Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We decided to check out this small town, Calascio on our way to L’Aquila and decided to give this sandwich place a try. We had a charcuterie board and panini sandwich with water and a small bottle of local wine. We ordered outside by the menu board and the lunch was served inside. As usual, we were showered with Italian hospitality. The wife sat us by a heater and the husband came to turn up the heater to make sure we were comfortable. The small restaurant space was adorned with antique pieces grouped by category. It was such a unique experience. The lunch cost €26 and we didn’t even finish the sandwich because of the abundant food. If you are in the area, stop by this shop. They did a great job posting signs all over the town.

Calling it a "sandwich shop" is certainly restrictive and doesn't do it justice. My wife and I ended up in Calascio a couple of days ago and decided to try having lunch in this place.
Entering the room, you literally immerse yourself in an ancient world which is our ancient world: you are surrounded by shearing shears, handmade umbrellas, planes, carpenter's saws, scythes, billhooks, etc...
The sandwiches also seem to jump out of this world: warmed bread, wild boar, flavored and non-flavoured cheeses, herbs such as savory. In short, local and traditional food of the place but revisited today.
I think it's a must to stop by this sandwich shop when you're in these parts.
Last note, the management (mother and daughter) is commendable: hospitality and kindness make you immediately feel at home.
We will be sure to come back to try these sandwiches when we return to these parts.

we wanted to grab some sandwiches for a packed lunch on the way up to the Rocca, but then we quickly realized that it was worth taking it easy and we sat in an internal room, full of fascinating details and so we savored and shared various sandwiches and bruschetta. all very good. It's also difficult to choose which sandwich to get because the combinations offered are one better than the other. And to conclude a good coffee. The one who welcomed us was very kind and friendly. The place deserves 100%

Superlative sandwich: the balance between the ingredients and the freshness of the raw materials denotes professionalism and continuous search for new flavors to propose to customers. I personally enjoyed the sandwich with wild boar flake, goat cheese with berries, tomato and radicchio and a bruschetta with bacon and cheese alla santoreggia: a real treat for the senses and the palate.
Highly recommended place for lunches, dinners and also for visiting the Museum of Peasant Civilization, present inside the room where history and tradition offer a unique experience.

We were looking for a place to have lunch after exploring the ruins of Castel del Monte Rocca Calascio. We sure picked the right place!! A great sandwich with the best bread I have tasted in years, very nice people (the baker and his daughter), attentive and friendly, and a magnificent setting to dine in, an actual mini-museum hosting old, authentic tools, starting with shoe- maker's, blacksmith's, miller's jems, and more, lovingly collected and displayed by the family. The whole experience made this lunch memorable and very pleasant, as well as tasty. I highly recommend this lovely establishment!

Very characteristic place in a fresh cave. Exceptional hospitality and absolute availability. Very genuine and local food. The craft beers are also excellent. A kindness hard to find. Definitely a landmark to remember for a visit to Rocca Calascio.

A lunch break with authentic local products and care in working them. In this place you can breathe history and future: the desire to maintain and promote the customs of the past, make known the emigration of the people of Abruzzo and the tenacity in reviving countries attacked by depopulation. Nice Place, Recommendation.

We visited this place twice during our stay.
It is located in the lower part of the town of Calascio along various steps, but in any case it is well signposted from the car park where there is the bus stop for the Rocca.
The place is not very large but it is worth it because it is particular where on the wall there are various utensils from the past.
We were welcomed once by the daughter and once by the father and I would truly say with a kindness, niceness and friendliness that put you at ease as if you were at home.
The sandwiches are really excellent. 2 slices of toasted bread, very hot and made with quality local raw materials and accompanied by a 375ml bottle of good wine. The tart is also excellent
Fair prices! Definitely worth returning if you pass through those parts.

You have to find, among the narrow streets of the village, this characteristic house used as a sandwich shop, where you can find excellent quality products, a friendly welcome and an antique-style room with still many antique tools to admire. A visit to these super characteristic places is always worth it!
