HANDS DOWN GETTER THEN THE FISH SHOP 👀

Thank you so much for the amazing service. Fast, bubbly environment. Food and shake was sooooo yummy, loved how the cook watched us take every bite. We also got given free deep fried pineapple. That was yummmmm too! Fully recomend then Seadog and fish burger, add a egg in lol. If sitting outside you have the best view of the boats and water. Such a hidden Gem. Be coming back in July for sure for another fat feed. Thank you guys so much.

Best fish and chips in Mangonui! Staff are friendly and helpful. The fish was fresh and it all came out well presented on a plate. Loads of choices but can’t go past the fish and chips.

Easy Dinner

Great feed including a huge Fish Burger and Fish and Chips (Snapper) with condiments to suit. The oil was fresh and the chips were the best. Friendly and prompt service even better.

Went to this place one evening and was told it would take an hour for our meals to be ready. It actually took 1 hour and 30 minutes. To cook four fish, some chips and two burgers - did they have to catch these fish first? My food was too greasy and tasteless but I was hungry so I ate. They ran out of the requested Snapper and this seem to delay our order more. There is laid back and there is downright incompetent. They actually shut the place as we were eating our meals. Cooking to order can be good as you know your food will be fresh but for fish and chips this is not necessary as you know you are going to sell what you have and with a quick turnaround you will have more customers. In the last four weeks NZ has proven itself a culinary disaster. Self-catering from now onwards.

We came with such high expectation

We came with such high expectation and left with a bitter taste in our mouth. We waited over an hour for our food, while other people who had ordered before us received there food. When we got our food the fish was dry, the chips were soggy. Absolute rubbish. We will not be back.

Great food and presentation

The thing we love about this takeaways is that you can order and head next door to the Mangonui Hotel for a glass of wine, and they will deliver your food in a gorgeous box to you. The presentation adds to the fact that the gurnard is always delicious, the chips great and the vege burgers have delicious patties. It's a great night out, and these are the best takeaways in Mangonui hands down. Have enjoyed many times and will keep enjoying as the best fish n chips in Far North as long as we can!

Well, that was a massive disappointment.

How long should fish and chips, plus 4 scallops for 2 adults take? This time of year 30 mins acceptable. 1 and a half hours later and still waiting? Not acceptable, and thankfully no children with us. What went wrong? No idea because no one explained to all those waiting after an hour why it was taking so long. And then when we finally got our meal sometime after 9pm, it was very very average. 2 pieces of snapper ordered? 1 piece was clearly different from the other and the chips were also below and unsalted - no salt on the table. What a waste of carbs. And we only went here because people told us it was better than the other f and c place in town. Oh dear.

The Best Fish and Chips in Mangonui!!

First time home from Aus since 2018, always our go to for Fresh Fish and Chips at Fresh & Tasty Mangonui. Have been hanging out for 4 years to have some fresh fish from you again, unfortunately no Snapper this day, but the Hoki was the next best thing, beautifully cooked, so juicy and fresh. Too hungry to take a photo but will tomorrow. Thanks again ladies back again tomorrow for lunch before heading back to Whangarei.

We came here for a takeaway. The burger and toasted sandwich we had were pretty good. The chips not so much considering it was crazy busy and an easy 20 min wait. I would have thought the chips should be fresh but they tasted as though they had been there a while. In saying that the people were lovely and you can zip to the pub to have a beer while you wait. I would come back.

Best fish and chips in town

Ok a little expensive but much cheaper and nicer than the World famous one in town which I won't go back too because they charge like a wounded bull.. This place also gives gold card holders a small discount. Over all the best in town.

Delicious fish and chips

Really yummy fish and chips, great selection of food to order. Nicest fish and chips I have had in ages. Can takeaway or have it delivered to eat in the mangonui hotel pub while having a drink. It is a very popular place so expect to wait especially if ordering later in the evening. First night we ordered about 6:30pm and we got our order in about 15mins which was impressive. The next day tried to order a burger at 7pm and it was going to be a much much longer wait. (To be honest if you are sitting and having a drink, it's probably worth the wait ) We had three orders for 11 ppl and they were all prefect to order.

Tasty Fish and Chips

Very tasty fish and chips in the middle of Mangonui. Large portions. Make sure to visit the hotel next door (that's where the toilets are). There is a large parrot there, entertaining the patrons of the bar.

Worst fish I've ever had, rude staff, over priced

Maybe I caught this place on a bad day but I ordered fish, just fish. I was charged $9:50... obviously I thought, this will be amazing! That cost for a piece of fish. He tells me it'll be 20 minutes wait. When it eventually turned up, the guy was quite rude as he handed me over a small box, i've attached a picture of here... it was disgusting, wet, small bit of fish... The worst.

Amazing food, lovely staff

I've always raved about the food and service I receive here, the staff are always lovely and the foods incredible. You get good value for money compared to some other takeaways too which is awesome. Toasted sandwiches are my favourite, I won't go anywhere else for one!!

Can’t get your fish any tastier

Can’t get your fish any tastier or fresher. Perfect. Chips were amazing, not oily at all. Wish we could eat here all the time! Will be back. Prices heaps better than the place on the other side of the road.
