The restaurant is in an old and charming house. Service is always good and friendly and the quality of the food can be counted on.

We went there for a dinner mid week. Food was excellent, in particular the Dim Sum. Probably one of the best Chinese kitchen in Zurich. Service and ambience were ok, but nothing special.

Service improved during the evening, however the first few minutes had already left a sour taste in our mouths. Waitress seemed in a rush in an empty restaurant. Some sales tactics deployed which we didn't appreciate as this is what you get at a busy tourist Spanish restaurant, overall the service was cold and impersonal. The only time we got attention was when the waitress would force fill our drinks glasses so we would buy potentially buy more? The restaurant was well decorated and clean but the temperature was too warm and uncomfortable. The food itself just seemed to salty, every single dish. My prawn dim sum soup was loaded with salt , so much that I did not finish it, my wifes spicy soup just tasted like a spoon of Sambal Oelek had bee added to it. The main courses followed the same trail. Not really the Cantonese experience we are used to. All dishes however were well decorated with flowers etc. We had a spicy prawn dish which was ok and had more of a home made taste to it, and a Chicken Chop suey which was pale and boring. Very small portions of rice and noodles served at sky high prices (yes, Zurich is expensive) but having lived here for 9 years I am used to that, in the city itself you would get similar prices but larger portions. Also not very family friendly, I had to ask for an extra plate so my kids could share a spring roll. An obvious omission made by the waiting staff who throughout the evening never went out of their way to make us feel like valued customers. I had travelled across the city to this place for my wifes birthday. I wish I had just gone to my tried and tested local which is not as well decorated but the food and service are second to none. Shame really because the location and ambience could really take this place to a world class level. I won't be returning.

Thank you to the Owners of Zen for being able to offer such a delicious meal. Considering the Restaurant is closed due to the current Covid restrictions - they have to rely on their customers using their Take Away menu. We were not disappointed and greatly enjoyed the authentic dishes. The Chefs Dim Sum offered at the weekend should be tried - simply excellent!

We had some dim sum and then the Peking duck. The restaurant was more than just half empty. Service arrogant and unfriendly - not the usual China way. The restaurant probably suffered from the Corona crisis. The earlier newspaper articles on the website are old mail and marketing. Dim sum is not a specialty. Fried dishes all brown (probably old frying oil?) We don't know. The Peking duck was also presented almost "black" by the lady in the service. We said nothing, saw the Peking duck, nodded - go ahead - we're waiting. Although there were only a few guests in the restaurant, the Peking duck was brought back to the kitchen and the skin was not professionally separated at the table by the chef or specialist staff. That's a "no go" in a good Chinese restaurant. The skin of the Peking duck was then brought out of the kitchen. We had to smile a little. Are we now eating the duck that was only presented to us and then a plate with goose bumps comes out of the kitchen? In a Chinese restaurant? Well - no lucky dinner - maybe we just picked the wrong day? Think positive. Unfriendly service and poor cuisine force me not to recommend the restaurant. Maybe we just had no luck.

I came to this restaurant for a business lunch as my host is a big fun of this place. It was the second time in about two years. I vaguely remembered that the first time I was served deep fried king prawns and was determined not to ordered anything that resembled that. So as I love Sichuan prawns I ordered that, knowing very well that they are not fried. To my shock I was served again deep fried prawns. Nothing to do with Sichuan. I said nothing to the waitress thinking that perhaps I had overlooked the indication on the menu. Back home I checked the menu online and found absolutely no indication that Sichuan prawns come deep fried. On top of that my host paid a very hefty bill!

Since opening some 12 years ago I am always returning to the best 'Chinese' restaurant on the European continent. Christin and her husband are running a retreat offering the finest quality of ingredients you can expect to prepare a wide range of authentic dishes from many Chinese provinces. Even a Beijing Duck is far beyond any expectations compared to restaurants based in London/UK. I am proud to have the Michelin Gourmet guide informed to visit this place which have awarded the owners consecutively for the past 10 years. Only 13 minutes from Zurich main station by train. Track 21, train no. 4. Exit at Sood-Oberleimbach. Regards from Patrick.

