Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

magical place, they have a very beautiful and evocative widespread hotel all well taken care of down to the smallest detail, essentially a mini apartment at a more than acceptable cost. they have fantastic traditional Abruzzo cuisine, the Santo Stefano lentil soup, the kebabs, but also their bulk wine is worth it, not to mention the cheeses and their tarts, all with so much courtesy and patience, well done!! then if you are lucky enough to have a clear night you can already see the stars from the window of the mini apartment, in the morning then a beautiful sight appears in front of you in an incredible quiet, it is worth it and I will return hopefully as soon as possible, and I thank the hoteliers for the courtesy, but also the other hoteliers who all did their utmost to give the best information to visit the suggestive fortress and nearby church which unfortunately was closed

We enter this small restaurant, obviously booked days in advance, they make us sit, table set at the moment, I presume the owner takes the order, brings drinks, the drinks and dishes arrive but the cutlery is missing, one thinks that since he is rightly alone there could be an oversight, at a certain point while we were eating the appetizer, suddenly a stray cat entered the room looking for food and honestly, it was quite annoying as the cat didn't belong to anyone, against our clothes which were obviously full of hair and the boy (waiter or owner I don't know) replies "oh well and a cat".
If a customer tells you about that inappropriate presence it means that it is annoying, or in any case it could be that a customer may be allergic to cat fur.
Well let's move on, after the first one the boy arrives and says that the liver roasts are finished and that to please the other tables they only gave us 2 per table... it was better not to bring them as they weren't good at all...
However, the bill was quite high for the quality and quantity of the dishes.

Couple's lunch outdoors.
I also used the toilets, which were very clean, and I noticed the very beautiful and well-kept rustic interiors.
I read reviews from other people who wrote about slow service...
Far from it... We were there today, the place was full and the two girls were very quick, friendly and attentive.
Delicious food, from appetizers to meats (very fresh) to homemade desserts.
The relationship between quality and price is right.
My compliments 😊👌

Kind at the beginning in looking for a place inside, but the positive things end there. Once the order was taken, the appetizers arrived almost immediately. Then we were completely forgotten. After an hour and a half(!!) I asked for information about the kebabs and they mumbled something to me (I had the clear impression that they had simply missed the order), telling me that they would be ready in five minutes. After half an hour, less than half of them arrived, while the others were generally left to cook. We remembered that not even the other second courses had arrived and the employee's shock ("oh yes?") was unique. In short, completely rambling, slow, confused. And rude: you don't put up a sign that says "slow service. No scrotal strikers!". To be avoided, in short. And with care. Obviously we also had to pay for the missing kebabs, as, according to them, they were "under cooking".

I will begin this review with a request addressed to the owner - I presume - (i.e. a rather young boy) to whom I ask, in fact, NOT to waste even a minute of his precious time in answering me because, as can be seen from the answers given to all those who they gave the place a negative review, it would be offensive and unprofessional. This happens when you have no way to defend yourself nor do you know humility and knowing how to apologize to those who choose your place and consequently bring hard-earned money into their coffers - ungrateful -. Having said this, I would start....: having arrived at the restaurant on time, the first scene that presents itself to us is the following: the owner - I still assume - was having lunch with a plate of pasta at our booked table, on top of our placemats and, when the waitress - who we will talk about later - "invited" him to get up to make way for us, he expressed disappointment (as if to say "you can't even eat a plate of pasta in peace!") and, needless to say, they don't even consider it appropriate to change the aforementioned placemats....). At around 1.15pm we order 2 different appetizers (1 platter of cheeses and a portion of courgette flowers with anchovies) and then continue with a second course to enjoy (lamb coratella) accompanied by 2 different side dishes (sautéed chicory for me, " vegetable ciabotto for my partner). Finally 2 medium beers and a bottle of water. Well. By 1.30pm, we had run out of starters and, consequently, drinks. Meanwhile other customers arrived and, in a short time, they were served....We order 2 more beers (so we don't have to think about it). After an hour and a quarter, frankly fed up, we asked if there were any problems with our order since - from what we could see - the other guests received their dishes... The waitress' response: "eh, okay, they still haven't they eat nothing!". Crazy. We get up calmly and go to pay. Obviously only what we had consumed. Reaction of the restaurateurs: "ok, it's €45.00, please". Crazy. Conclusions: if you expect a minimum service, this is not the place for you. If you expect an organized place, this is not the place for you. If instead you want to witness "HOW NOT TO MANAGE A RESTAURANT" which only exists and exclusively for the enchanting scenery in which it is located, it is the place for you. Good luck....Ah, I forgot: the photos you find on TA relating to the fantastic cutting boards absolutely do not correspond to reality (lower your expectations! ). P.S.: I reiterate that no reply is necessary from the owner (it will not be considered by the undersigned) and, if you would like to do so anyway, I hope it is not considered by potential customers either. Greetings. Roberto, tour operator employed in the trade since 1996.

