As you walk in the front door, you are quickly greeted with both clutter and noise and plenty of it too. Whilst plenty of people are little to no tables available is a good thing for their business and the potential quality of food it did start to leave me wondering whether or not I was starting to lose my hearing. We were seated next to an exceptionally loud group of people who screamed incessantly and made next to impossible to hear the people from across the table I was sitting at! There were no other tables free so we had to suffer increasing strident of noise. The wait times were mediocre, 30 minutes at least around midday during the weekend (probably to be expected) but once arrived, the food was sublime. The pancakes (ordered with Berry Compote) went down a treat, the pancakes were divine and the berry compote just quelled the overall sweet taste for a near perfect mix. The cream went untouched. The Eggs Benedict also went down well despite the portions being huge and sometimes overwhelming. All in all, a lovely meal but draining out the noise would have made it a lot more enjoyable. I'd come back and order the same meal but request a table outside where the natural sounds of the world can be appreciated.

I had the corn fritters. I’ve had them before. Normally delicious! Sadly today they tasted a little stale and portion smallish but good price at $12! Also would love some sour cream on the side. Sweet chili sauce doesn’t quite work. Id prefer a chutney personally .

I am someone who has to live with a very restricted diet - with sugary treats being a particular no-no. Sweet Vanilla provides plenty of options for people like me - and they taste amazing!!! The meals are beautifully cooked and the coffee is great! Oh, and the staff there are friendly, helpful and very patient as folks struggle to choose between their yummy offerings :). Highly recommend.

The food at this cute little café is to die for, they make all their food with the tastiest ingredients.
The place can be a bit loud, and the staff are not shy with the use of swear words at a loud volume.
If you don't mind the noise and profanity, it is a lovely place to eat

Visited Sweet Vanilla Kitchen with my family (bonus points they allow dogs in the garden area so we got to bring our dog too!) and had a lovely time! Great selection of vegan options. I had the vegan buckwheat pancakes and the maple hazelnut loaf. Such lovely food and wonderful staff. They have a fully stocked cabinet and menu, plenty of allergy friendly items, there is something for everyone! Would definitely visit again when back in Wellington!

Cosy cafe with delicious food. Went for lunch - I had the vegan version of avocado on toast ( mushrooms instead of poached eggs) very generous portion and friendly and prompt service. Lots of tempting cabinet food, cakes and many options for keto and gluten free diets.

Was passing Lower Hutt and trip advisor recommended this place as number 1 so thought to try it. Food is quite nice..I did mention to the staff that we came here as we read good reviews etc and started a conversation about it. Sadly realised she couldn’t be bothered to listen. Maybe they were busy and hence, her response. But I think when a customer is giving feedback.. especially if it a good one, the business will appreciate it. This was a bit of a put off honestly!

Sweet Vanilla is always packed with people. A lot save their seats because it is so popular. The atmosphere is boisterous and quite noisy but the food is the great! They make their own cakes which is very popular. I would highly recommend.

It’s hard to imagine that Lower Hutt has such a good award winning cafe tucked away in its suburbs. Delicious cabinet food, cracking menu, I loved the full breakfast and flat wife. Will definitely be back for more.

My son took me to Sweet Vanilla Kitchen for my birthday lunch. We booked ahead, and were so glad, as it was very busy. We had a lovely lunch of chicken salad and Avacado, Mushrooms and Haloumi on grain toast. The atmosphere was relaxing and the service was excellent. The coffee was great and I finished with a slice of Lemon Tart. We will be back, and its worth all the travel from kaitoke. Highly recommend Sweet Vanilla Kitchen

Sweet Vanilla Kitchen offers delightful cakes at the counter that are an absolute treat. However, it can get a bit loud, so acoustic panels on the ceiling might help
