Based on recommendations, we visited the Genusswerkstatt Lodner for dinner. The name alone shows the quality of the restaurant. For a fair €69 you get a mostly delicious menu with a house special, an intermeal and chocolates. The main course had a few minor weaknesses, with too much acidity. The poor service, however, did not match the quality of the food. There are a lot of things that could be improved here with little effort. It's a shame that we were the only guests.

We had a very authentic German dinner here with local beer. Lovely, cozy dining room with warm lighting. We had a table near the windows. Great way to spend our first evening in Lauingen.

Now we have been to Lodner for the second time and were disappointed again. A 4-course meal costs €99, so you have to build up certain expectations. There was only one other table occupied on Saturday evening. The evening menu was misleading with regard to the meat course and was not explained properly when asked. The service was in training and the wine pairing could not be explained. But the decisive factor for the rating was the poor price-performance ratio. Simple dishes prepared well are not enough for this price. How the Michelin recommendation came about is a mystery to us.
