Delicious Korean food! Love staff and environment. The food didnt take much time to serve. Early booking recommended. We tried deep fried squid, dolsot bibimbap, Doenjang Jjigae, Dduk-bokki. All the foods were yummy. The Dduk-bokkki was the best

First time for us eating at a Korean restaurant and we found the experience very good. The service was great, the food unusual and very tasty and good selection of Korean wines which we found interesting. All in all, a great experience.

I had been wanting to have Korean food for a long time and my friends recommended this place. We were not disappointed. We tried "kimchi pancake" as a starter and it was delicious. "Stir Fry Udon noodles" was great as well. The owners are very...friendly and accommodating. We changed our plans few times before coming but they were very patient. Definitely we will be visiting again.More

I recently dined at this best kept secret with a couple of friends. We didn’t have a booking but were offered a 10m wait - which we thankfully took - turned out to be only 5!. The Sercvice was impeccable, and quick. The food was...so delicous, i can’t wait to eat there again and try something different!!More

Had a great meal here with the family. Owner was very helpful in explaining the dishes and what would work best for us as we hadn't tried a Korean place before. The food was excellent and everyone enjoyed their meal. Even the young ones. Can...be a bit on the high side in terms of price so it wont be a weekly thing.More

Han River definitely worth a visit, great food and service. It is located on Margaret St, which is off the main street. It's exterior does not do it justice. It's very unassuming, even unattractive. The food is tasty, the portions generous. They are dished up...attractively. You can have a meal set designed for one, or hotpots and bbqs for sharing. We has meal sets. A barbequed pork belly and a kind of sweet, sour and spicy chicken. The pickles are very tasty. The meat cooked in very delicious sauces, though a little on the sweet side, and perhaps not as spicy as I expected Korean food to be. But delicious. The interior decor is budget-restaurant style, but don't be put off. As long as they put more effort and investment in the food. However, it is clean and comfortable. The service we experienced was great. Don't be shy about having the food explained if, like us, you're not familiar with Korean food. We found them helpful and friendly. And the food came out relatively quickly. A couple of negatives. One is that we thought that a lot of the menu was quite pricey for Asian, but still reasonable overall, $66 for two, including Korean beers. The other is that it was a cold, wet night. Everyone was actually eating wearing their coats and hats. We asked if the could turn the heating up....they actually turned the heating on. This business has been going for about 10 years, and the restaurant was full of Asians, so they are doing lots of things right. Overall, it was a good experience. We would return.More

Party of 10 people. First time to this restaurant. Seated at a long table, and served in a very short time. The table service was attentive, knowledgeable and helpful. The entrees arrived together, and the mains delivered after entree dishes removed. The food was, as...far as we could determine, genuine Korean, and served with side dishes of radish and kimchi. One of our party had served on Korean vessels and vouched for the flavours and textures. The hot-pots were particularly tasty. At $33 per head this was excellent value. It would be fair to say that we will return to sample some more great food and service.More

The hot beef stew was good. Came out sizzling. The bits of beef coutd be a little smaller so they can be picked up with the chop sticks

I've been going here for a couple of years and it used to be great - reasonable prices, delicious food and service that is second to none. Now the menu has changed and the owners a couple of times with it. Their 40 dollar share...dish is now $50, and the service is not as good. I don't go back in a hurry anymore.More

This is quite a popular restaurant in Lowe Hutt. My friend lives here told me that the ownership has changed over and over again. The price has also increased. I do not find it pricey and the portion is large. I ordered a spicy chicken...stew, a seafood pan cake and spicy noodle. We couldn’t finished any dish and packed the pan cake. The food standard is good and that’s perhaps the reason why it’s popular. It’s authentic Korean style.More

Arrived, 8pmish.... it was full, full of Koreans! ( speaks for itself!) Got last table, for 2. Ordered : pan fried dumplings to share. These were a little bland.. nothing that added ,soy sauce won't fix. 5/10 Korean pancake with mixed seafood. Very similar to...the JapanesePancake..cabbage based, flat, cooked in a frypan with batter but they forgot, ( couldn't find any) the seafood.. as said, it was BUSY!,, The bottom was crispy in most part, except the middle.. just slightly doughy.. ( 20 secs?) It was ok. 5/10 Marinated pork belly veges, sauce, and rice: 4 thin sliced ( bacon slicer), strips of quite lean belly pork, marinated and panfried( or could have been on a grill plate ) sat atop pan fried cabbage and mixed veges and sauce/ gravy, along side a serving of rice. It was ok.. the sauce/ gravy was the " glue" That held it together . 5/10. An extra slice of pork belly would have improved the dish! We shared the meal.. left quite sated..... return(?), Yes.. $52 for 2 people.. it's okay,!! I don't know if it's my IPad or what.. but again the rating system don't work again Never been... try it, U might(will) come back for 2nds!More

This is my go to spot for my regular Korean Takeaway! Unfortunately it seems this restaurant has recently changed owners or staff. Previously the service was incredible and the food was excellent, after several visits I couldn't fault this place at all. But recent visits...show a few changes to the inside of the restaurant, along with new staff, making me think this is under new management, and this change has been at the detriment to service and food quality. The food quality has changed from excellent (no faults) to just simply good. The menu has stayed the same but the resulting food doesn't match the menu any more, little changes and substitutions such as supplying plain white rice instead of the special red rice which was on the menu. Even with these changes the food quality is still good. The biggest decrease is in service quality, which was excellent, to just average now. The new management seem to be trying however the wait for food is longer than it used to be, the staff were confused with what was actually on the menu, and on two occasions I've arrived to pick up my takeaways and the restaurant has lots of people seated at tables but no staff. After waiting for awhile the waiter came from kitchen looking a little stressed and made me sit at a table and went back to kitchen, which was really odd. It's sad to see these types of changes especially because this place was amazing so I have super high expectations now. This is still my favourite Korean restaurant in Wellington area, and I still recommend this place. I will go back, but our frequency of visits has declined significantly.More

The Han River Korean Restaurant is a very unassuming and almost bland eatery. However, the quality and authenticity of the food is outstanding. The prices of the dishes are also very reasonable and you dont have to break the bank to take the family out...for a meal that will give them a taste of Korea. The atmosphere and decorations are a little uninspiring, otherwise I would give this 5 stars.More
