This small roadside restaurant along a curve about a five minute drive from the roundabout between L'anse Aux Epines and Grand Anse gave us the best dining experience during a week in Grenada. We showed up unannounced on a Saturday afternoon for lunch. Boots was...genuinely happy to serve us! We were the only guests that afternoon. There isn't a menu with dishes and prices, per se; rather, you'll choose from a list of a few dishes on a board or whatever he has back in the kitchen. We ordered stewed chicken, fish, and provisions, with a cold beer and fresh fruit juice. He even brought out a sample of his famous lambie curry! Do note that this is a small, independent family operation and it's wise to call ahead to verify hours. In fact, if you know you want to eat with Boots (which you should), call him to set a time for lunch or dinner so he can shop for ingredients. This is a great idea for two independent travelers like us with a rental car, but also for a group of cruise visitors who want to sample local food and interact with local business owners during their short time in Grenada. Parking is available in front on the road. It takes some pluckiness to find it (you might need to turn around and come back!), but it's actually easier than you might think.More

Excellent traditional Caribbean cuisine with a special twist. Very friendly restaurant run by Ruby and Boots. Need to book by 5pm for supper the same night as they shop for fresh ingredients. Best callalloo soup on the island and great homemade bread. Best lambie we’ve...had on the island so far too.More

This is a husband and wife team that run Boots (Boots is the actual chef and Ruby is the taxi driver, if required, and also front of house/server). The restaurant is the garden room adjoined to the front of their own home with a few...tables, which is very nicely done. Good ambience. We went on a Monday evening and were the only ones there. Open whenever required for lunch and dinner, but must ring to make a reservation as they do close on certain special days. Ruby picked myself and my husband up from Coyaba Beach Resort for 50EC (round trip). Food was a set menu for 95EC each, with a choice for the main course. My husband has food intolerances so mentioned these when making the reservation a few days before and Boots was able to serve my husband other options, which was excellent both in service and with the taste of the food. It was a 5 course menu, all small portions though, but at the end of the meal was full and satisfied. 1 Pumpkin Soup 2 Sea Egg (Sea Urchin) 3 TLC (Tomatoes, lettuce, cucumber) 4 Lambie with local veg (this was my choice of the main course) 5 Cake and ice cream I also had 2 glasses of Ruby's rum punch which was delicious and strong. As we were the only ones there, it did feel a little rushed as soon as we had finished eating, the plates were cleared away and the next course was there, but even so, that didn't spoil the evening at all. Then when we were ready, Ruby took us back to our hotel after Boots came and had a quick chat with us. Thorougly enjoyed the evening, quite expensive, but worth it for a very different and enjoyable experience eating local food and enjoying local hospitality.More

If you just want a really easygoing dinner served by some very sweet locals (and aren't expecting fine dining) this is a must. We had the prix fixe dinner, 95 EC per person, and sprung for the pickup/drop-off for only an extra 50 EC—totally worth...it. We had a nice chat with Ruby during the short ride from True Blue. The restaurant's ambiance is very homey, and we were the only diners there on a Monday night. Chef Boots welcomed us and let us pick our main, and Ruby came to take our drink orders. As other reviewers mention, the rum punch really is one of the most (if not the most) delicious you'll ever have in your life—order it, but be careful because it's stronger than it tastes! The food came at a great pace compared to a lot of other Grenadian restaurants. We started off with a nice pumpkin soup which was good but nothing spectacular. Next was sea egg (sea urchin) on a crispy bed of fried sea moss which was excellent if a little salty. Then a small salad which was more of a palate cleanser than anything. For our entree, we all chose the fried lambie steak (conch), which came with an assortment of local veggies like breadfruit, cassava, callaloo, etc. It was excellent, and while lambie is a Grenadian staple this one was special. We finished off with some fruit cake, vanilla ice cream, and banana, which were decent. After our main, Chef Boots came outside to chat with us and ask about the meal. He takes great pride in cooking with local ingredients and said his favorite thing to cook is lambie. His secret lambie recipe, which he was reticent to divulge too much about, took fifteen years to perfect! If you come with the right expectations you'll have a wonderful dinner. Highly recommended.More

This is a very simple, local roadside restaurant and it could use a good clearing up. But the people are nice and friendly and the food is surprisingly good. They offer various caribbean dishes for lunch for a very reasonable price.

This was an experience! You eat in a small room with five tables in the owners home. There is nothing fancy here so if you are looking for a refined experience then this is not for you. You are brought a soup, an appetizer ,...and a salad. You have the choice of three entrees. All are local cuisine. Everything on the menu was excellent, including all the vegetables. I would highly recommend this place if you want something a little different.More

Look, do yourself a big favor and go to Boots. Ms. Ruby will pick you up and deliver you back home. This is a very good thing as her rum punches are the best on island. After a couple of them, you shouldn't drive. After...eating a wonderful meal prepared as you like it by Mr. Boots, you are unable to move very well. Again, a good reason to avail on Ms. Ruby's wizardry behind the wheel. Yes, this is a pricey meal, but the value is really there. Treat yourself and eat some of the best Grenadian food on the island.More

First, let me say that I feel terrible that we have visited Boots so many times and this is my first review. My husband and I are in Grenada 2-3 times a year and Boots is on the top of our list for "must have"...food while on island. It's like visiting family. They are inviting you to dine on the verandah of their home for a traditional Grenadian meal. Boots is the chef and Ruby is the waitstaff/ bartender/ hostess (and one of the sweetest people you will ever meet). The menu is limited but with advance notice, they will honor requests if available. Every meal we have had was fantastic, true home-cooked, traditional Grenadian food. The menu is pre-fixe, so several fixed courses and then usually 4 options of entrees which then are served with traditional Grenadian sides or provisions (and of course, dessert!). We have enjoyed such a variety of foods that I'm not sure where to start- Lambi, lobster (and I'm not a Caribbean lobster fan but Boots was fantastic!), tuna, pork, chicken, and callaloo (that is to die for!) Alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages are available additionally. We were there one evening that I was feeling a bit under the weather and Ruby made me a fantastic ginger drink that really hit the spot. Other than that occasion we usually head right for the rum punch. Call ahead for reservations with enough time for meal preparation and if you need transportation from your hotel, they will be glad to for a very reasonable fare (less than standard cab fares). Also please be advised that Boots is cash only so go prepared. But definitely go! If you're of an open mind for new cuisine and appreciate the time and love that goes into a home cooked meal, you will not be disappointed!More
