoy a walk on the beach. I look forward to eating at the Looney Bean Cerritos again!

Best coffee and healthiest fare we found

You don't go to Mexico for health food, but that doesn't mean you cant eat carefully. Looney Bean has you covered. Delicious breakfasts that range from Mexican fare to yoghurt parfait to oatmeal (add your milk on the side to avoid gruel.) im always hoping for gluten free and they definitely do that well. But the whole menu is a welcome sight after a night of too much tequila or a long sleep or both. Great staff. Great location.

Gone downhill

Used to really enjoy breakfast here but not lately. Last time there were very few people seated so we thought it would be quick. Not. Our order for breakfast and coffee was taken and the girl disappeared. My husbands eggs came but not my waffle. We had no utensils and there was no one around to ask. Finally my waffle came but was too cold to melt the butter. They returned with a hot waffle but no butter or syrup. We asked for our coffee and utensils. Got utensils and eventually we asked another girl for our coffee it came but the cream and sugar were too late, it was cold. Overall a terrible experience. Tried again last week when it was also slow time, super slow service. One order at our table was forgotten, another got only their bacon. There were two staff members sitting close by rolling utensils ignoring the whole group. Not sure what’s happened their but we won’t be back

Extremely poor service!

We were a group of five and placed our order at the same time. My wife an I live in Mazatlan 6 months of the year and had our son and daughter in law with one of their friends with us. We received our order (My wife and I) in a reasonable amount of time as it was not busy. Within 5 minutes we started to eat as ours was getting cold. I asked our server if the other meals were coming and he said yes. We waited and my wife and I were finished our meal and he was picking up our plates as we were done. Once again I asked where the other meals were and told they are coming. Waited another 5 minutes and went toward the kitchen area and I saw two meals being delivered so I went back to the table, They brought 2 of the 3 meals and waited another 5 minutes and was then offered a discount. We said we don't want a discount just the food we ordered. After the other two were done their meals they finally brought the other one so we could all watch her eat alone. Stuff happens but not caring and not trying to make it right or even pretend to care is not acceptable and Looney Bean you won't be seeing us or our family again!

Good coffee so so service

Not cheap. Food was good and great coffee. Waitress was not nice, kept ignoring our table, my friend thinks because she asked us to move from where we were waiting for a table caused her to be irritated with us. If she wasn't rude and for lack of service our experience would have fantastic.

Great place for friends to gather

We enjoy going to Looney Beans every time we are in Mazatlan. We heard that new owners had taken over the Cerritos location so was anxious to see if the great atmosphere had changed. It has not. Great place for breakfast lunch, coffee, especially their ground coffee to go. All is good at Looney Beans.

Great coffees

Had a Frappe and a Vanilla Latte. Was so good and great service. We also had the California breakfast bagel which was so big you could share it. Comes with scrambled egg, tomatoes and the freshest avocados. 10 Minute walk from RIU Emerald bay.

Disappointing

Food and coffee is excellent, but the service declines significantly after the morning rush, it seems. Several wait staff standing around and my husband had to get someone to take our order, despite us trying to politely get someone’s attention after waiting more than 10 mins. They seem to avert their eyes. Asked for water twice and finally was brought a cup of lukewarm water. Loved this place last year…..won’t be rushing back…..here for six months of the year. There are other places close by to go to like La Antigua….great service and food.

Great place for breakfast!

We ate at the Looney Bean Coffee Shop for breakfast when we were recently in Mazatlan. What great food! We had bagels (the BEST I've ever eaten) and egg and bacon on a croissant (delicious!). The service was a bit slow because the place was full but it was well worth the wait. How can you complain about the wait when you have so many things to look at while you're waiting? This was another shop with one wall open to the air. I love that about Mexico.

Late morning

Not great anymore. Wait staff very slow, not friendly, you habe to chase them down, and they were not busy. Food was cold and lacked taste. This place used to be great. But now, not even ok. I hate to see it because it has been one of my top 3 in Mazatlán for many years.

Great breakfast

We have been here many times over the past few years. The breakfasts are wonderful. Always consistently prepared and delicious. The coffee roasted on site is very good and there is a wide variety of drinks available. The service is always great and friendly. In the high season you may see line ups to get in attesting to its popularity.

Comfort Food - Comfort Ambience

Clearly this place must be doing a lot right, as they are almost always crowded. And it is just fine - if you are a gringo pretending to be in Mexico. Our paninis tasted okay, but they were not paninis, but sandwiches on rolls. No more home-fried potatoes. Why not, did they get too expensive or too long to cook? Friendly service in English, no Spanish is required. Decent smoothies and cakes. Basically if you are homesick, want to be protected and do not care for spice, this is the place for you.

Service seems to have slipped

We walked down the lovely Cerritos Beach to Loony Beans coffee shop at Punta Cerritos. It was a little before noon and the place was pretty full. We left our name with the hostess and took a seat near the hostess stand. A couple of other parties came after us, but were seated before us. Finally seated, it was about 15 minutes until we had our orders taken. Then after 15 more minutes, our waitress came with the wrong order for one of us and no order for the other. The coffee and the drink we got were good, but it took an act of congress (you know how long that takes) to get our drinks and our bill, and then had to go to the counter to get our change after another long wait. It seemed like the environment was chaotic compared to what it has been other time when we have been here. We've been in Mexico a number of times and this was not just 'a Mexican minute', it was disappointing.

Great food and affordable

Came with 6 adults and 2 babies…service was quick and food was delicious. Paid about $60 UsD total for a complete breakfast for all of us! Very hipster vibes, lots of options. Only downfall was crazy amount of bees!!
