Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We were here last year and decided to come back this year, as we had a good experience. This year they don’t accept reservations, so we tried one evening but had to give up as the queue outside was huge. We tried the evening after,...this time earlier (around 7:45-8pm it’s easy to find a table), and the place was still empty. Only issue is that they set the tables already with an expected number of guest, so, despite there was a nearly empty restaurant, we ended up in the only table for 4 set, in a hidden corner, hot and without much aeration. We asked to go in another table which was set for 5, in a much better position, but we were told that it wasn’t possible. As a result, when the people at the table next you ours started smoking (!! It’s allowed as it’s outside) we ended up breathing their smoke. They also changed the menu, with small tapas as starters. We found that quite a good idea, we ordered a selection and they were all quite good. Impepata di cozze very good actually. We had a pasta dish (calamarata with seafood), very good, and a zuppa di pesce way below expectation. It was insipid and way too liquid, with small fish that required a lot of work to be cleaned. We had to ask for a bowl to place the fish bones, and would not even get a tissue to clean our hands. Overall, the place has become worse than last year, hopefully they realize it was not for the better.More

We arrived hungry so perhaps our service expectations where extra high. We felt a little ignored as the servants chatted with the Italian speaking guests. The food however was delicious. The swallowed fishbone was all on me!

Very good value restaurant serving fresh fish dishes and interesting range of tapas style starters. I had the mixed fried fish, my wife had the fish of the day. We really enjoyed this meal

Good food but service was awful due to lack of attention. Most likely an extra staff member would have allowed for better service.

Our family just spent 7 days in San Domino. We tried several restaurants during our stay. On the last night we found L'Altro Faro. Up to that night we were pretty disappointed with food on the island. Upon taking a bite of my seafood risotto...I realized we finally found the place. It was cooked perfectly and full of flavor. I followed it with mixed grilled seafood. Also wonderful. The service was excellent and the staff was very nice. If you are looking for a fast meal there are plenty of pizzerias on the island. If you want an excellent dinner, don't look any further than L'Altro Faro.More

The staff were lovely, the place itself was charming and the food was incredible. I had the fried seafood mix which included baby squid, calamari and some small fried fish. It was amazing, and the house wine was good too.

We happened to be walking by and something told us that L' Altro Faro was a place we wanted to try. It was fabulous -- we were on island 4 nights and the two nights we chose not to eat at our hotel (we were...on half board), this was the place. Once was not enough. The service is excellent and the food, exquisite -- fresh, local, original. I would go back to San Domino in part to dine at L'Altro Faro again ...and again!More

When we walked around the Island we passed a large vegetable garden with signs indicating you could eat them in the nearby restaurant. We had a look at the restaurant and went back the same evening with rather high expectations. Well they were met easily,...also the next day when we went there again. It is a shame if you don't eat there when on Isole Tremiti!More

The Tremiti Islands are a great secret. One of those places in Italy you find every so often where there are no foreigners, no VIPs and no fluff. This is one chilled-out destination. If you want to eat an equally chilled-out restaurant where the food...is really good and really simple, L'Altro Faro is the place. This is my third year visiting the Tremiti and I tend to eat almost every dinner at L'Altro Faro. It's small and intimate (so do a make a reservation as they fill up fast), with al fresco dining and an eclectic crowd...all the food is super-fresh and depends on the daily catch. Lots of whole grilled fish, a terrific starter course of "assaggini" that runs the gamut from local octopus (grilled) to a nice tasting of cous-cpus infused with some finely chopped fish. The local capers are front and center and are awesome. The zuppa di pesce is delicious and rich, but could be more spicy. We enjoyed the distinctively Pugliese bread and did the "scarpetta", or the dragging of the bread through the rich fish sauce! The steamed muscles this year, while fresh and tasty, also could have used some oomph in the form of spice. The grilled fish was perfect and so fresh it makes me ashamed to serve the stuff I buy at home. The preparations are simple, flavorful and easy on the eyes. It's also easy on the wallet, too, as dinner for two with a good bottle of wine will run €55-€70, a very good value for food this good and this fresh. This is terrific place to relax, eat well, enjoy a great Pugliese wine and remind yourself of how lucky you are to have found the Tremiti and L'Altro Faro.More