I was here with friends after a visit to the castle of Rocca Calascio. The place has a few seats, very rustic, with a very nice wall equipped for cheeses. Good food, I really appreciated the cured meats and cheeses.
Unfortunately, however, my experience was not very pleasant, as I had to eat with a cat and a dog who came in at their leisure without the owner doing anything, specifying that I was inside eating. Obviously the waiter had noticed the presence of animals (they were not people sitting down to eat) and did nothing. If I was outside I wouldn't have said anything, but inside eating with animals that pass under your legs, that position themselves near you and put their paws on your legs while you eat I can't accept it... for me it's a issue of hygiene and cleanliness. I didn't choose to eat with them either. So I don't think I will go back and I don't recommend it to anyone who thinks like me.

It is impossible not to appreciate the high quality of the food, lamb as divine as everything else. I also recommend the tart with ricotta and sheep's parmesan. Friendly and helpful staff. It's true the waiting times are not very short, but acceptable despite what I read in some reviews. On holiday you can also allow yourself to eat more calmly. Highly recommended.

We were very satisfied with the lunch:
As an appetizer, Ascolana olives and fried pecorino, followed by grilled sausages and vegetable ciabotto. Everything truly delicious!
We concluded with a half tiramisu, which was very delicate and very light.
The presence of natural wines on the list was a pleasant surprise.
Excellent place in my opinion to stop after visiting the castle which allows you to relax and enjoy the atmosphere of the town of Rocca Calascio!

After the splendid visit to the fortified tower of Rocca Calascio, we stopped for lunch in this restaurant that I didn't know about.
It was a pleasant surprise: everything was good, potato and chicory pie, sausage and mushroom gnocchi, ricotta and lemon tagliatelle (to these they would have added a little pepper which, in my opinion, can never be missing with lemon), kebabs, soup of lentils, lamb coratella is a delicious tiramisu.
Friendly and fairly fast service.
Excellent value for money. The sign displayed outside the restaurant is curious (see photo) with which I can only fully agree.

At the entrance to the characteristic restaurant there is a funny, but not too much, sign, which suggests to the traveler some curious information, for example, not to be stingy, or not to be hasty.
I certainly found some stinginess on the plate, it's obvious, for example, the €10 "chopping board", cost within the norm, but cheeses on the chopping board... certainly the hand that placed them was very stingy, I could just taste them!
The kebabs... good for goodness sake, but I've always eaten them with the meat covering at least 3/4 of the skewer, here, if it filled 2/4 it was perhaps luck.
I repeat, good food, and a nice place, but that sign certainly clashes greatly with the portions.
It's obvious.

The restaurant's writings are very unpleasant for customers. One of the few places there are in the area should offer excellent service and nothing written... If you're in a hurry start running... I didn't like it, the girl doesn't convey any sympathy and doesn't give any smile, we'll go to the other venues.

Beautiful location but that's all. Rude, disorganized staff, long waiting times and expensive and not up to par dishes. The french fries were inedible. Fried for a long time and reheated... really a shame. Not recommended!

Returning from the visit to the magnificent Rocca we had lunch discreetly. Eaten outside discreet dishes, friendly staff and good atmosphere. Fair value for money. I thought I'd spend more...

We called in here for a drink and a bite to eat after walking from the main road up to the church and fortress.
Our Italian is very bad, however the young waiter was very good, and managed to understand what we were saying.
We had the stuffed zucchini, arrosticini and local table wine.
The whole experience was great and the food was tasty and reasonably priced.
