We had the London burger and a veggie burger. They were absolutely huge! The London (meat) burger was quite salty and the bun was soggy from the tomatoes/salad. Chips were tasteless. The home made lemonade is quite refreshing. All in all, did the job. We visited at 5pm on a February afternoon. The cafe has glass doors which were open to the terrace so I would take a coat. The bill came to just over 20 euros.

Nice place with friendly staff and great food!

Nicely designed place with friendly staff. I had the best Caprese salad (mozzarella and tomatoes, topped with avocados, olives, rucola and pine nuts)👌🏼 The portion was huge and made with fresh ingredients and a lot of love. Afterwards I had a slice of apple pie for desert. Please stop by this place when you go to Bordeira beach, it won’t disappoint!

A great find

We weren't very hopeful of finding something to eat in Carrapateira as most restaurant seem to be closed in January but what a find the Microbar was. It was buzzing with young surfers having delightful looking hamburgers (dressed with fruit or avocado, fried eggs etc). We settled for Toasties. These are no ordinary toasted sandwiches but gorgeous open sandwiches on very nice bread. They are substantial (we ended up with a doggy bag). I had a goat's cheese with great lettuce and raspberry jam. My husband had a Brie, prosciutto, avocado and onion jam toastie. These cost €9+. We had been tempted by the lovely cakes on show but unfortunately had to pass on this occasion. The menu is extensive for such a small place. It offers something for all appetites. The staff were most pleasant. We'll be back!

Consistently rude

Been coming here for years. We love the food but they are unbelievably arrogant and rude. Opens at 1pm but never actually opens before 2pm leave people eating outside. No explanation . No apology. In fact the opposite. It's like they don't give a damm. Then when they finally open the doors ,huffily, they slowly have to serve all the tables at once. Hence a long wait after already waiting an hour for them to open. It's now 2.25 and I haven't even had my order taken yet due to the chaotic service. Absolutely ridiculous. It survives on its reputation of good food . It's service died many years ago.

Grumpy staff, stale bread, very pricey

I agree with other reviews that the portion sizes are huge but the prices are VERY HIGH. I found the staff grumpy and unhelpful. The bread brought to the table was stale. The second try at bread was warmed flatbread. The restaurant has no toilets. You have to walk right round the square to the public toilets which, although clean enough, had no paper and no hand drying facility. Micro Bar wake up!

Excellent food; attitude - not so great. After spending nearly 40€ in cocktails and snacks we asked for some carrot sticks to finish the dips. The lady who took our order was visibly bothered by our request and ended up bringing the tiniest portion, not even one carrot, which costed us nearly 4€. We were informed about this disproportionate additional cost only when presented with the bill. Huge portions of delicious food.

Visiting in January when there are few other options, this was a total delight. The atmosphere was nice, the food was fresh and tasty, and came in astoundingly big portions. Totally wonderful. Returned the next day for coffee and yummy cake in the afternoon.

Special place...

This is the kind of bar/bistro you would dream to find where-ever you are on earth. Pure, tasteful, balanced dishes, super-fresh, made with love and with ultimate respect for the product. Generously sized (which means often to big for me). Opens rather late at noon and only when 'they' are ready, but it's its always worth waiting for it. We usually stay in Portimao, but each holiday we try to make the trip to to Carrapateira once, to have lunch here and to enjoy the fantastic trail along the coast.

Absolutely delicious food

Actually I think it was the best food I had in the area. I went for 4 times and it was great every single time. The service, the placee, thee food, everything. The arancini are delicious, the sandwiches are all delicious, my favourite was with aubergine, goat cheese, pine seeds. The burgers are great., the chicken the same, the cakes are very good, I had 3 of them, all delicious.I would come back again and again.

Microbar in Carrapateira is a Must-Do!

My wife and I enjoyed 4 meals at the Microbar in Carrapateira during our 3 weeks cycling in the área. First thing you notice is everyone is watching the food delivery to the tables, and whatever it is, they want it too! Truly beautiful presentation and a feast for the eyes. The flavours, colours and textures are not just beautiful, they are delicious! We loved the the Samosas, Curry, Burgers and Salads. The super-friendly owners are very nice and we enjoyed each visit for both the food and speaking with the owners. We highly recommend checking it out!!! B and T from Vancouver, Canada 🇨🇦

Surprisingly delicious

Surprisingly good food. Fresh smoothie with straw made of pasta. Even Cola comes with ice and lemon in glass. Not just opened bootle like in many places. I tried burger Sweet Carrapateira which was wonderful.. I never seen any similar burger where is meat with fruits but they can make this combination delicious. Here is vegan ice creams and cakes. I would say it is definitely worth to stop here and also take loop trail which is part of Rota Vicentina. This bar will save this small village called Carrapateira!

Best Burgers in the Algarve?

Fantastic little micro bistro, expect to wait for a table during busy times. We had the Seville burger & Brie & bruschetta toast .. both excellent. Watching the other food being served only confirmed that the micro bar is worth a visit

A delightful find

We were so delighted to find this refreshingly different cafe/restaurant . The menu itself made delightful reading with its creative descriptions of the dishes they serve. But even that didn't do justice to the visual pleasure of seeing a beautiful plate of food put in front of you . A feast for the eyes that made you smile with anticipation. I noticed other customers equally delighted. Portions were generous and each mouthful delicious. We ate here 3 times in the few days we were in this beautiful area. The coffee was excellent. Service was friendly and fast, you felt they knew what they were doing. We really appreciated it and all the hard work that goes into making it look easy. Thank you

Creative salads

Had a great detox salad with beetroot fennel orange berries leaves radishes and avocado. I love this restaurant as it has creative salads and lots of great non carb options. My friend raved about his goat's cheese burger. Glad we happened across this place.

Big Flavour Surprise!

Just spotted the Micro Bar in the square whilst passing. Went for a quick drink, ended up eating, feeding the kids and being really impressed with all aspects. Kids burgers, big, tasty and well executed. Bruschetta and hummus homemade, fresh and full of flavour. Ice cold beer and sift drinks is always a great sign.
