Have to say the food is as close to art as you might get. Beautiful combination of taste and the presentation of some thing as simple as granola is out of the world. Zuzana and her colleagues where very friendly and helpful . Plus great...coffee too. But the star was the chef and the works of art that we as customers had the privilege to eat.More

Went here for lunch today and tried their duck burger and the seafood chowder. Chowder came with fresh clams and mussels in more of a bisque than a creamy white chowder and it was delicious and filling. The duck burger was equally good. Local beers...from Baylands and Panhead are a great choice.More

Over from Nelson for son's birthday. He booked this as he'd heard it was the best in town The two shared platters were interesting and enjoyable for four to share. My wife & I both had the Poussin which was okay but a little tough....The leak was uncutable with the knife provided. Our son enjoyed the meat four ways which he chose and his girlfriend enjoyed her gnocchi. Two bottles of Hawked Bay Chardonnay. $140.00. Service was good.More

Wow. After reading all previous reviews I have to say I'm very surprised. We had a good experience here. We were greeted by a smiling waitress who seated us and brought us both drinks and dinner menus immediately. Within five minutes we had our wine...served, and ten minutes later we ordered. I found the menu very tempting, but the seafood selections sounded so delicious we chose only them. The star of the show was the oyster starter - plump rock oysters serve in the shell topped with a delicate apple granita and a dash of wasabi gin - creatively presented on a flat piece of rock, cemented with a white salt paste, which we were warned was NOT edible! They were truly delicious. Our tuna ceviche was in fact more of a tuna tartare, presented as a shaped mound of chopped raw tuna topped with the coconut dressing. While the fish was moist, fresh and tender, it lacked the punch of a true ceviche marinated in lime and then tossed with spiced coconut cream. Acceptable as a tartare, not as a ceviche. The smoked salmon filos were tasty morsels of salmon dressed with a smidgeon of caviar and tartare set on a spoonful of avocado puree. Very nice. We both chose the fish of the day - fresh snapper cooked perfectly, still very tender and moist, which is a tricky thing to get right with fish. The accompanying prawns and clams were similarly good, and the crayfish bisque that seated the whole dish was delicate and served as a sauce to tie all flavours together. A few drops of an intense crayfish oil around the plate would have raised the flavour a notch without overpowering the dish, but that's my opinion only. We ordered the broccolini side, and the salad - both were very good, and each dish was enough for two which is not usually the case. The hollandaise on the broccolini was very citrussy and deliciously creamy. My husband was delighted with the prosciutto in the mango salad - he's a bacon freak. As you can probably guess, we were both stuffed after this feast, so never did try the desserts. The wine list is small, but there's something there for everyone. All in all we enjoyed our time at Oli and Me - the place is intimate, but has a nice atmosphere, and our waitress never left us hanging. Yes it's expensive-ish, but worth it for a special occasion.More

We recently had dinner at Oli and Mi. I’m not a food critic so I won’t pretend to pass judgement on the food other to say my chicken was nice as was her pork belly. And both of us enjoyed our deserts. But our disappointment...was with the menu. The menu on display outside is not the menu online or inside. The staff said they lost the key to the outside menu box and so they’ve left a very out of date menu on display. Which is a shame because the old menu was a lot more exciting than the current one. Of the 8 mains choices, 3 were burgers. And one was literally a cheese burger. I’m not sure why you would book into a restaurant to then order a cheese burger - or any burger. The atmosphere was nice, the place was clearly busy and popular, the staff were lovely, but the menu needs a good dusting off.More

Me and my girl dinned at your historic and well presented premises last night. We were late, it was 8:40pm, but you accommodated us regardless! even though you were close to closing. Lovely staff, and we were given a nice corner table for 2. You...were so attentive, which I love, nothing worse than going, um "over here please".. did not have that problem at your place! She got the Pork Belly, and I, the Prime Angus, Medium rare, upon first bite.. I thought it was too rare.. but as I dug in, it was beyond perfect! every single bite was an immersion in my mouth! I was half way through mine, she had finished hers! You won her heart that fast! I used to be a chef, and I can not fault any part of the meal.. even the chips were cooked perfectly, all sauces. Everyone go here~!More

We had checked the menu on line but when we arrived this had changed. Very basic and expensive. My husbands pork belly was okay he said my steak was okay but overpriced for the cut. Deserts largish but crepes too thick and tiramisu had no...punch. Wine overpriced. We had a voucher for $100 so thought we better spend more but it still cost another 72. Would have been okay but dining experience very average, friendly staff and nice surroundings.More

Went there for dinner and it was freezing cold in there, definitely not the only place that is too cheap to heat their interior in Petone. Food is nice but make sure you wear a jacket, and keep it on!More

A large family group nicely accommodated in their private room, excellent service food very good, and they cheerfully accomodate our family made birthday cake. This place is the top of the quality range in Petone, so prices a bit higher. The place has a moderate...number of tables, which does in practice limit the menu range. But the shared tapas set is varied and the best non ethnic place to go in PetoneMore

We went as a group of 4 on a Friday night and were shown to our table. The menu was limited and the prices were high so it was very disappointing to get food that did not meet the price level. To serve a steak...on its own with a small cup of watery salsa is not higher end dining. Our spatchcock chicken was better but just adequate. The side dishes of small roast garlic overpowered potato and mixed greens, which was a sliced courgette, were again expensive and disappointing. The wine again was very expensive and purchasable for about 25% of the menu price at a wine merchants. The only positive was the desserts which were a better presented and tasty. This restaurant is now on its 3rd owner over the years we have visited from the Uk and it’ll not surprise me to see it change hands again by our next visit.More
