We dined here each of our 3 nights at the park and except for one evening where the special of pork tenderloin was overdone, all of our food was very good. The wait staff was attentive and very friendly. On our first night though, we asked our waiter if we could just split the salad before the main course. He bent down and in a low voice told us that they normally charge an additional $8 to split plates but he would get around that. Turns out you don't pay to split salads and appetizers here. Otherwise, we can highly recommend this restaurant. If you can get reservations, it is a good idea.

We stayed in a hotel near Grand Teton National Park that did not have a restaurant on site, so we managed to snag a reservation at The Mural Room for breakfast one morning. A very nice buffet breakfast was available, including an omelet station as well as a waffle bar. A "healthy start" option is available at a reduced price, which does not include any of the hot egg items. Service was prompt and attentive. And the view can't be beat!

We had high hopes for the Mural Room (views and food). The food was no better than any other large conference or convention center in my experience. The chowder was heavy and potatoes undercooked. They were out of the elk and two of us ordered the trout instead. Served skin up, I was surprised that the skin was seasonless and not seared crispy. The creamed spinach side was basically a spinach dip - heavy on the cream and light on the spinach. Four of us dined and none of us were especially impressed with any of the food. At the end of the meal, we had to hunt down our server for our check after staring at half-eaten, cold plates for 20 minutes. We declined dessert. Sadly, our view was obscured by wildfire smoke. Our dinner at the Mural Room was utterly disappointing. We opted for takeout sandwiches from the grill next door the following night and enjoyed sunset on the Blue Heron patio. It was better food for 1/4 of the cost!

So this very expensive restaurant at Jackson Lake says they "require dinner reservations." No mention of luncheon reservations. We wanted to take son and his family to lunch for their anniversary. I called twice 10 days ahead of our visit and no one answered. Message suggested leaving a message and they would call back. I left a message and they never called back. We go for lunch and of course you have to have reservations. We got lunch next door at a carry out place which I bet was the same food and ate out on the patio. Much better view, lower price and great service. You need reservations but really no way to make them. Skip the Mural Room for sure.

After we arrived, we found that they were out of several entrées. Some of this is to be expected with a late seating, but I am used to substitutions - not half the menu being unavailable. Because of the limited selection, we ordered two of the same thing (bison strip loin). We waited about 35 minutes for the entrees. When they arrived, mine was fine -- not great, but fine. My companion's was an inedible piece of meat that should not have been served; he left half of it (all gristle) on his plate. The server, rather than noticing, just rushed us along toward dessert even as he was still eating. Yes, it was getting toward closing, but only because the kitchen had been so slow with the food. The sides and the dessert (huckleberry galette) were the only redeeming parts of the meal. Music volume + placement of speakers made conversation difficult at our booth. I do not recommend eating here. Eat okay food elsewhere in the park and save your money for an actual good experience somewhere else.

After being seated we waited 23 minutes for water, While waiting on service, another staff member rush over to our table stating he needed our wine list for another table. He grabbed the menu and disappeared. Once our waiter appeared, he could not remember what was on menu but was sure the restaurant was out of certain items. Once our order was placed with great difficulty, we waited addition 40+ minutes for our salads. After an additional 45 + minutes, something resembling hot leather was served. At this point, I requested a small chain saw to cut the Buffalo meat but was handed a dull knife. After running out of water and wine, I had to flag down wait staff for additional hydration. Thankfully all guest were able to escape the Mural Room without choking. For a decent and quality meal, I would recommend Dairy Queen which is just a short 40 minute drive south ….

Mural room dinner Nice view out the big windows. Hotter in the sun. Ordered nice wine. Good. Ordered two prime rib plates with mashed and spinach sides. Great but served barely warm. Sent both plates back. Steam table sides and prime rib? Came back slightly warmer. Ate them anyway. Hungry. 40th Anniversary. Carl the manager came by at the end to ask about our issues. Told him cold food twice. Gave us a free $8 desert. The bill also showed an $8 charge for a split plate on salad that was $16. A smallish salad? $209 tab. Left the waiter $20 as it was not his fault. Why is it hard to get hot food to my table? Colder steam table? Dishes had covers on them? Long trek to the table? Heat the plates plus the food? Altitude at Tetons? You tell me. All i expected was steaming hot food . Not possible? Wish i had cooked my own prime filets at our rv. At least it would have been served Hot.

