went for lunch, I had basic mac and cheese which was just the way I like it with no extra bits! It was so tasty, the other half had the beef burger which was amazing. Great service, good atmosphere. Highly recommend

Luckily we got the last table that wasn’t booked. Great service and food was delicious. And they had my favourite wine (wither hills). Totally recommend.

This was such a pleasant surprise. We had such a lovely dinner here. The quality of the meal would have done any major centre proud. The host -Louise?was so engaging and welcoming. The specials looked and were just as described and delicious. Would highly recommend...on your trip around the Catlins. The owners have been there 4 years and I wish them all the success in such a stunning part of our country.More

We were pleased we had booked!! The food was excellent, the atmosphere convivial (without being at all crowded), the staff delightful (attentive, never intrusive) and the prices sensible. A great find in a small town like Owaka.

When we booked we were told they were fully booked but they could put us up at the bar. I think we had the best seat in the house as we were able to have a conversation with Louise the owner and the very delightful...young waitress The food was superb and I am sure they could teach the Auckland restaurants a thing or two. Highly recommended make sure you book in advance.More

Nice meal in a pleasant setting. Pleased we booked on a Saturday night as capacity is clearly limited. Recommend you do the same. I enjoyed the blue cod and my wife's gluten free dietary requirement was met with no fuss at all. Very pleasant and...helpful lady running the front of house, nothing was too much trouble. Eating options are very limited on the Catlins but Lumberjack is certainly recommend.More

Amazing experience from phone booking to paying afterwards. Went the extra mile to fit us in when already fully booked on a Saturday night. Best restaurant meals (lamb cutlets + pan-fried salmon) that we've had in a long time. Great desserts. Locally brewed beers. Friendly...staff. Highly recommend.More

We enjoyed all of our meal. Plenty of vegetarian, gluten free etc options and regular favourites, all done well. The desserts were delicious too and left us very contented.

The Lumberjack Cafe is the only place in the Clutha region where the vegetarian option isn’t ‘salmon’, and the vegan option isn’t ‘get f-ed’. Truly a wonderful experience. The coffee was outstanding, the soup was flavoursome, and the chia seed pudding resurrected me from the...pile of dust that I was on a hungover Sunday morning. Made the 3 hour roadie tolerable. They are accomodating for any food autism you may have, as my friend asked for the corn fritters just by themselves, no topping or sauce. Instead of getting laughed out of the cafe, the lovely waitress asked the kitchen if they could do that for us, which they could. Hands down one of the best places we’ve been to.More