This Chinese restaurant is mostly known for their home-made Dim-Sum, served mainly on Sunday around noon. One would think they'd also be good at other Cantonese cooking then, but those dishes are just average. Oddly, they also serve Beijing Duck (i.e. north-eastern cuisine), but that might be a compromise for the Swiss market, as most westerners don't know about the differences between the main Chinese cuisines anyway. Notably, Beijing Duck is available without pre-ordering, which suits Swiss customs, but is not common for Chinese restaurants in Zurich serving Beijing Duck. Now, regarding the Dim-Sum: Quality-wise, they are kind of OK, but really nothing to write home about! The thing which is for sure however is that they are WAY too expensive for what they are, for Dim Sum in Zurich and for any kind of Chinese dish in a restaurant in Zurich (the restaurant is actually not even located in Zurich, but in a very unspectacular, industrial location in the suburbs; it has no view at all, but a train rushing by every 20 minutes)! It's no coincidence they don't have a menu or any prices listed on their web page, as otherwise, considering the outrageous prices, not even Swiss would go there. To give you an idea: For 6 pieces of Dim Sum and a typical, average sweet'n'sour chicken or pork dish with soft drinks or a beer, expect to pay roughly 80 CHF per person, even as a group of people (bringing them more revenue and better economies). A fair price for Zurich customs would be around 40-45 CHF for that. In short: Don't go eat at the Zen, eat at any of the other, more centrally-located Cantonese restaurants in Zurich city! The dishes won't be better there, but at least you won't feel ripped-off afterwards.

My husband and I frequently visit this restaurant. We sometimes order a casual selection of their amazing dim sum (favorites are no. 22 and no. 19) with a beer on a Friday night. Or there are times when we go there as a family and enjoy their Chop Suey, sweet n sour chicken, and usually we add a new dish for fun. The food is fresh and nicely presented. Restaurant Zen is my favorite Chinese restaurant in Switzerland. Once you get to know the hostess, you will feel at home.

We arrived without reservation and though the waitress asked if we made one before, she was very friendly and recommended is the Pekin Duck. We chose the spicy variation which was awesome. For desert we had fried ice cream. And to make things better the restaurant has a lot of free parking slots. We will come back for sure.

We went there a couple of days ago to have the Beijing duck and I must say that I was positively surprised. It is probably the best you'll get around Zurich. Otherwise, the restaurant is ok, the surroundings are definitely not worth mentioning. But their food is actually very good. Staff was very friendly, too. I'm looking forward to try their homemade Hong Kong style dim sums!

I had been to this restaurant several years ago and been taken aback by their bad service. Switzerland is not really renowned for its service, but this was a whole new level of bad. I returned there a couple of days ago with a friend in the hope that things would have changed. No such luck. A sullen waitress whose body language seemed to say - why are you here to bother us - couldn't you have found somewhere else to go to? It was as if it was an imposition on them. The whole restaurant was empty when we got there and she made a big show of checking if we had reserved. Perhaps it might have turned out better if she had sent us packing. Instead she seated us and shortly after that, despite the whole restaurant being empty, she put a group of people at the table right behind us so we could barely have a decent conversation. I wonder why she did that. Another example of "I couldn't care less". We opted for a soup each and steamed mixed dim sums for two. At a price of 23.50 swiss francs per person, we assumed we would not need to order anything else. The soup cost double of what one would pay at a very decent restaurant in the heart of Zurich and was decent enough but not special. As for the dim sums - we got five apiece, of which two were vegetarian. Tiniest dim sums that I have seen. That works out to 4.50 francs per mouthful of each dim sum. Just ridiculous. We had to ask for reinforcement since we were still hungry. Opted for fried rice - one bowl was so tiny that we had to ask for a second one which was soggy and moist and took long to arrive (we were told by surly lady that it has to be made from scratch so it takes time - really?!).

Actually, i cant give even one point to this restaurant. We booked the table for dinner on saturday evening at 21.30 pm. On the way driving to them, we just received a telefoncall from them. The lady informed us coldly that as we have not yet riched their place, they are gonna close the kitchen rightnow. At that time it was just 21.13pm. Inspite of the reservation to get this kind of disguesting treatment! No argument, this kind of location dont deserve the second Chance to visit anymore. Actually we have been to this restaurant since several years, only for duck. We do feel the lady and the Atmosphäre there are getting worse and worse. But this time, this experience wont take us back to them anymore...

This restaurant is a must try for all that like Chinese food, the establishment is the cleanest that I have ever seen, and the food is also so clean tasting, sometimes when you go to a Chinese restaurant, you leave feeling over full and the taste that the food was covered in disgusting sauces with lots of fat. NOT HERE, a hidden gem in the Swiss Countryside.

My family and I have been long term fans of China Restaurant Zen in Adliswil. Not only do we enjoy superb dinners there year after year, but so look forward to having their Sunday Dim Sum brunches. I was somewhat amazed to read two recent and in my opinion, unfair reviews in July 2013 about Zen. Indeed, I had to check that it was in fact Zen in Adliswil that they were talking about! I am sure countless others who live nearby would also disagree. We have always found the owner to be extremely welcoming and charming and her husband, the Chef, is well worthy of the Michelin Star that they have been awarded year after year. I highly recommend this restaurant, its owners and more importantly the excellent cuisine.