Server brought dessert menu midway through our main course. Busgirl tried to take away our plates with my wife still chewing and her fork in her hand. Otherwise, tenderloin special was very good but overpriced ($46) for what was supposed to be 6 oz but seemed more like 3’oz. Also $20 to unscrew our own bottle of wine. View is spectacular so part of the cost is for the view.

Must have reservations for ANY meal. WAY overpriced and food was not enjoyable. Breakfast buffet items all cold and most serving dishes were almost empty. Dinner also disappointing - tried many different dishes snd we liked none. Example - ordered creamed spinach and there were only flecks of green in a pool of cream sauce. Find somewhere else to eat. You can enjoy the view for free in the lobby or on the patio.

The view is fantastic. The service is good. The overall atmosphere is excellent. But…the food delivery and quality are inconsistent ranging from very good to poor. We ate here four times during our stay at Jackson Lake Lodge; three dinners and one breakfast. We paid five star dining rates but on two occasions received one star dining quality. The trout and salmon were disappointments, a bit fishy tasting and very small salmon portion. Dinner was great one night and poor the next. We had great steak the first night and fatty, chewy steak the second night. The breakfast buffet was a disaster. The “healthy” option had fruit, undercooked nut bread (as in raw dough in the center), and English muffins that had to be toasted with only grape jelly and butter as spreads. Egg and waffle trays were empty for way too long with six to eight diners waiting 10-15 minutes for them to be filled (of course, they then ran out again in a minute or two). Long story short, the kitchen and management need to step up their games before this concessionaire gets a good review from me.

The food was good; our service was subpar. The omelet station was wonderful; fruit was fresh and abundant. BUT Charlie's section was filled with happy people who were greeted by a most happy and wonderful server, found in Charlie! He could be heard all around the restaurant greeting people and making sure they were taken care of with a smile. Our 2 servers were barely smiling and one took my husbands coffee away while it was still steaming. He then took it OUT OF THE DIRTY DISHES and brought it back. Um no thank you. Thanks Charlie even though you didn't serve us, you truly made the morning memorable

Restaurant was out of a few items and what we did get was poor quality. Soup was cold, elk was tough and trout was dry! Save yourself some money, grab a drink from the bar next door and sit out on the deck to enjoy the view. Service was also very slow as they seemed to be understaffed.

We had a poor meal at this restaurant. The starter, baked brie and pear compote was acceptable but the prime rib was a fatty undercooked over salted piece of rubbish. Partners trout was marginally better but nothing to shout about. We did have very good service from Jenna (I think that was her name) from PA who appeared to be swimming against the tide in holding her section together. The service was slow however but not Jenna's fault - it was just the rest of the restaurant was in a shambles. We watched a poor stressed supervisor spend most of his time apologising to diners for practically everything! The tarpaulin had been removed from the windows so we did have a view through the scaffolding. We made the mistake of revisiting the Mural Room for breakfast the next day. There was no Jenna, only clueless youths wondering around like headless chickens. The buffet was poorly stocked and you'd think you had asked for a mountain to be moved to get some food put out, useless servers. And it was extortionately expensive. It was noisy too as the scaffolders were dismantling the scaffolding.

We had a nice dinner with good food at The Mural Room. The room itself is nicely decorated, but it is the view of the Tetons that is spectacular. The meal was very good - we shared the charcuterie for our first coarse and it included different and delicious meats and accompaniments. It was plenty for two people. We then both had the prime rib with a horseradish cream sauce, and that, too, was delicious and cooked perfectly. The only mis-steps were with the service. For example, the entrees came while we were still eating our appetizer. The server was very nice about it, and served us later at our request, but there was a lack of polish that keeps me from giving a 5 star review. I know there is a staff shortage, and everyone was certainly trying to do their best. Those little gaffs wouldn't dissuade us from returning and we definitely recommend that you give it a try.

Family vacation in Tetons, looking forward to a great meal so we made reservations at the mural. I ordered the wagyu steak, although expensive. The steak was one of the toughest steaks I ever had despite the high price. Every other member of our family was not very happy with their meals as well. Service was slow as well. This is supposed to be a high end restaurant. I know it's only tourists dining here with no repeat customers but the restaurant needs to take a long hard look at the quality of the service and food.
